Ayew probably better than Gray or Fletcher.

But yeah, nothing there that is better than what we have.

I don't think Brentford have a squad close to doing well next season. Toney is IMO not going to set the world alight. Didn't someone produce a stat that if Gray had started most games he would have had 15-20?. Toney just gets minutes, takes penalties and is a bigger target man so scores some headers.

    And Swansea were garbage.

Always a nice type of symmetry when 1,2 and 3 go up

The guy who got their 2nd goal just had his interview. Out of contract so good luck to him getting one after that. Probably didn’t help his cause by essentially saying they are tin pot!

Quite pleased Swansea are feeling the pain tonight. Were c0cky little sh1ts last season. Giving it big and thinking they were something special.

I remember walking away from a Swansea match a few seasons ago and their fans were very anti-English. I hated their attitude so it's quite nice they have not been rewarded.

Pleased for Brentford, I've always had a soft spot for them, and they seem to be run in a sustainable and innovative way. And Toney definitely impressed me when I got to my only live game of the season against them, he looked a right handful, full of running and closing down.

I’m old fashioned but I always think the side coming 3rd should go up.

Putting aside the fact we are in it next season, as a football watcher it will be nice having a new team in the PL.

It will make FPL a bit more interesting too. I wonder how much Toney will cost? 6.5 million I’d guess.

@hornetboy1 I’m not surprised the Swansea (and Cardiff) fans are anti-English, that’s hardly a surprise, but as long as they’re not anti Spanish or Maltese too, we shouldn’t grumble!

Well done Brentford. The third best team in the championship and they deserved to win the playoffs.

74 years since the 1946-47 season actually, I looked that up earlier as I knew they'd been in the top flight before a long time ago, but I couldn't remember how long.

And I believe the record for longest spell out of the top flight for a team promoted to the Prem (obviously not counting teams that had never been there before) is 77 years, for Bradford who returned to the top flight in 1998/99 with us having last played there in 1922. Though Brentford I think hold the record for most seasons taken to return to the top flight, because there were no seasons completed during seven of those 77 years due to WW2, which makes it 70 seasons out of the top flight for Bradford.

If Brentford have definitely been one of the two two best teams in the Championship two years in a row then Frank must be a truly awful manager, since they didn't finish in the top 2 in either of those seasons.

In fairness, their XI can rival ours, but we did have more depth this season, they lost Dasilva and Henry and looked a bit clueless for a long time (mind you, we looked equally as clueless when we lost our equivalent of Henry!)

I wonder what those old fans were feeling when they got relegated, bet they didn't think it'd take so long! (Mind you, parachute payments weren't a thing in the 40s!)

It’s a better away day to Brentford than the ball ache drive to Swansea. Who knows how well they do next season, but we just need to beat a minimum 17th best team next season.

It makes it slightly harder for us next season, but oh well, we can't be scared of Brentford lol. I look forward to the away trip, never been to Brentford full stop, let alone their new stadium

Well done Brentford, I think on balance the best teams went up. If Bournemouth spent more time playing football they would have been good enough but alas they spent half the season lying on the floor.

It should be quite competitive around the bottom half of the prem next season. Looking forward to it.

I hope you are right, if we play like we did at Norwich next season we will be fine, play like we did the previous game and we won’t!

More that the stadium has hardly any fans visit due to Covid.

Lots of competition for fans around here in that area

Both my kids are thoroughly Watford though.:)

Brentford are going to be the 'surprise package' that finish top half. It is inevitable.

We'll be down by Christmas as things stand.

Toney will be a handful, should have scored at least 2 in the first half at the Vic, and even when playing up top with very little support after the red card, gave Kabasele and WTE kittens. Should get double figures and will trouble defenders and take the pressure off the rest of their team

Blackpool back in the Championship after six years, pretty quick turnaround considering the shambles they were in, plummeting to League 2.

They'd have to do some miraculous work in the transfer market to achieve that, otherwise surely given they finished four points behind us they'd stand an even smaller chance of staying up than you claim we do?
