Really don't want Newcastle to win because the longer that abysmal albatross of 'no wins' is hanging over them, the better for everyone else involved, but indeed, at the same time, we certainly don't want Burnley slingshotting us. How many draws can we actually pray for?

That result and the manner of it at Southampton is the best possible outcome, they'll be absolutely gutted from conceding so late on (plus we'll go above them in the unlikely event we win) and it means Brighton, who are winless in ten, remain on the fringes of the battle.

 

Well we have come out of the other side of the hard fixtures outside of the relegation zone.

 

Looked the better team until Cornett went off injured, hopefully for us he will be out for a few games including when we go there on the 15th.

 

Brighton have gone 9 league games without a win now as well.

 

Cornett sounds like a typical Burnley clogger full-back, not at all like the wonderfully talented Ivorian international Maxwel Cornet

 

Interesting... Southampton have both keepers injured.

Youngster Harry Lewis only fit GK for the Christmas period.

 

How have they only got 2 proper keepers? Even the Pozzos have an experienced 3rd choice as back up to the back up.

 

It's a bit of a joke if Southampton can bring in an emergency keeper, they have Lewis who is 23 so he's hardly a kid. Then they have a few keepers in their U23s. We've currently got 18 year old Angelini as backup to step into the squad in case Bachmann or Elliot get injured.

 

Are they allowed to sign a keeper on an emergency loan?

 

With permission from the PL, yes.

 

If they can sign a keeper on emergency loan we should be able to sign a whole new defence.

 

Just heard Ivan Toney out today with covid. Surely means missing our game next Friday ?

 

I obviously wouldn't wish covid on anyone and hopefully Toney is fine, but that massively helps us out for Friday night.

 

What it means is that if we lose the team should be immediately disbanded, effectively.

 

I think it's wonderful that the choice of being able to watch any of today's 2pm Premier League kick offs has been taken away in order to try to force more people to watch the women's FA Cup final.

I'm not in any way anti-women's football; I've been to a Women's Champions League Final and I've been to a 2nd vs 3rd division women's early round FA Cup match, in which I almost froze to death for the privilege, among others. But it's these kind of insane forced acts that engender bad feeling and gives ammunition to those sections who are 'anti' women's football (whatever that means).

It's similar to this strange effect, here evidenced in a Guardian column I was reading yesterday (which carried a headline themed around Olivia Rodrigo but somehow switched to Ellen White and her goals for England against Latvia) - there's this vociferous drive to constantly compare and try and draw it on an identical level to the men's game, and it's just not in any way the same thing; a really weird construct. There are plenty of fans of women's football who will say the same thing, too - the point is not to gaslight that it's a duplicate of the Premier League or the men's game, but to appreciate it for its own relative merit.

So is that genuinely why there are no 2pms televised, the woman’s FA Cup?

What a ridiculous policy, you either want to watch it or you don’t, instead I’m just watching QPR vs Stoke because comparatively it’s still a much better standard of football.

 

Terrible refereeing in the Tottenham Norwich game. Spurs had a 2 on 1 with Son in acres of space in the middle the referee doesn't play advantage but blows up for a Tottenham free kick on the halfway line.

 

Toney riddled, surely misses our game?

 

To be honest I can't see Leeds staying down there, they have a few important players to come back from injury yet. In my opinion it would be better for Brentford to lose as they are more likely to be relegated than Leeds.
