Lol ... do you even know what cash rich is? Our owners made 100m profit on transfers alone last season, Udinese are worldwide number one for player generated income.

If todays stories that Hull have agreed to sell Shane Long to Southampton for 12m then 3 things need to be said
    - A fool and his money are soon parted
    - If Long is worth £12m then £10m for Troy is too low and we should insist on a buyback clause so we can have him back when we go up and they go down if we want him
    - Bruce will be on the blower today and we can say well you red faced **** - to you £12m!

Fingers crossed, government suppression of democracy and anti corruption campaigners in Thailand continues. Otherwise you will end up as cash rich as Accrington Stanley.

Let's be honest, it'd be farkin stupid of us to accept a deal now for him. He could easily score more goals, which would see his value rise (albeit not by much). Add to the fact that if Remy leaves QPHaha then they'll definitely come in for Deeney with some ****ing outrageous bid and wages that Leicester won't match (I'm not talking about how much money the two clubs have, I'm talking about how crazy QPHaha are to offer immensely high wages to a player, which Leicester just won't match because they're not stupid enough to do that) because Redknapp has publicly come out and said that he wants Deeney.

Then add Steve Bruce and Hull who are looking likely (-ish) to sell Long to Southampton and you've got another team who will enter the running. Yes Bruce has said that he doesn't know where these Deeney to Hull rumours have come from, but that's a bare-faced lie if I've ever seen it. He's said that publicly to try and convince Long to stay (which would be more ideal for him) but if anyone thinks he's got a contingency plan if Long leaves and that Deeney isn't a part of it, then they're just simple. And to top it all off, there are three rounds of fixtures in the Prem which could see at least one other team not mentioned scoring 0 goals. They'll be desperate to finalise a deal before the window shuts, making them more desperate and willing to part with more cash to secure Deeney. Heck, I wouldn't even rule out teams like Swansea (if they sell Bony) or Villa to come in for Deeney.

And who cares if we don't sell him! We've kept another 20+goal striker who would be highly important to our season and our aim for promotion. If he continues to score, then his value would only increase for the January transfer window. If he doesn't, you'd expect a club to bid for him on the basis that they're not paying as much for him as they would have done now, so the bids would be lower, but we'd still be making a profit which ain't too bad.

I know all of these thoughts have come up on this thread on different pages but I thought I might as well summarise all the key points for any wandering Leicester/QPHaha/Hull etc. fans who would obviously be reading this thread.

£15m and you'll have to offer him £60k a week to prize him away.

I think a lot hangs on a contract extension. Without one now is the most sensible time.

Deeney is far better than Ulloa. Therefore you will need to offer significantly more to prise him away.

    Simple.

If you are waiting to get rid of an average target man on small wages for a minimal fee before signing Deeney, as well as making an inferior player your first main transfer target, then you clearly do want him enough.

I’ll be upset if Deeney goes, especially to Leicester, but I’ll be partially satisfied to read your forums after we have bleed you dry for every penny in your transfer budget that you have left.

Get him a new contract, £15m release clause. Don't necessarily offer him too much more of a wage but an enormous promotion bonus.

Prob with that , is if we go up and he scores 10 goals in the prem by next january, anyone can get him for £15m when his value skyrockets.

    (lol).

Put in a clause voiding the release clause if we get promoted. Sorted.

Well his contract expires in June 2016 so we can afford to not sell him now and then decide to either sell him in Jan or extend his contract.

Agreed but will there be such large bids about? A lot can happen between now and then and personally I don't see Troy as essential, we have plenty of options including other Pozzo players we yet know nothing about.

He is essential if Vydra has an understanding and plays off of him well.

It takes two to tango you know :party1:

I see him as highly important Godfather , its not just his goals ,his dressing room banter ,sleep cam workrate ,club captain etc ,he would not be easily replaced igloo yet to get going ,Ranagie I dont rate anyway close to Deeney . If Troy goes I`m not saying we still cant go up what I am saying is it makes it 2 or 3 times harder.
Think a bit why did MV come back ? maybe a small reason of many was to reignite his career his favourite strike partner! If TD goes will MV sulk and demand a move as well !
personally this is something I wouldnt risk until the winter window.

If worst comes to worst, we can just sign him back next Summer so he can stay in the Premier League.

FFS he's a Championship football player not a demigod! .... I'm sure Gino and Nani will weigh all these things up before allowing a sale, they are not stupid.
The Pozzos may have another Alexis Sanchez tucked away somewhere for all we know!

A player who I believe will do well in prem with right club if that happens what value then , better to hold him increase chance of promo jackpot and let him prove you wrong next season still playing for us ;)

Did you cry when Danny Graham got sold to Swansea?

  21. Norwayhornet

    Norwayhornet Squad Player

No but I was very annoyed that we let him go so cheaply ! See then market forces and club being broke put us in a very weak position.

Now things are a little different ,there are 2 teams interested in Troy with maybe a 3 rd joining in , be stupid to sell this minute , wait and see what best offer is in next fortnight, then balance that against potential gain if bids are rejected .
I guess its the old bird in the hand argument.
However in chess and on poker table I`m not averse to the odd gambit ;) I think Gino is savvy enough to weigh up the options.
All this conjecture is irrelevant if Troy wants to leave ,if he did wouldnt he have put in a request ?

  22. Godfather

At this moment I think there's only one club interested though there could be PL clubs currently in preseason or training that are struggling in the department. There's still almost 3 weeks and barring possible injury to Troy I see no reason to rush. We aren't exactly desperate for the cash but we also can not be oblivious to Troy's financial value.
Troy is but one player ... we have lots

I agree. If he goes, he goes. Someone will have to step up.

But if he goes for anything less than £15m in this sellers market, we should go protest with HB1.

I would rather that the newly promoted teams give us all their money for our players rather than we have to get promoted to get the cash and then face the tedious business of getting stuffed each week to a worldwide audience like they will.

moog wants to sell him cheap. He can do one.
