What Is Wrong With Our Fans?

This is a huge point well made, and flies utterly in the face of the odd heffalump who insists 'fans getting behind the team' is what's needed and will have any impact on the players/results whatsoever - as you say, at other clubs with a record that appalling, in an abysmal season that's actually somehow played out worse than the previous abysmal season that ended in relegation, you'd have ***** Images photos of fans bellowing at the Stability, bellies wobbling threateningly; people throwing their season tickets at the home dugout; and running on to the pitch (like a ****) to screech and shout and demand changes.

A brain-damaged Leicester fan ran on the field and punched some Forest players because they scored a goal in a fourth round FA Cup game against his Premier League team that have competed in Europe multiple times in recent seasons and recently unveiled a new £100m state-of-the-art training complex. Fans from other teams in the league have thrown coins and bottles and other items on to the pitch multiple times this season. Think about what West Ham were like, with their fan groups and the videos coming out of the owners' box at the London Stadium being besieged by the delightful blokes in claret and blue.

Meanwhile, what? At very, very worst, fans sing slightly less than some other fans would like to, and literally react earnestly in real time to developments on the pitch, like Palace rocking up having not won a game all year and smashing us 4-1 having enjoyed the freedom of our penalty box whenever they felt like it. And that's despite the crowd in general and even the 1881 making an obviously extra, concerted effort in the opening portion of the game to make noise and keep the chants up. Until they had the stuffing knocked out of them, again.

It's an utterly, utterly laughable suggestion; totally at odds with reality. Our fans are some of the most 'supportive' in the football league when you take behaviour and absence of misbehaviour, and even just aggravated response, into account. Apparently, what the fans really need to do is consciously act as though they are witnessing a different reality, in order to not risk upsetting the princelings on the pitch enough to stop trying not to play utterly shyte.

They will all have downed tools and be left in a different group because they aren't committed to our cause.

It's unfair to expect the most valuable players to be committed to the cause. Gozzy and Clevs will be well up for a bit of Champo action though.

Also we had a great home record with no fans, even though there were no fans when we played away. Also if we’re better away than at home because of our own fans, that surely makes little sense because the away fans will be far more hostile towards us. So really it has nothing to do with fans.

I do like how, in posting this in celebration of his birthday, the club conveniently cut the clip off before there was any chance of it being revealed that Kamara was not presenting his shirt to Ann Swanson in honour of a stand being named after her, or a sick child whose only relief is to watch their heroes play the beautiful game for 90 minutes each week, but to a fully-grown 18-year-old man who begged for and received it for reasons still unbeknownst to me other than sometimes doing the club's bidding on Twitter and Youtube:

Bunch of failure enabling flange flaps.

The board, Hodgson and the squad should have been booed out of the stadium today.

I hope the lads got a lovely round of applause at the end. It's been a long, tough season but they really gave it their all.

No excuse for not giving Hodgson in particular an absolute pasting. Watford fans are a forgiving bunch but we've been disrespected on a weekly basis by this miserable chancer here for one last paycheck to fund a retirement cruise.

We've got too many 'nice' fans. An afternoon out. Many fans from other clubs describe us as not being a footballing town. I think they're right.

I had to leave at around 75 minutes today. Nothing to do with what was going on on the pitch - I'm used to that after this horrendous season. I just couldn't bear to stand there listening to our banter merchant fans singing 'we've got/lost the ball', 'Watford til I die' and 'every little thing is gonna be alright' any longer nor would I even consider staying after the game to applaud them on their lap of 'honour' and say farewell to 'Super Benny Foster'.

Just absolutely tiresome and pathetic especially those filming it on their phones in the hope of going viral. As much as our problems stem from dreadful, criminal behaviour at the top of the club, our fanbase is at the very least complicit in what is happening and will continue to happen to this club.

We had a manager who couldn’t care less. We have players that aren’t bothered to step out of first gear. We have an agent sitting in the stands getting wealthy on providing us with this garbage. We have a CEO who has consistently lied. We have owners who have not learnt from their mistakes, continue making them whilst increasing borrowing. We have had the worst season i can remember at home. With a first team that don’t even want to play. And we, as a fan base, sing about losing the ball whilst clapping like seals at everything the club does. Quite unbelievable

A long long time ago when I first got into the Hertfordshire ladies county week team we had a daft old bint of a captain who used the team as a vehicle to integrate her daughter.

She invited us to write letters as to how she had managed the team. My good friend and I did, another friend had similar feelings but was less secure of her place so didn't.

I was told by the president of the county that unless I apologized I would never be selected again. I said I had told the truth and had been invited to do so and had nothing to apologise for.

I went to play for Middlesex and had 18 brilliant years and still play with three of that team now today for Hazelwood and Hoddesdon. My friend also played one county match ( v Hertfordshire!) for Middlesex. The other friend was duly dumped by the Hertfordshire captain and went to play for Bedfordshire.

The point is you have to see the problem and then have the ***** to act on it.

I don't think some of these saps can see the route ahead or if they can they are in denial.

I'd happily protest as someone suggested earlier somewhere else, moog possibly?

    Apathy is very dangerous.

One reason I've chosen to miss so many games since Christmas is the realisation that I may end up in an altercation that would not be advisable in the context of my increasing age. Some of the pure garbage spouted by those accusing those who utter any criticism of the hierarchy and social media clowns like Foster of 'not being real fans' tends to push me too close to the edge. Insulting bile aimed at me by jumped up ***** I'd happily have had a 'strong word' with a few years ago.

It does seem to be one of the extreme negatives of the current social media led culture that the obtention of selfies and 'banging videos' is placed so much higher than any attempt to understand what is actually going on in front of peoples' eyes.

She carried on for a couple of years and retired when her daughter was an established member of the side.
Needless to say her club was Harpenden.
However there remain many like her at clubs all over the nation.
That's why every third player in the men's draw and qualies at Roland Garros is Italian. They love competition, our clubs don't want it interrupting their social doubles.
Same idea as these flimsy fans urging all and sundry to "support your team".

Probably about as infantile as the we’re the left/right side over here chant - why not look at what’s going on on the pitch instead of your fellow fans in another part of the stadium (not such a good idea this season admittedly, but you get the picture)?
