Hope you're wrong about Dennis. I think he's enjoying his football which he clearly hadn't been doing previously and would be settled here knowing how loved he is! You're right though, won't stop the vultures circling if he carries on. More worried about him being called up for the AFCON.
Yeah, sadly I think that's unavoidable given it was a distinct possibility anyway and that's before he joined the Prem and instantly distinguished himself in it...
What a f*cking win! Huge 3 points, and definitely not expected in the midst of 6 rotten fixtures but we fully deserved it. We played to our strength, playing quick, pressing high and using our physicality. Louza looked very tidy, Moussa was a tank again, and Cleverley was immense pressing high up, aggressive in the tackle and caused so much unrest for Utd turning over possession for us mnay times. Great for Sarr to get a goal after the penalty fiasco, he needed it! King and Dennis fantastic again, work rate was unreal. Kiko with a fantastic performance too. We even went through a wobble conceding early in the second half and didn't collapse. Shows the level of performance we can get out of this team when everyone is on it. Claudio working wonders! Loved how we went for their throat even when 2-1 up, none of this going to the corner sh1te, we went in for the kill and were rewarded with 2 more goals. Simply lovely.
Oh I am going to look forward to Goldbridge's ranting tonight. Well done lads. You could see the slow improvements since Liverpool and I think Claudio is building something here. Amazingly, as good as this result was, no other results went our way Crazy day!! But it's been a very good day in yellow.
Absolutely incredible! A proper "I was there" game that'll be remembered for a while! Huge credit to the everyone, not a weak link today. I look forward to laughing at my southern Man Utd- supporting mates. Just ******* amazing.
Mahusive result for our survival chances. United were there for the taking today but we had to take advantage of that especially with a couple of nul pointers on the horizon. Boy did we take advantage!! Ranieri's underdogs were on fire today - woof woof!! These are the special days that make the small club grind in the PL so worth it. Incredible day and given the trajectory of this season and the future of the club, I'd say it's one of the most important victories in our history.
Fantastic, Ole has just called us ‘physical and direct’. Straight out of the embarrassing loss cliche handbook.
Absolutely great to watch a game like that as a Watford fan. Strange that you would be a little disappointed that they didn’t score more. When Utd put any effort in, they cut us open, which is obviously a concern going forward. But today is a day to enjoy. Getting 3 points from one of the giants of the game is special.
Purely, solely, singularly in relation to his own team's relative lack of required physicality and utter indirectness, it's a fair cop.
Pretty sure they only started cutting us open when Nkoulou went off and WTE came on, no? I could see at least twice when WTE was clearly at fault for them getting in behind for a big opportunity - shockingly, I know.
He gave it a decent go, in fairness, given that McTominay stayed on the pitch even after receiving a yellow for a later incident that wasn't the penalty - Hargreaves and Karen Carney on the river I was watching both thought he should have been off for DOGSO straight away, so to not even get booked for the tackle and therefore survive when he did it again later was pretty criminal.
All of the talk in the media will be about how crap Man United were. But don't let that fool us. We was excellent today, the tempo and energy was brilliant and we were very direct in our attacks, United simply couldn't handle us.
First game I've managed to be at the Vic for all season and what a game. Couldve been 6/7 but huge credit to everyone, only a few nervy minutes. On a side note I can't remember another instance of the encroaching rule being enforced - would it have applied if Kiko wasn't the one to put it in the net?
It already is. Soccer Saturday post match has been all about United, how they shouldn't be losing to us. Clinton Morrison was the only one to gie us any credit.
Absolutely agree, I thought Cleverly particularly looked up for it, the tackle on maguire (and sending off), came out of nowhere and just showed how much we wanted every ball. sissoko is a great captain , shouldn’t be allowed to shoot but he certainly was driving everything forward would love to have seen kucka go through the Man Utd superstars , but the rest of the team made up for it thought for a min we were going to go for the corner and try and run the clock down, but then we seemed to just go **** it and went for the goals is this what we can expect from CR70 , please please please can we play like this against Man City
Pre season I said Dennis was the signing most likely to exceed expectations as long as he got enough minutes. I thought he seemed to be the hungriest of the new signings and I was advocating him playing #9 against Villa in the 1st game (seemed to work out ok!). He has incredible skill, technique and desire. What he needed was a stage on which he could show his ability and the right environment to excel in. As long as he feels valued, appreciated and respected at the club and is given the opportunity to do what he did today, I don't think he'll be in a hurry to leave. He's already experienced the wilderness he was in at Koln and the way his time at Brugge turned into a nightmare. If he's happy at the vic I don't think he'll be in a hurry to leave. Incredible signing.
Tim Sherwood was pretty condescending...can't stand him. It was Utd losing the game rather than us outplaying them...until the presenter pointed out we had 20 attempts at goal.
Special shout-out to king today. He was turning up everywhere and getting hold of the ball and keeping it. Otherwise it was just lovely seeing us winning the second balls and 50/50s. Unlike sky sports I’m not gonna focus on how bad ManU are. We wanted it more and Cathcart vs Ronaldo was good fun.
Well done on the foresight (genuinely) - I still think he'll be attracting offers in the summer and probably want to go, but I obviously hope as much as is possible that he has the kind of level-headedness you ascribe to him for at least one more year.
Yes, I too think that after seeing their team of relative man-mountains standing next to the thundering Goliaths that are Dennis, Sarr, Kiko, JP and Cucho.
