Vydra about to sign for Watford (according to Sky Sports) 'Sky Sports understands Watford are close to sealing the signing of loan star Matej Vydra on a permanent basis. Vydra has been a revelation for Watford since arriving on a season-long loan deal from Udinese last summer. The 20-year-old has scored 18 goals in 27 appearances for Watford and his performances have attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs. Watford and Udinese are both owned by the Pozzo family and talks are thought to be at an advanced stage to make Vydra's move to Vicarage Road permanent. Gianfranco Zola is keen to secure the services of Vydra and the club are thought to have offered the Czech Republic hit-man a five-year deal to make his switch permanent. The news will be a massive boost for Watford's promotion bid should they be able to keep hold of one of the best talents in the Championship.' This is absolutely fantastic news if true. Premiership here we come.
Would love this to happen, but without wishing to put a dampener on events there are a lot of 'understandings and thoughts' in that statement - nothing concrete! Five year deal would be awesome - sign the contract today and then bang a hat-trick tomorrow...
Does that mean bad news is going to come out also? That's always has politics works, please don't be politics. :dismay:
Chalobah extends his contract to stay for whole season, then Forestieri signs a 5 year deal, Vydra to sign soon (hopefully another 5 year deal) and Deeney is also looking like he will be signing a new contract very soon. Very exciting times. If we can also sign Abdi, Battochio, Ekstrand & Pudil on long contracts and Casseti for another year we are going to have one hell of a good team (and nearly all of them will be Watford players).
wood prefer 2 sign fessi coz we carnt rely on vyrda all v time if fessi go bak 2 udense ven we need anuver good skill playr like adamoaha from bristol city:sign15:
As said nothing concrete yet in that article, but it'd be nice to think this is an indication of something coming up soon.
I wonder if any clubs have been in for Abdi yet. Obviously Vydra grabs the headlines for his goals but you only need to watch Abdi for 20 minutes to see that he completely runs the show. Never looks panicked, always seem to find himself in space and he assists, or is at least heavily involved in almost all of our goals when he's on the pitch. Almost as important to sign him on a perm as Vydra, imo. Class player.
Whilst this looks good and I hope he's signed, I'm waiting anxiously to here this is concluded. Roma made a pretty substantial offer for Vyrda yesterday that would include the swapping of a Roma player Udinese have courted for some time, it the Pozzo's turn that down and give him to us for free, I can't help but feel their fans are going to turn (many already have). If we beat Roma to the signing of a player, well then, ****ing hell its a good time to be a Watford fan.
I'm hopeful the signings of Vydra, Pudil, Abdi and Battocchio will all be announced tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
http://www.football-italia.net/30064/roma-eye-vydra-move Roma are looking at the possibility of signing Matej Vydra from Udinese after the long-term lay-off of Mattia Destro. The Italy international will be out for at least two months following knee surgery, and fellow forward Nicolas Lopez also looks set to leave the club having failed to make an impression at Stadio Olimpico. As such, Goal.com believe that Zdenek Zeman's team could make an offer for the 20-year-old who is on-loan at Watford. The Czech Republic international has been in fine form this season for the Championship side, scoring 18 goals in 24 matches.
It's more than that, they've made offers and they really want him. Saying that, I'll cream myself if despite this we get him, and if the others sign, I genuinely may cry with happiness, I haven't done that since Lloyd scored.
If we sell him now, then the Pozzos lose my support. I'd rather go back to having players who wouldn't attract the attention of teams like Roma and Spurs. I'm sick of this. With Forsyth at least you knew he was going nowhere.
Selling Vydra to Spurs for £8m or to Roma just wouldn't make sense when he can help Watford get promoted which is worth so much more to the Pozzos. They could then let him play a year or two in the Prem and then still flog him for £15m+. This gives me confidence that Vydra will sign along with the others, however, until that happens I'm going to keep my fingers, toes and everything else crossed.
It makes me feel better that people I trust are saying he's signed already.. Just need to see it to believe it. Saturday will be absolutely rocking if we go into the game second, with all the players signed up, and a new addition or two.
Any idea whats going on with Helan? thought that might have been wrapped up by now. And Perea aswell, obviously he is on international duty but have Udinese actually signed him yet?
A year in the Premier League and Roma will have to offer double whatever they bid for Vydra. Pozzo's aren't idiots. He'll be here at least the rest of the season, next year as well if we go up.
£8m or promotion to the Premier League? Hmmmm, that's a tough one... He won't be signing for anyone other than us in this window, the Pozzo's know what they're doing, and that won't include selling our best player for a fraction of what he'll potentially be worth in a couple of years and a fraction of the money selling him could potentially cost the club in Premier League money.
Maybe the plan is to announce the new signings at the same time as the FL verdict, to cheer us up a bit
