Is this the same award as Vydra got in 2012-13?

Not sure - was that PFA related?

It is bizarre. We had the joint best defensive record in Championship history. The best home record in Europe, yet not one of our players is recognised.

I’ve often thought there is an anti-Watford bias in the game, and this is just another manifestation of it.

Based on the comments that team is based on individual stats and minutes played come into it, players like FS didn’t play the whole season so I guess that’s why.

That said if you’re picking a team of the season you shouldn’t just be relying on stats, because ultimately the most important stat is how many points a team have and who got promoted. To have a team who finished on 91 points who don’t apparently have any players in the top 11 of the division means it’s clearly a flawed method, and the people picking these teams should have the intelligence to realise that.

I am not sure but heard in the past the PFA dish out the "voting slips" quite early on in the season which is why Sierralta might not get in but then you'd think it would be a simple electronic voting system now so you can do it even at the back end of the season and collect the results.

I noticed Danjuma didn't get in for example who was excellent from about February but Armstrong did whose goals dried up a bit after Christmas.

Anyway we got the important stat - enough points to get promoted!

Henry also got in ahead of Masina, now that's fair enough as he is the best LB in the league, but apart from a sub appearance in the playoffs he's not played since Feb! It does seem like the decisions were made early!

At the last count there were several thousand different versions of “team of the season” from countless outlets, each and every one is a complete waste of time and should be ignored. It’s nothing to do with anti Watford, it’s because it’s something that is totally irrelevant but everyone gets hung up about.

Femenia is a great example. We’ve all watched him all season long and he’s been great. But unless you watch the other RB’s in the league all season just as intensely how can you compare? Nobody watches them all in equal amounts so it boils down to modern day hipster fans masturbating like safari park chimps over XG and a bunch of other meaningless stats and then arguing about them on Twitter.

We finished as well deserved runners up and went up automatically, that’s really all that matters.

We didn’t even get the ridiculous 2nd place trophy this year. Booooo

Tbf the other TOTS had Masina in, fine player, but if I were to pick any of our players to get into a TOTS, he'd probably be about the 4th or 5th person I'd pick!

Still not really aware of what Scott Parker has done to prove himself worthy of any club seeing him as a viable candidate, although that's slightly less true of a team in the Championship looking to get promoted given that he has just about managed to fall over the line of promotion via the playoffs once whilst being in charge of the richest team in the division by an enormous measure.

But even if so, and he did manage it again, what would they do once they get up there?

He's certainly not proven to be a top manager yet, but in fairness, if you are to mention him having a big advantage over the Championship clubs in 2019-20, for balance you could mention the fact he had 3 weeks before the start of pre-season with a woefully inadequate squad for the Premier League

I didn't think much of him at all after the promotion season but I thought for the most part he did a good job this season.

He was thrown under the bus by his recruitment team and only got his actual team a few weeks into the season. He managed to get the defence into eighth best in the league and had them paying pretty decent stuff. Not sure you can blame the head coaches that his strikers couldn't hit a barn door.

He probably gets more praise than he deserves because he is young, handsome and British but I do think he comes out of this season with a decent amount of credit.

Anyone else hoping the EFL reinstate Wycombe to the Championship. Or do we think it would set a bad precedent to relegate Derby in this close season?

Possibly. It would be very funny though, and also I quite like plucky little Wycombe.

A shambles, if I were a Wycombe fan I'd probably rather just be in League 1 as opposed to not knowing what division you'll be in until the last moment. While plenty of clubs are living on the edge wry FFP, I can't say I feel for Derby, one of the worst offenders, and honestly you have to be really taking the piss for the EFL to chase after you like that

Someone on here said that Lampard would be a rubbish candidate to take over as England manager because of his record at Chelsea, but he actually did well at Derby in his first managerial job, taking them to the 2018/19 Championship play-off final. Shocking to think that was just two years ago given their latest shambles of a season, even Sheff Wed haven't declined that quickly.

Interesting that a book about such a small club that came out less than a year ago should attract so many reviews on Amazon. But, while it was an impressive achievement at a club that previously hadn't come anywhere near promotion to the second tier, were a yo yo club between Leagues 1 and 2 when Ainsworth took over and nearly went out of the league shortly after he did, I wonder how this compares in magnitude to that of Burton, who actually did it over a full season, and stayed up there for two seasons? Wycombe's promotion was based on a purple patch before Xmas and winning what were effectively three cup ties (their run to the FA Cup semis in 2000/01 against much tougher opponents when they had a team probably comparable in quality was far more impressive) after a long break. Their form was poor after their first 20 games and there's no guarantee they'd have even reached the play-offs had it not been for COVID.

Derby are either going to get relegated through EFL guidelines or start with a points deduction next season. Either way, they are so far from the side who once had the likes of
Paulo Wanchop (sp)? and were consistent mid-table Premiership finishers. Not quite Sunderland yet, but getting there slowly. I do feel for their fans' and some of them seem pretty decent.
I remember when we got slapped 5-1 at their place and leaving the ground a few of them were quite mellow with the Watford fans. Big club, big history and with a ghost takeover that will either
rocket them back to the golden years or sink them into League One.

Heard something today (it's via the group I work for so can't really share details) but Derby are very very ****ed financially. There'll be a fire sale of players soon imo.

Anyone else breathe a sigh of relief when the championship fixtures were announced?

Seeing all those teams and I seriously thought to myself, thank goodness we aren't in that league anymore.

Put it this way, there'll be another club (not us) that has first dibs on any of the players before they go on general sale!

Most of the posters on here said they hate the Premier league and would much prefer we were a championship side I seem to remember.

Whilst I don’t disagree, flicking through the sky channels the other day I stumbled across that play off final and I was surprised at how good a side Derby actually had under him. Ashley Cole, Mason Mount, Harry Wilson, Tomori who now plays for Milan, Bogle who got a premier league move:

Arsenal (for Bielik)? Just a guess, I've no idea. I know they owe HMRC shed-loads, plus quite a lot to former manager Cocu
