Loser mentality. I have no idea why Norwich gave him a new deal but he must be laughing all the way to the bank. Piss the Championship, get a promotion bonus, then Herr Farke just try your best in the PL and if we go down repeat the process.

So...they budgeted to possibly get 19th place? Don't let reality get in the way of your dreams, Daniel!

The problem is, you can't keep ******* the Championship, eventually you're gonna come unstuck. Norwich have quite a few loan players who almost certainly won't stick around back in the Championship, no Buendia, possibly no Cantwell and Aarons, and key players like Pukki will be older, I feel they may be sleepwalking to a big surprise next season in the Championship.

Us on the other hand, in the not unlikely event of us going down, I do feel as though we could have some fun next season in the Champo, we'll lose a few players, but obviously not everyone, and we have some very exciting young players in the EFL this year

Outcomes that would suite us today:

    Wolves and Southampton draw
    Spuds beat @rse.

Unless anyone can see another better one?

A Palarse draw or defeat tomorrow would also be handy.

I wouldn't be too worried about Wolves-Soton I think they'll both be pretty safe in lower mid table (though gun to the head I suspect Wolves will be higher). All eyes on Turf Moor next weekend, come on you useless Canaries!

That is pretty incredible to be fair. I know we played absolute sh!te against them and handed them three points, but cannot deny what an exceptional start they have made. Ok, very lucky with the win over Leicester.

I don’t think Leicester will be anywhere near the race for CL qualification, they seem to have gone back to being average (they finished last season with 10 points from 9 games which they have carried over into this one), though it wouldn’t surprise me if they have another good run in Europe.

I think they will be less affected by relegation than we will. We will have no midfield, no Sarr and quite possibly no Dennis or King. Team will be built around Sema, Cathcart & Bachmann.

Nobody but the big four will be anywhere near the CL spots this season, so they may as well focus on Europe, that’s what I’d want if we were in their position.

Exactly, our whole midfield is on loan. Relegation was dangerous last time, it would be catastrophic next time. Sarr money may keep us afloat for a season or two but we'd be reliant on Udinese for replacements, who aren't anywhere the level they were 10 years ago.

    Wow.

That really is a truly depressing but quite viable statistic.

But as I've said, they'll have no Normann, Kabak, Gilmour or Williams, Pukki will be a year older, and I dare say any of their players with any kind of track record in the Prem will want to stick around for a 3rd stint in the Championship. Sarr would leave obviously, but relegation wouldn't mean everyone would be off, and we've got some interesting looking players to come back. It's very easy to look at how easily they managed to navigate the Championship in 18/19 and 20/21 and assume they'll do the same again, but one day they'll come unstuck, and I dare say if we actually get our **** together from day one rather than wait until the new year for our players to turn up, we'd have absolutely nothing to worry about them in the Championship

I'm probably guilty of saying this as well but on the whole Udinese players have been fantastic for us in the Championship.

Sissoko isn't on loan, Kucka effectively isn't I believe, and while Etebo definitely is on loan, I don't think our permanent option is necessarily linked to us staying up. On the flip side, we have TDB to come back, and he's made a really good start to the season with Reading (dare I suggest we think about recalling him in January if we can?). Don't forget Dan Phillips, who's done well when he's played for Gillingham this season, and while we all know about Zinckernagel's faults, he's a fine option at Championship level

I suspect he meant they won't stick around if we go down.

I presume if players went like Sarr will we might re-invest in the squad.

    Not on a defender though!

Obviously we wouldn't be able to rely on a whole team of Udinese cast-offs again, but last season we took Sierralta who was one of the best players in the entire division, and WTE, who wasn't exactly a cast-off, but who they were perfectly happy to get rid of (and of course Perica, who wasn't terrible). I'm sure there are decent players of theirs who would be happy to play for us in the Championship (assuming they don't go down, which they shouldn't this season)

Let's be honest, Pollock is probably the Pozzos' answer to our defensive questions next season if we go down. Might not be the worst option mind you!

At least one of the established PL teams is going to drop this season. Newcastle? Southampton? Palace? Burnley?

Something not quite right at each of these clubs.

5 clubs with no wins on the board and Palace have one freak win against 10 men. I'm certain Leeds will be fine as they have a system, but the others? Hmmm...

Certainly think they're more likely than Wolves to struggle, but Norwich, us and Newcastle are far more likely to struggle than either of these teams

Their form has been very poor since last Xmas, it wouldn't surprise me.

Sound like one of the better teams for Wolves to end their bad run against, though funnily enough this time the opposition are the dominant side.

  31. MIlton Dammers

True but Norwich, us and Newcastle wouldn't really be much of a surprise. There's usually at least one side who unexpectedly find themselves in a relegation scrap. I'd be a bit worried if I were a Saints fan.

Just did a little stat check - we didn't get close to 7pts last time out in the Premiership till we ironically, beat Norwich at their dump. Points wise we seem to be doing better, but looking at the games leading up to that Norwich win
under QSF 2.0, some very winnable games. We all know why and what happened that season, but my point is the group we have now seem to be able to (hopefully) make more a fist of survival than that load of mercenaries did.

The problem is, most of us believe Newcastle will be in the bottom three, or certainly a contender. That’s the same Newcastle who should have thrashed us at home.

From what I’ve seen so far, I just cannot find three teams that I think are worse than us.

Yes, we’re better than Norwich but three go down. Newcastle were a side we needed to measure ourself against and we failed miserably.

Southampton's first eleven is passable but once you get past that it's an awful squad. They could be in real danger but luckily for them Hasenhuttl seems to be able to get them going again during a bad spell.
