They filmed literally hours of footage, and most of it was a good bloke doing a good job as a prisoner, doing his laundry. And then you say you wished you'd raped a schoolgirl and you're labelled a paedo...and that's the game

 

An Ill advised but light hearted joke, during a private conversation broadcast to the public out of context.

The man is an idiot, he's doing his time. Let's leave him alone. All this will do is fire up a lynch mob for when he's released.

 

What's a light hearted joke about wishing you'd raped a child who you have already groomed and sexually abused among friends?

I didn't say I supported it or that I thought it was funny, just that lifting one sentence out of context makes him sound like he wanted to commit rape where the actual emphasis was on the strength of the sentence is more akin to him having actually having committed rape.

It's obviously a plant so newspapers and now yahoo on-line can print the headline "Johnson wished he had raped an underage girl". so they can sell some more copy when if you look at the whole conversation in context that clearly isn't the case.

All it does is promote the sort of violence from neanderthals that murdered a paediatrician because they didn't know paediatrician is different to paedophile.

 

I think the fact that he's joking about it at all and somehow seems to still see himself as the victim in all of this says enough really without the headlines. I'm also hesitant to even give him the benefit of the doubt that he was joking considering that he has proven in the past that he is more than willing to go out of his way to carry out sex crimes.

By the way, in the eyes of the law Johnson is actually already guilty of rape, which was probably the reason he got such a large sentence.

 

Which Law is that, then?

 

for the first time in a long time i agree with meister. it reads as someone making a joke about the length of his term. i think people would do themselves a favour by actually reading the things that make them so outraged

 

Seriously. The meaning of what he said was quite clearly that he felt the sentence was far too harsh for what he did, not that he actually wished he had raped someone.

People just love to be offended.

 

Doesn't take a body language expert to look at Johnson in that video and see that hes anticipating a beating at the beginning of the discussion

Not that surprising to see him trying to ingratiate himself with some other prisoners with some off colour jokes and denials of his guilt in the circumstances. Whether he believes what he is saying, who knows

 

I heartily dislike the man BUT you do have to consider context and tone. What he said could be interpreted as "i might as well have done considering the sentence...."
