Is Marco Silva all that?

And Everton themselves have sacked the 2 last managers at the first sign of trouble really - not exactly giving them a chance to "build something"

No-one was complaining about Koeman's "cold dour" personality last season...and they lauded Martinez in his first season.

Unless Silva got off to a good start he will be under pressure straight away because the Everton fans wanted a big name - he won't get away with just winning 1 home game in 5 for example! (I know in reality there were mitigating circumstances but fans and pundits don't think like that)

Anyway it seems the club have put the ball very much in Silva's court.

    I watched that.
John Cross was very balanced ,as was the chubby chap from The Getsworse.
Cross said Silva took on Hull when they were three points from safety and they finished 6 points away.In addition he said Silva should build his reputation with Watford and then a better job than Everton would present itself. He concluded that Silva, whilst undoubtedly a talented young coach, was being built up by the media as the messiah.
Well we know the next line there!

Good point, and they finished seventh. So off the back of that they gave him 9 games this season when they had an incredibly hard start.

Whatever happens I just feel a bit deflated about all this now, and the last two weeks have very much taken the wind out of my sails about this season. Which is a shame, as halfway through the Chelsea game I was on cloud 9! Just seems typical of supporting Watford I guess, but the Premier League does leave a bad taste sometimes. If/when hi ho Silva goes who on earth will we get to replace him??

Don’t really get it...yes, Everton are a “bigger” club with a far more impressive history but no manager will go to a club based on the past.

Silva will look at their squad and, as far as I can see, it needs a rebuild, patience, a load of money and a lot of luck. If he really has aspirations to manage a top, top side then his golden halo is far more likely to be broken at Everton than us

Which leads me to think that there’s not a hope in hell that he’s going or he’s been offered a bloody impressive pay rise

Which basically doesn’t really add much to the conversation!

So much hate, I know he could have put all this to bed with a simple statement, but maybe he was under orders not to say anything.

All I know for definate is that he is our manager for todays match so slagging him off and fighting amongst ourselves is going to do nothing to support the guys on the pitch.

I suspect Everton’s owner has ideas of turning Everton into the Man City of Liverpool. Not necessarily immediately winning the league but overturning the perceived balance of power within a city. Whilst everyone here is saying Everton fans are living in the past it wasn’t that long ago that City were merely another game for Man United. Can see why Everton is a very attractive job if they could sort their behind the scenes things out.

Still a bunch of ****s though.

  18. Difference is, seems like Moshiri wants some sort of hands on control, more like Vincent tan and the Venkys. and that ended well.

I don't get the hate for Silva. Would some of you prefer he acted like Rodgers and commit himself to Watford? It is possible that he could say he loves Watford but then Gino decides he'd prefer 10 mill making Marco look a ***. If Gino accepts the offer he will go and which one of you wouldn't move for a massive pay rise if your boss said they don't really mind if you left.

If Silva has been forcing for a move then fair enough, but not one single source has suggested this.

    Just off to the game.

Moshiri doesn't have the financial clout to do that. Plus the new stadium is going to hinder them financially.

Most of what they spent in the summer they received from out goings.

Only major factor would be Usmanov leaving Arsenal and investing in Everton.

I'm not sure what to think of it, he's stated its out of his hands, which at this point IS true, its between Everton and Watford to agree to a deal, I'm convinced that he's happy to stay as well as he would be open to moving

The thing with the Pozzos is they like to do get players and head coaches 'on the cheap'. You have to pay for quality once in a while.

If not then we will always have different personnel every year.

All these changes don't bother me, im just used to it these days.

The main problem is that this squad and team has been bought and selected based on silvas style of play. If he goes we may get an even better manager, but we'd have to find one who wants to play a similar style in the short term.

But that also goes for Everton, they don't have a squad suited to his style. Just looks like a situation where no one wins this season.
