Considering how well followed the golden girls are right now, and of course following on from their fantastic promotion to the top division in the WFL, it seems sensible to have a thread where all things golden girls can be discussed. Now I do know we had one a while back, but I cannot be bothered to find it and most of that information is probably obsolete now anyway. If anybody can get hold of their fixture schedule we can paste it into this thread so we can also track how their season is going. We've had such a gloomy past five seasons with the mens team, and last season at least the ladies gave us something to be proud for.
Woah woah woah!!! What the hell is going on here??? Wimmin playing football??? What is this, the 21st century or something??? Yours etc. Austin Powers
Just to be that guy, they changed their name to 'Watford FC Women' a few seasons ago - might be worth changing the thread name.
Sad to see 'Uncle Ron', who many are so enamored with, choosing to criticise the excellent mural of Helen Ward at the stadium. It's a lovely touch, and a fitting tribute to a Watford legend. Delighted for Helen to have such a satisfying end to her career, with the scenes at the weekend.
I agree, for somebody who likes to speak his mind a lot perhaps keeping some thoughts to himself isn't a bad idea, especially when it's towards legends of the game. He is entitled to his view, no denying that, but picking and choosing when to express it is just as important.
I think it started with his bizarre obsession about the club releasing its meaningless retained list. A few people replied suggesting maybe the club weren't going to publish it on or around the women's team's big weekend. And then it just sort of spiralled from there and he's spent a few days now going on and on and on about the pointlessness of the club communicating about the women's team, which they've done a lot the past few days, rather than addressing the stuff he sees as important. He also started a petty poll about the Helen Ward mural. That's about it really. I don't follow him but he comes up on my broader thread because other Watfordy people do and it all just looks a bit childish.
Seems to me infantile to have a go at a tribute to someone who has been an exemplary professional. We've had very little good news of late and let's face it it's going to get worse come tomorrow. Plenty else to moan at other than a woman who's given her all and been rewarded with a mural if not the riches of Croesus. Sad.
He’a certainly become more irrational the last 3 weeks or so. Used to like reading/listening to his views first half of the season but he’s gone off the rails recently.
I have not renewed my season ticket, I will be watching the ladies play next reason, far more entertaining and rewarding.
Some top level trolling of this guy by the club as I see they have announced who isnt being retained for the Women's team yet still nothing about the mens team.
