    Well done to Cam Norrie.

Wins the Delray Beach Open in straight sets over Reilly Opelka.

Carlos Alcaraz wins in Rio - a star of the future particularly on clay?

Tsitsi still looking very off but manages to squeak past Djere in two tbs.
Zverev disqualified in Acapulco for smashing the umpire's chair after losing a champ T in the doubles.
    Murray playing Sinner now.

Djokovic has lost his World Number one status after losing to Jiri Vesely in Dubai.

    Daniil Medvedev takes over.

Vesely, the man who looks like a werewolf!

I must say I was surprised at that loss but shows how competitive it is, Vesely has hardly won a match for two years that I can recall but can beat possibly the best player of all time.

Cam Norrie into another final after a straight sets win over Tsitsipas.

    Impressive performance.

Will face Rafa in the final who beat the new number one - also in 2 sets.

I have to give Norrie credit for making the absolute best of himself as a player.

His game is hideous but he is squeezing everything out of it.

    Tsitsi continues to disappoint.

Hopefully Thomas E can raise his level again.

    Rafa looking strong.

HH into Dubai final to play Shapo.

Hoddesdon Over 40s retain their Hertfordshire title.

Some consolation for losing the national event to Taunton.

Beautiful day to play at the lovely Orchard club in WGC against a charming team containing an architect who designed their pretty little clubhouse.

I was sporting my one yellow and one blue sock look which I shall continue with until it is no longer required.

Svitolina plays in yellow and blue in Monterey and will donate prize money to the war effort.
She had called out the ITF to make the Russian and Belarusian players stateless and eventually they have complied.

Russia and Belarus are expelled from Davis Cup,Fed Cup and all other team events.

Wonder if tennis will come under even more pressure to ban Russian players from playing like other sports and events have?

I can definitely see the argument made by some that that they are individuals who happen to be Russian rather than competing as a team for Russia like in football.

Is there a difference and so should be some leeway?

    Good question.
I can see the US and French taking the stance of IPC and not allowing players to compete but I expect it depends on how the war escalates or pans out.
The next big event is Indian Wells which begins next week so we'll see.

    My word!
Tennis coaches have a bad reputation in many regards but hats off to a Hertfordshire/Essex border coach for sheer putrid, puffed up drivel!

Our nine and under team beat his club today which my colleague hosted.

The opposition loved the fact they played indoors ( funded by our team) and the hospitality they were afforded. Some enquired about joining as they enjoyed themselves so much.

Bless them they could hardly serve underarm properly ( no bounce allowed) or score so Dan helped them along.

The opposition coach then emailed us to say that technically three of our team should not play as they are approaching ten.

Aside from the fact that the children have lost two years due to Covid and all age groups are messed up because of this, they are little children having their first taste of competition in a Hertfordshire league!

The league began last October so all were eligible then. The league will finish by the time three of them are ten and the other girl is under 8 so shouldn't play as she's too young!

Give me strength from such perspicacity!

No wonder children don't play sport with such half wits spouting off!

This "coach" is a Man U fan so he's probably peed off with today's result.

At least his little players didn't give up like Man U did!

    I despair.

Wonderful of Andy Murray to donate all his prize money this year to Ukrainian children.

    Good for him.

Djokovic offering any support needed to Sergei Starkovsky who has gone to fight was heartwarming too. Not sure how he'll get weapons but I won't think about that side!

Fixed for you. I came across these people many many times when football coaching, they're all exactly the same. I wonder how many kids these idiots put off sports for life?

I always found in footy that kids who were told they were too young nearly always eventually excelled when given the chance. I can't see why tennis wouldn't be similar.

As we've said before tennis and football, because of the wealth are the worst for parents and now regrettably coaches.
    Pitiful lack of perspective.
Golf isn't too far behind I'm told too.

Career win number 700th for Murray !

Can he make it 2 in a row or will the next round be too much ?

Daniel made a hash of two smashes, missing one and shanking the other off the frame.

Murray yet again shows how much he loves competing.

Plays Bublik next so anything could happen!

Cash for Ukraine at any rate.

ER wins in three against the constantly under achieving Caroline Garcia.

Martic is a seriously good player who probably should have had a better career.
If I was ER's coach I would show her Martic's serve, especially the hit point and try to get her to emulate it.
Wonderful biomechanics and probably the difference in the match, free points PM won when serving.

Bublik too good for AM,a wonderful talent on his day.

Good win again for Dart Minimus.

    Zverev out to Tommy Paul.

Fritz turned his ankle in the semi final and Rafa's foot problem will only worsen, hence his non appearance at Miami.

He also had treatment for a pectoral problem in his semi.
