Is Marco Silva all that?

He may not be the man Everton want, but he's sure as **** the man Everton need.

After watching Everton yesterday he's probably the man they need to keep them up, they're truly an awful awful team. Even if they got Silva they'd probably go down, they lack the quality to play the silky smooth football we get to watch week in week out. The best Everton can hope for this season is survival and then rebuild again next Summer.

Fat Sam is an excellent manager, who's always been unfairly overlooked for the top jobs at the top clubs.

    Everton are his stepping stone.

  7. I think the BFS could sort them out actually. Will be really interesting to see what he can do. Never been his biggest fan, but he deserves a chance with a team with Everton's potential (both upward and downward;)).

Actually as Hull fans would attest Silva would have been perfect. But of course he'd have to put up with probably the worst DOF/recruiting team in the country and of course it's up North where the speak with a silly accent.

So from thinking Diego Simeone would join, to failing in the pursuit of Marco Silva, then having to eat humble pie to go back in for Big Sam. It's been marvellous watching how a 'big club' does its business.

  10. Great to see one of footballs biggest and most successful ever clubs land a manager fitting for their greatness

  11. Not much after they sack Klopp and end up with Pulis next season. After this, it's on the cards...

That's what he's always said, and he's probably right. He'll regain his appetite for the game at Everton, and next summer he'll take another step up when he joins Watford as Silva joins Barcelona.

Only if it came in a brown envelope.

Seriously though, I think his biggest problem was the length of contract. Everton wanted to give him until the end of the season. Fat Sam wanted a lot longer than that.

  15. Allardicé can basically name his price and his terms. He knows what Everton were prepared to pay Silva; he knows there is a slush fund of £20m that they were prepared to pay us off with. Everton are going to get anally raped by Sam.

Can’t wait for the press conference where BFS says he never, ever gave a radio interview saying he was no longer interested and Kenwright/Moshiri state he was their No.1 target all along and they’ve got their man...

  17. From Simeone, to Silva, to BFS

3 totally different managers with 3 totally different playing styles and will want to build 3 totally different teams

Everton board absolutely clueless about what they are trying to achieve on the pitch, total braindead f***wits

    Perfectly fair

What most teams do that operate a DoF model is make a decision about their identity, how they want to play and the DoF should be appraised of all the managers around who are able to fit into the style, so that managerial changes cause minimal disruption

Everton appear to have never considered this strategy

Koeman was pragmatic (understatement), but the rumoured successors - Simeone, Dyche, Allardyce, Silva, Fonseca, Rangnick, etc - are all completely different to each other

All I can really say in Moshiri and co's defence here is that, as nauseating as it is to admit, Allardyce is absolutely the right appointment for the circumstances we find ourselves in

It's a pretty dark moment in our history - the only way I justify it to myself is that being relegated would be worse.

We deserve all the stick that is coming our way

I will say one thing. It is a genuine shame this is not happening to Manure, Chelski, Arsenal whose entire fanbases seem to be made up of entitled ****wits. You are always going to get some supporters like that at any club and the unfortunate side effect of the wonder that is the internet is that they will shout very loud, or at least TYPE VERY LOUD, to be heard.

Here's hoping that for grounded supporters like yourself that Everton get out of this mess and, maybe, some other Everton supporters realise there is more to running a football club than money and past glories.

The difficulty is there are not that many good managers around though, even less when you look at managers out of contract. We’ve had all types of different managers and most haven’t worked out how we’d hope they would. It has been suggested the Pozzos wanted Mazzari for a while for his brand of attacking 3-5-2 football, but as we know he was abysmal. For us Silva was just a very good manager who happened to be around at the time we needed one, was he on the Pozzos radar before he managed Hull? There is certainly no evidence to suggest he was. Look at West Ham, they sacked Bilic and appointed Moyes, because who else is available now? Everton obviously put all their eggs in one basket with Silva, but I can’t see what other options they had than just have gone fit BFS in the first place.

  27. I'd say Gino's generally gone for managers who play a technical brand of football, with the exception of McKinley (and he quickly changed his mind) and Beppe (parachuted in as a quick fix). Zola is the ultimate expansive offensive football manager, not all that different to Silva. Mazzari was known for technical expansive football at Napoli. Oscar Garcia plays a technical brand of football that builds from the back. There is a theme to Gino's choices.

Nothing like the day and night between Silva and BFS.

I disagree that Everton couldn't have built a sensible a plan if they'd thought about it. Could you ever see Gino scrambling around trying to find a manager? He'd have a list of 10 names from around Europe in the blink of an eye.

Just waiting for them to announce a 3 year contract. Allardyce isn’t a mug and knows he will most likely be sacked after this season so he will want as much money as possible.

I was hoping Everton would be relegated after the pure arrogance of their fans on Everton forums and social media (no offence to the Everton fans on here). However Allardyce is exactly what they need and he won’t get them relegated. Will be interesting to see what he does in the January window as well, if in fact he is even allowed to spend.

Thinking about it, and I’m being deadly serious, QSF wouldn’t have been a bad appointment until the end of the season. He’d be a lot cheaper than BFS and as we know he’s good at keeping things tight, at least initially.

toffeeblue9 - your sensible, balanced posts on this forum make it much harder for us (some of us) to condemn Everton for the way they've handled the Marco Silva saga (couldn't you be a bit more like Davek?!) - but after all the comments from Evertonians (admittedly the dim ones on that forum and social media), I have to post this:

That footyfeed_efc is the biggest bell on twitter. Such a arrogant turd. You just know he has never had a girlfriend, is 25 years old but acts 10. He is the annoying friend that every group seems to have but no-one really likes, however he turns up to everything because he is so lonely. He is the guy that is always on the subs bench for his local Sunday league team and never plays, but enjoys running up and down as the lino. He dreamed of Silva going to Everton but his little heart has been broken by his man crush.

Watford REJECTED Everton, Everton didn’t CHOOSE a damn thing.
