Have watched the match on MotD now. Also watched it last night but was too inebriated to firm a coherent opinion. So: - Foster at fault for their goal? Debatable... - the penalty?? Didn't look like one to me. The ref. obviously thought Mina had played the ball which was why he gave a corner. To me it looked like Mina played neither man nor ball. GD chucked himself down to try and fool the ref. Just don't do it eh GD? VAR is watching now. It's not the job of VAR to turn a corner into a goal kick. - the Troy chance? He was stretching and just had to get something on it. No blame attached to booting it into Pickford's dish. Had every chance of improving Pickford's dish as well. Offside by way more than a toenail anyway. - the AD chance? Came to him very sharply. No particular blame attached to missing it.
Especially when you've had a few? Are you still in the Master Mariner? Is she in there too? If so, I'd go for it. All the nice girls love a sailor ...
Wasn't there (a fairly obviously bogus) posting or two by somebody daring to call him/herself 'Rookery Lad' last season? Crystal Palace supporter in flimsy disguise? (In which case 'itself'). Maybe there's a whole extended family out there, with RD acting as PR man. Rookery Second Cousin, etc?
I'm still in the Master Mariner, luckily she is not here. You would go for it!!! and I'm saying I'm not fussy.
David Cameron is of course looking worried as well. He's not in the Mariner too is he? Didn't know he was of WFC. Boris is though of course. Boris wouldn't. Sow might.
I hope we go down as much as the next WFC fan so it really pains me to say this... But if we play like that every week we'll be just fine.
What’s the difference between Laporte’s hand ball and Murray’s from last week both unintentional but 1 results in a disallowed goal and 1 results in a no penalty. VAR is ******** still absolutely no consistency. If someone handles in the box on purpose or not it should be a penalty, that’s it! You can’t have 1 rule for 1 and 1 for another!
It's not VAR's fault It is the current handball rules fault. The Murray handball was far more intentional than the Laporte one. The law, is indeed, an ass.
A degree in Pig F.cking. Initially a BA but maturing effortlessly into an MA 3 years later without any further need for pig bothering.
Probably at the time that I insert said flag into some condescending git where the sun doesn't shine. I have never owned a flag, let alone a "happy clapper" stick or indeed any replica kit other than a scarf which was given to all of us that went to Middlesbrough in 2000 (we're out of your league) - oh and a black & yellow beany hat once to keep off the drafts. I have endured 6 relegations (and enjoyed 8 promotions) with Watford and I have never encountered such vitriol and bile as recently on this forum. Not even in 1972 when we were related from the old Division 2 with 19 (yes 19) points from 42 games - I saw all bar 4 of those games. I cannot really understand why some so-called Watford fans on here seem to be so scathingly negative - even allowing for the not-so-subtle trolling of the obvious suspects. If we are still wallowing around the bottom 4 or 5 places in the New Year then I will "think that we are in trouble" - but I suspect we won't be.
Agreed - it's honestly baffling. We're doing better than we have at virtually any other time in our history, our current coach is unarguably the 2nd most successful we've had under GT (came bloody close to getting us into Europe last season and also took us to the FA Cup final, something only GT himself has done for us previously), and our owners have saved us from a very likely death under Bassini before delivering promotion and 5 successive top division campaigns. And yet these boards are about as negative as I can ever recall in the internet era, including during the latter days of Bassini and the worst days under Lewington (not a dig at Ray, he did well with what he had to work with...but we were truly sh*t back then). I suppose you can put some of it down to those who return for the good times. Our attendance is close to double what it was doing our Championship days pre-Pozzo (looking at seasons before the stand was condemned, before someone uses that as an excuse).
Jonjo Shelvey has scored more goals than Watford FC this season. If this is still the case at the end of the season the Everton game will have been a high point!
Well, I’ve watched Goals on Sunday now and I’m happy that the ‘contact’ on Deulofeu was not what caused him to fall, so to me that’s a dive. I agree with Kamara that exaggerating the fall meant he was less likely to ‘win’ a penalty, but surely the possible reward of a penalty for ‘going down’ in these circumstances is only encouraging diving. Deulofeu should have been booked for the same reason that Pereyra was earlier in the game.
I think you can both be fouled and dive in the same challenge. The two aren't mutually exclusive. Not every foul is going to result in someone hitting the floor.
