I guess because they've only recently been convinced to have the vaccine at all?

Indeed. We were lucky that Liverpool were without 2 of their stars which helped keep the score close. Might be able to keep Everton down to 3 or 4.

We will also be without any players as good as any of those you mentioned.

Leeds didn’t have Bamford and Newcastle didn’t have Wilson, makes no differences if you’re dog ****.

Do they have the 2nd worse medical team then with so many injuries?

Wasn't the Gray tonsillitis made up? He'll be fit on Saturday to tear Kiko a new one, who will then throw in the towel around half an hour in.

Not a surprise. Watch them poach Claudio now. I do sort of feel sorry for Bruce - he did pretty well keeping Newcastle up for as long as he has, despite the continued unrest by
the fan base over the years.

No surprise Bruce has gone - only that is took so long !

Guess someone is lined up now.

First job for them is to keep Newcastle up ..

Gone by 'mutual consent' Yeah right. I'm pleased that he got the sack, as he tried his best to relegate us a couple of years ago, but apart from that, it will probably make Newcastle stronger, which is bad for us of course.

The Newcastle fans are a special bunch, Bruce failed but Ashley didn’t spend enough money. So should Bruce have got them in to Europe with a squad that still had 7 of their championship players starting on Sunday? Which is it then?

I really cannot see Newcastle being near the drop zone by the new year. Wait till January and they start splashing the cash. Brentford could still go on an awful run, like we did second half under QSF 1.0. I would rather want to see us improve and use last week's humiliation as a kick up the backside to get our season going. Newcastle could well still struggle, but I think the new injection of investment will attract a much better Head Coach than Bruce, and he/she will steer them well clear by May.

    Bruce also retiring from football.

All that relentless hounding of a local man.

    Congratulations, Newcastle. You ****s.

Praying they bring in Howe, could see them relegated if that happens. Strong rumours around him too.

As a local lad cannot have been easy for him or his family hearing all that abuse for doing ok considering the circumstances.

Steve Bruce is a pretty decent manager IMHO. A thousand games managed of mid table teams, most of whom went backwards after he left.

I think Newcastle are in a difficult moment. Will a decent manger turn up and demand players who may not want to go. Frankly they are being linked with squad players from the big 6 like Lingard. They really need a trophy signing to drag others along. They should recruitment a head of football with the status that would encourage decent managers to apply. A sort of Wenger figure, with a reputation in world football.

The Newcastle money will be felt next season if they survive, which is not given. They are in the same group as us. Three from Norwich, Newcastle, Burnley, Leeds, Watford, Southampton, Crystal Palace, Brentford and Aston Villa. I think Leicester, Arsenal and Wolves will be ok this season.

Any two from those PLUS Watford. Watford are certainties for relegation because they don't have any decent defenders.

That's a Newcastle fan for you. Move forward one year from now and they'll be throwing their tea towels in the bin. Dismayed they've not yet won the league. But they better stop short about calling for the manager's head, as that is probably literally what they'll get.

Which stars were Liverpool missing? Don’t remember this being mentioned before the game and it looked a pretty strong line-up.

Hmm, I don’t think those players would’ve made any difference to the scoreline but it might’ve made it even harder for us to create chances if that’s possible.

Their goalkeeper had absolutely nothing to do, so being without Alisson made zero difference.

That's interesting - I'm subscribed to Behind the Bastards, because I listened to the entirety of Robert Evans' previous (fascinating) podcast, 'It Could Happen Here', follow him on Twitter as a result, etc etc.

But the two or three times I've tried to get into BTB by listening to an episode, I've just not been grabbed at all - I love Robert Evans and his style, but his co-hosts/guests always seem (from my limited experience) to be pretty annoying, and actively take away from the narrative of the subject. I want to like it but I don't, as it stands, if you get me.

For full disclosure, the ones I've 'tried' are Andy Ngo, Reinhard Heydrich part one and the weird libertarian theme park in New Jersey.

Munoz failed, but Gino didn't spend enough money (or at least in the right places). Both can be true.

Munoz wouldn’t have failed if we stayed up, finished in 12th, and then 13th place the next season.

You can't judge it from the outside, how many of us were irate at the wider population and media for saying 7 points from 7 games was good for a newly promoted team? Results can be flattering.
