That's the first post i've ever "disliked". And it's thoroughly deserved.

No defence in front of him for about 20 minutes due to the circumstances and you're making him a scapegoat. Get a grip.

Is that the very clever reply I think it is? I am giving you the benefit of the doubt. Very Funny!

I think its ideal to have 3 keepers... Hilario was that third keeper (cech, turnbull, hilario)

Ill take the credit for the funny comment though.

    Lenders,

i think he was s.ucking arfur scargrills d.ick, when he was 17/18. But not very well, as he wasn't yet expereinced at it, as he is now.

Plumley was an inexperienced goalkeeper who was unexpectedly thrust into a vital Watford game, only to find himself clearly out of his depth. His individual errors cost us the game.

Now substitute the name Bonham into the above sentence and see whether it still works. It does? Now perhaps you can see why I drew comparisons between the two in my opening post.

Way I see it , today just wasn't our day, 2 keepers injured , a penalty not given , and a deeney sent off, can't blame Bonham he's never played a senior game before and to be suddenly called up in such a big game must be scary as f*** , both goals where soft and shouldn't have happened , but these things happen. The game was a bit of blood bath with nasty tackles going in everywhere

On the whole I think we played well for most of the game ,we def outclassed Leeds - if they hadn't taken out Bond they would never have scored.

My only concern is that I thnk we are vulnerable to teams gong in hard

Two of the four Spurs goals were absolute class, Plumley had no chance with either. We scored 1. Once again you pick on the individual instead of blaming the team performance, (which was a shocker), and are wrong to do so. Your manner of posting is akin to a bully.

I'm glad you're not my union rep.

    Deeney

Deeney talks well in regard to his earlier problems. But you have to ask if he still has an anger mgmt problem. Not just in relation to today but he had also to be calmed down at one point in Leicester game. His stupidity today could have costs us millions of pounds.

Apologies, I thought you were making a play on Hilario's name (Hilario.... v hilarious).

Chelsea are funded by one of the richest men in Europe. Hilario may have been happy to sit on the sidelines as third choice with Mr. Abramovich paying his salary, however, I doubt he (or keepers of his standard) would be willing to be third choice in the championship on a vastly reduced salary.

Suggest you watch the replays and the decide the best way to apologise to young Bonham! Making yourself look a right tool trying to lay it all on Bonham when we were deficient in other areas.

What nonsense. We played really well. I remember one low bouncing shot going over Plumley's hands and then him getting beaten at his near post. He was absolutely dire, whereas the team performance as a whole was pretty good. That's why we remember Plumley so much - it was a wrong decision to play him, he was out of his depth and if it hadn't been for his individual errors we would have been in with a decent chance of upsetting Spurs.

"If a full-time professional had let in one or two of those, you'd have had to keep him away from a rope for a week or two," said Ray Clemence.

I don't think there's anything remotely bullying about criticising someone for making dreadful mistakes when they're supposed to be a professional at what they're doing.

If a plumber came round your house and his young mate cut the wrong pipe and flooded your house and brought your ceilings down, would you say "Ahh well, he's just a young lad. We've got to be supportive of him and nurture him. It's important nobody criticises him otherwise it'll damage his confidence."?

I was suggesting someone at the end of there career (neil sullivan e.g.) just to step in when need be.

I already said that I am not trying to 'blame it all' on Bonham, nor that his mistakes today mean he won't make a decent keeper in future.

To reiterate once more, I said that his errors this afternoon and the way that he was obviously out of his depth were akin to Gary Plumley v Spurs in the cup some years ago.

I then went on to say that I hoped Bonham would not start in the playoff games.

I really don't see what's to disagree with or what's so controversial.

Just one of those days. How often do both your goalkeepers get ruled out at the beginning of a crucial game?

And a blatant penalty denied? Both goals were soft, no doubt about that, but the kid was thrown in at the deep end and its not like he intended to hand the game to them.

Annoyingly Cardiff did their bit and us as a team didn't deliver on the day. Deeney was stupid, FF busy but ineffective. Chalobah poor too although Abdi and Cassetti were excellent.

Did hear someone say outside the ground Bond should be OK for Thursday, hard part will be lifting the players but I know we have it in us to beat Leicester.

"The Hull players looked distraught at the end of their game. It was all written.

    Step in Jack "Plumley" Bonham".

90% of wfc fans blame Plumley and he never played again.. In reality would wfc have won that game with first choice keper in?

it is very different today - wfc were still on for promotion to the 90th minute - it didn't matter if wfc didn't score and by going for the win wfc lost - Zola maintains that is his style and reflects in the losses to draws ratio.

If a wfc player had scored the last goal, wfc fans would cream at the quality of the lob " another £2m on Vydra's tag, thank you"
"FF is taking the pish of this division"

always the blame game and always the scapegoat.

this was a pointless thread but great for debating and abusing - its only banter u scum canut

I don't think Bond will be ok for Thursday - he has been reported as having a dislocated shoulder and a facial injury (broken nose?).

If the shoulder was dislocated there is no way he'll be able to play for a while.

I don't fully understand why anyone is to blame.

    Football is a team effort,

Managers, coaches and medical staff prepare the players -why did Almunia's leg give in today -which medical staff was supervising him - sack the uselss scum canut now..

I was angry, at second glance, you cant blame just deeney, but he should definitely take some stick for the sending off!

  20. Just **** off.

  21. Another bloody stupid analogy. A plumber is not going to have his confidence destroyed to the point he can't do his job; and you are not going to be maybe relying on that plumber again in a few days. He knows he made mistakes, and it really doesn't help anybody to harp on about them. You are normally a pretty sensible poster, Clive; I think a few normally sensible posters are letting the emotions of the day cloud their judgements.

  22. Just **** off. Needed saying again. And take your stupid guitar with you you ****.

If the management had taken some guy off the street and stuck him on the bench despite him not being qualified and ready, we'd criticise them, not the guy.

Same here, Bonham should never have been in this position. He wasn't ready and this led to his error(s). When a goalkeeper doesn't say a word to his defenders and looks petrified out there, then you know he's not ready.

Give the guy a ****ing break, for gods sake.

I've held back from criticising the management all season, but this was one almighty disaster waiting to happen. Which happened today.

There's my reasoned argument, Clive. Not sure there's much of a response but fire away.

That's fine Going Down. That's a reasonable argument. As you say, not much to disagree with.

It's not as though Bonham grabbed the ball a la Trotta and demanded a place in the team. He's been the victim of circumstance.

As for criticising the management, well I expect they thought the chance of both keepers being injured was very small, but they must have considered that Bonham was ready to step up if absolutely necessary. He's been on the bench for us a few times this season when Almunia or Bond have been injured or unavailable.

When it came to it though, he wasn't up to it and that was obvious to everyone. He looked terrified when he was warming up on the touch line during Bond's injury. He stood frozen when the whole defence was pointing to him and yelling for him to come out and clear the long ball through for their first goal.

I'll say it one more time: It was a performance reminiscent of Gary Plumley's against Spurs and I really hope that he won't be starting for us between the sticks in the play off games.

Bonhams debut reminded me of a centre half making his debut home to Luton in about 1992 name I believe of Scott Fitzgerald, games was a 1200 kick off and he was only playing because of injuries. Made a hash up and before you knew where we were Luton were 2-0 up, he was subsituted at half time, never to play for us again.

I hope the same thing doesn't happen to Jack
