Either a true tactical masterstroke. Or a Walter up yours.

Come 5pm we will know either way.

I've been away so missed news - Is Deeney dropped, injured, suspended?

But he's our main threat in attacking them. Cleverley will take them.

Should be a red card for Carroll. Leading with the elbow once again. Thug.

I hate to single a player out but Britos has been awful. Zeegelaar needs to be aware of his defensive duties as well. We are comfortably the better team but 1-0 is not enough. Gomes superb.

Not sure what the second half will bring, but this was on the BBC

“Watford close to a second, they are playing some sublime football.”

Hughes looks good to me (maybe more enthusiasm than skill - but even so)

Richarlison is getting kicked all over the pitch. Carol is a bit of an animal.

As always Gomes is worth his weight

Another enjoyable half of football that one, really need a 2nd and knowing us recently a 3rd goal though to settle the nerves. Britos has had a poor first half, everyone else has done well. Richarlison is making the league take notice. Oh and a mention for Gray who is battling bloody hard up top and linking up well.

    This is fantastic!

I'm in a pub full of West Ham, and they're all praising Watford.

Simply a class above. As we were against Everton and Chelsea before screwing up. Not today though. :)

    Great display.

Hughes was excellent. Doucoure is going to be picked up by one of the big clubs, I’m afraid. What a player. Zeeglar looks strong in defence and attack.

Richarlison is a joy to have the in a Watford shirt. Gomes was incredible. Kiko a great outlet in attack.

On the negative side, Britos is very poor. Needs training be replaced.

    All the others were solid.

    Well happy.

At times we looked absoloutly superb , am delighted after the Everton game.

If we could just get it in the box a bit more we would be scoring 3 or 4 a games.

And even better , this was without Pererya (ok last 10 mins) or Chalobah, Prodil which means our bench starts looking strong as well.

Strange game, we were utterly dominant and much the better side yet they had a couple of chances that they really should have put away.

We seemed the play the game in a slightly lazy fashion, our attacks all seemed very laid back and if we’d been at full intensity I can’t help but think we’d have spanked them.

I’m not complaining in any way shape for form by the way, just my observation. It was a great win and I still have to pinch myself sometimes that this is definitely us.

Get Britos and Holebas away from the starting 11 and we’ll be a whole lot better

Excellent performance from everyone except Britos, who is awful.

Hughes looked so intelligent and smart on the ball and Dolph Zeegelaar looks light years ahead of Holebas.

Richarlison is going to become one of the most sought after young players in the world by the end of the season.

Agree with this, Kiko is a great outlet and gets into dangerous positions but seems scared of whipping a ball in.

Will Hughes had a great game in my opinion. I really want him to get a run of games.

Britos made me curse him here and there, and I think Gray got knocked off the ball too easily at times, but other than that, it was a very reassuring performance by the whole team, after an international break full of managerial uncertainty.

Really good all round performance. We defended well, controlled possession and played some cracking football. It's hard to single anyone out but a special mention has to go to Zeegelaar - to play like that on your debut having taken an Andy Carroll elbow to the face in the first minute is highly impressive. I really like Holebas but he needs proper competition, and I think he has that now and then some.

I desperately hope Marco Silva stays, but taking a look at our line up today, and particularly the strength we have on the bench (Karnezis, Prodl, Holebas, Capoue, Pereyra, Carrillo, Okaka - one of the strongest Watford benches ever?) I genuinely think we will still have a successful season if he does go.

Excellent win and generally very good performance.

Broke with pace and some great passing - Hughes and Doucourae outstanding.

Gomes did wonders when called upon.

I agree about hughes and britos, but not about Gray. I thought he stood up well against a physical defence and came out with the ball plenty of times, played it simple and did his best to get in behind.

Silva, still does not commit in his interview. Boys in the BT studio saying he should go, Everton different gravy, better job than little old Watford.
Hope they get relegated, tinpot club!

I think he did fantastic in a number of situations. He's playing a role he's not totally suited to, but he never shirks.

    That was absolute rubbish.....

    Joking!
What a great performance that was and the attitude was much much better when we went ahead, so praise there for Silva and the boys all around.

I was biting my nails at the end of the first half but OMG what a save from Gomes... almost George banks Esq. Good to see Hughes playing and showing us what he was at Derby too - feel good factor back tonight.

Missed the Stoke game so it feels like ages since I went to the Vic and it felt good to be back!
The lineup made me apprehensive as I’m not sold on the 343 but we kept the ball really well and did enough with it to deserve the win! That said West Ham look utter toss. They’re in right trouble.

    Gomes phenomenal.
    Doucoure imperious.
    Cleverley tireless.
    Richarlison dazzling.
    Hughes inventive.

Biggest surprise was Zeegelaar. I thought he was very good indeed. Worked hard, overlapped, comfortable on the ball. That touch in the second half was Bergkamp-esque.

Hughes was superb. Sometimes footballers make the easy stuff difficult but he just did the easy stuff brilliantly. Saw exactly why the Derby fans rate him so highly.
Praise the Lord for Gomes, without those 2 first half saves it could have been a different game. Hart made a worldie as well
    Carrol is a shocking footballer.
After seeing West Ham today in their first game for Moyes I'd happily put money on them going down. West Ham fans turned on their board big time.

I'm *kin freezing so a glass of red with the Sunday roast needs to be done right now.
