Seems weird that his fabled 35k a week contract that he signed after us is almost running out .

Still can't get my head around the fact he was 17 when he played with us .

We were so reliant on him . When he clicked we were awesome and when he failed , as expected for a 17 yr, we were poor .

 

Doubt there will be a buy back with 12 months left of his contract

But in all seriousness, this would be a great signing, so long as well can actually stay in the Prem long enough that he is able to stay here and fulfil his high potential with us.

 

If we do sign chabolah which I can see happening who plays in midfield him or Hughes or both gonna be bench warmers, assume we're going for a 4-2-3-1 formation, doucoure and chalobah I'm guessing would play the defensive role then the 3 being perreya zarate when fit and possibly success? This must mean capoue, behrami and such will be off?

Sounds like a good problem to have for me... doesn't necessarily mean both Capoue and Behrami would be off either, maybe just one.

Also, can Pereyra actually play one of the wide slots of the 3? In which case maybe we'd do: Chalobah, Doucoure and Hughes in the middle, Pereyra and ?Success? wide and ?Striker?...

 

But can deeney be a lone striker? I think it's a very good problem to have

I guess he'd rotate with Hughes, but tbh after his good start he finished the season pretty darn average. I'd be hoping Hughes with his reputation should push passed him - they both seem to do similar things - otherwise I'm also a bit unsure what we'd have bought Hughes for...

 

Mourinho has very often used attacking mids for the wide men in his 4231s down the years

You can pretty much rotate Cleverly and Chalobah for any of the 3 central positions, Hughes wide or centre, Pereyra wide or centre, Success, Janmaat wide etc

 

Who would have thought that little ol Watford would wind up so many Chelsea fans. I know their anger is more toward their board than us, but still, it's nice to see so many Chelsea fans get their knickers in twist because they really rate him and want him to stay.

Edit: if we sign him, will we no longer be all that is wrong with football since we would potentially have 4 Englishmen in the starting lineup?

Would be great signing although getting worried no rumours of a striker. We should not be starting with Deeney as no 1 striker or all these midfielders will be wasted

 

He really needs to make his next move a good one, for the sake of his career. He's been named on the subs bench 60 times in the league in the last two seasons for Chelsea and Napoli but only made one start (in the game against us when the title was already won). He's only played 188 minutes of league football in two years.

If he came here, I wouldn't see him as a guaranteed starter either. Still, at the price being quoted it would be a good deal.

Hard to think of another 17 year old that looked so assured on the ball as when he was with us, and weighed in with five goals too.

 

He'd certainly be worth a shot at that price. He's still young and the talent is undoubtedly there.

However I have to say that the fact he's (apparently) talking to us rather than Milan, Barcelona or Man City is because he's not really lived up to his potential so far. Conte and his no doubt multitudinous advisers and Russian henchmen have decided they're willing to let him go rather than promote him. They think they've got better options.

Chalobah himself will be well aware of that. It's not the best turn in his career.

If he comes here then a lot will depend on how he reacts to that disappointment.

Chalobah was the best young player i've ever seen at Watford in 2012/13. It's genuinely exciting that we could have the future spine of an England team playing for us.

More importantly, does anybody know the current whereabouts of Richard Hughes? Is he lurking around the Stamford Bridge area?!!

 

Id play Pereyra at CAM, Chalobah and Hughes at CM, either we are all forgetting that hughes and chalobah are decent tacklers for the ball and have huge reserves of stamina, or that We need a dedicated CDM to play.

Find Prodl someone capable of playing alongside against and our defence will be fine. I really like the mid field three of chalobah, hughes and pereyra though.

I'm sure Chalobah doesn't want to be playing Championship football in 12 months time.

 

I think that if he wants to leave to get more playing time and depart the winning mega rich Chelsea team, it shows he's initially reacting well to the disappointment. I also think it's not surprising Chelsea think they have better options as they can afford and attract the best current footballers in the world. Chalobah is not in that bracket yet so given the level they are competing at it's not surprising they are going to want the best current proven players to start.

For us though it's amazing to buy into this potential and the thought that we could have the England team centre midfield in a few years time is stimulating my sordid Hornet fantasies and dreams of future glory.

It almost seems too good to be true which is why I'm desperate for it be confirmed before something goes wrong.

 

A fantastic signing if we get him.

There must be 12 or 13 sides in the premier who are looking at him and thinking that he would fit into their squad
