In theory possibly but not sure I can see a way that could play out in practice though. He's contracted to Watford to 2025.

Just in passing, did I read that Reading are in trouble re FFP and in line for a points deduction? or whatever letters it's meant to be!

Yup. 9pts apparently coming for them. I think they're trying to do some sort of deal to avoid the expense of a disciplinary hearing.

Tbf, unless Sissoko has a storming season, I don't think he'd go, he was happy enough to join us in this position in the first place. Fair point on Etebo, Stoke definitely didn't see the best of him (although in mitigation, he was happy to join them in the Championship, and that squad was absolutely rotten to the core, I'd like to think we don't have as many negative influences!). TDB could decide he wants to play Prem football without us, although he'd have essentially one season's experience of playing in the Championship in his entire career under his belt at that stage, and given that there are a few players in our squad who would be sold first, I'd like to think we'd have enough clout to keep hold of players like him, even in normal times, it's not as if whole squads are sold in the case of relegation

Yeah the scenario I'm envisaging wouldn't necessarily so much be an 'I'm off lads', but more of an 'I have an inflated opinion of myself having played more than 30 minutes this season and don't forget I'm a City academy prodigy, don't you know', as a result of which he'd be just a bit disruptive/moody/not 100% committed. Forcing his way out is highly unlikely to be on the cards, but not being in the frame of mind to drive us through a hopeful promotion campaign (if he's capable) might just end up slightly more so.

Yeah, but then again he did join us in the Prem. He's a player whose spent his entire career playing in the top division of whatever country he's in, and he was still in the France squad during Euro 2020, however sparingly-used. At 32/33, I don't think he'll see himself as over the hill, or entirely out of contention nationally (whether that's true or not), and I could 100% see him pulling a Capoue and instantly seeking a way out - back to France, or maybe Italy. Obviously, I can't know that for sure, but it's the way the runes read to me. Let's hope we don't have to find out whether I'm right or not!

Brighton or Palarse? I would want Brighton to win to keep the egg and chips down with us. ;)

Yup. Hughes is on the bench again, it'll be interesting to see if Vieira brings him on at all.

Bit of a snooze fest so far. Hope it livens up. Shame Harry the Hornet isn't there to dive in front of Zaha.

Did Trossard really lean in that much for a pen? Debatable. Still game needed a goal, hopefully it improves now SH.

Soft penalty by the sounds of it ?

Although they don’t seem sure of it was for the first push by the full back or foul by Trossard.

Wouldn't be happy to concede that penalty.

Those things get waved away all the time.

It looked more like a nudge? Sort of what Cassetiti did to that diving cheat in the PO Semi in 2013.

Wilf looked close to tears (again). Brighton hardly had a sniff all night & they score 5 minutes into added time. Lol.

Still not sure Brighton are that good, they've had a kinder start than most with a fair bit of luck and Palace are one of the easier teams in the Prem to get a result at. Still, they've built a healthy cushion already and it would require a pretty hefty collapse for them to get sucked in.

I thought it was a fair penalty, stupid foul.
Poetic justice for Palace. They stole the points last season when BHA had 27 shots and P had 3 and scored twice.
He is such a gold plated tart!
Was muttering away like Muttley at the end!

B***'ks ! I had Palace in the predictions comp! Late goals always happen to me :( Still, more than happy with Palace staying behind us.

We finish this week's round of fixtures in 12th place. Not too shabby, all things considered. Somebody who didn't know any better might easily mistake us for a mid-table side at this point.

The first push was outside the box though, so no idea what Henry was blabbering on about there.

Still, I can understand why the pen was given, but it was totally unnecessary by Trossard - Gallagher was already falling, had little control of the ball and was heading straight in to a crowd of Brighton defenders.

    You are so right.
Only those teams in 10th and 11th can call themselves mid table. ;)

We are currently mid table, but it seems more by the poor performance of others rather than our good work. We need to improve to maintain our position.

Norwich have got a massive game, they play Burnley. For once it would be nice if they got something as if we get anything at Leeds it pushes us further clear.

Both will be in the bottom 5/6, but it'll be much more preferable to us for Nodge to get something as they're looking for all the world that they'll come last. Unfortunately, Burnley will almost certainly be too battle-hardened for the 'nice' boys from Norfolk, especially at Turf Moor

Burnley will always stay up. Whether they're 7th or 17th, they know how to win enough games.

Stoke and Charlton would have stayed up forever too, if they hadn't decided to try playing football.

Not strictly Premier League, but Danjuma is absolutely wrecking Diego Dalot in the Champions League.

    Capoue looking tidy, too.

I think we’ll beat United in a few weeks.

Capoue was just sensational last night, I know some were eulogising over Deulofeu again recently but when you see Etienne put in performances like that in the CL even at an advanced age it really underlines to me that he's been our best player of the Pozzo era.

Danjuma was excellent as well, can't believe some on here were doubting if he could have made the step up from the Champ (not that we could have afforded him anyway).

Dalot is an absolutely shocking footballer though, truly terrible. Utd should have cashed in when they could last summer. I'd fancy any PL winger with a bit of pace to destroy him. Danjuma still looked good even when running against some of Utd's other players though, so it wasn't just to do with being up against a hopeless full-back.
