Been on the cards for a while. Fact is we've had external auditors advising us on the accounts and the 'add-backs' allowed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, including offsetting infrastructure costs, women's football expenditure, Covid losses for the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons and youth development costs etc make the headline figure of 300 odd million redundant. It's about £84 million. For Burnley or Leeds to win a legal challenge, they'd need to prove that the signed off accounts are fraudulent.

On top of that, let's not forget that West Ham were genuinely guilty of deliberately flouting the rules and lying to the PL about them on the Tevez and Mascherano deals 15 years or so back and got away with a fine

    I am not concerned

I'd have done the same in Vieira's position. "Lord" Sugar is a **** though.

A bit different to celebrating staying in 'The Greatest League in the world'(™️). Especially for one of the big clubs (lol).

You get to smack one over the head with a tennis racket, do you use it on Sir Gary, Wilf Zaha, Ben Foster or Boris Becker?

Tbf smaller clubs like Bournemouth and QPR avoided any real punishment with FFP so don’t think it’s just Everton getting away with it as they are big .

Appreciate the different viewpoint and well done for not biting at some of the bile. It adds tremendous value having genuine fans of other clubs on this site.
I have a daughter up that way and she told me the scenes in the city centre after your rivals won the FA Cup were like nothing she's seen in Watford before.

I'd have to play 'rock, paper, scissors' to decide between Mr Tumble and GL.
I'll think about it on court and ask my lessons, although I'm not sure the 8 year old at 1pm will be much help!

Nowt wrong with a few tears after a huge win, although some of the pitch invaders' reactions are obviously OTT

I could only take one of two conclusions from this (and neither are meant to be insulting, but I'm struggling to articulate them particularly well)...

    1) You're hardened by your own experiences

    2) Everton means more to them than Watford does to you

Neither are negatives, it's just different

The Scortish Cup final seems to be just as bad - also 2nd vs 3rd, still no goals and hardly any shots on target!

Sorry Filbert, but Crisp Boy for his thinly disguised dislike of Watford. Zaha I’d probably miss as he fell over. I’d throw it to the cycling GK, not knowing whether he’d catch it brilliantly or let it sail over him. Boris Becker? Don’t know who he plays for.

Dreadful game and dreadfully one-sided with Hearts just playing for pens (5 shots in 2 hrs, not one on target).

As one commentator said it looked like Hearts had played on Wednesday- not Rangers .

Then again they had lost 3-1 to Rangers youth team the week before .

The gulf in Scotland is ridiculous. The equivalent to a team on a par with Wolves playing a Rotherham in the final.

Scottish football, it’s like Tyson Fury versus the worlds best Welterweight - it’s not a competition worth of serious consideration.

In fairness to Hearts they did manage to bridge what is normally a monumental gap between the Old Firm (or Gruesome Twosome as fans of other Scottish clubs like to call them) and the rest by actually finishing 2nd above Rangers in 3rd, but that was a long time ago (back when George Burley used to be a good manager, which is a good indication) - I can’t remember another example in recent seasons (like, say, Aberdeen getting into the top two, not counting the seasons Rangers were out of the Scottish top flight of course). Admittedly I haven’t followed Scottish football closely lately, but it seems to me to happen far less often than Leicester, West Ham or Newcastle occasionally breaking into the PL top six.

It used to be reasonably competitive several decades ago. Players turned out for their local side and street football was all the rage. Heart of Midlothian won several titles along with other clubs. But the Old Firm gradually grew stronger and stronger and sucked the life out of the other clubs taking their best kids as well every season. Fergie's Aberdeen interrupted the dominance but when his side was dismantled it's been incredibly boring. The imbalance in population size between the Glasgow connurbation and the rest is another reason.

However Scottish football is deemed to be boring it's a two horse race. In Germany it's a one horse show. That is even more boring.

Just caught up on this thread, enjoyable read on the whole.

One thing I can’t get my head around. You’re an Everton fan buzzing about the late drama and get caught up on the emotion so run on the pitch to celebrate. Fine, no issue with that. By all means have a good old cry as well.

What I’m struggling with is the abuse at Viera? Some little muppet backed up by a few thousand others giving it large doesn’t surprise me. But Everton weren’t competing with Palace for anything? So what’s the point in that? Just an excuse to say stuff to any professional footballer or manager? Weird.

Doesn’t help when 2 of the bigger clubs out side the Old Firm cannot get into the top 6 as Aberdeen and Hibs didn’t!
