I have to say, it's a weird tactic, either by seer or by wolf that message.

If the wolf and you're gonna pretend the seer died, why not list the previous people named by the messenger that is almost universally agreed to be the seer. This message being believed would depend 100% on us all accepting that Cassetti's Beard was the Tinker. Not only is that unlikely, but to then not view any evil players either, when there were 4 of them to the (most likely) 1 tinker, would be extraordinary bad luck.

Agreed, seeing that CB's viewing made no sense in the first place anyway. Wolf message.

It does seem a little odd to name you. Perhaps the Seer is looking out for you? Like the lookout mast - from our destroyed ship.

The seer would be better placed to view one of the players who are acting suspiciously and being discussed in the threads, surely.

Will wait for next message, but not sure how useful this message is at this point.

Cassetti's beard was shown as good when he was lynched. I'm not a great believer in the old tinker theory, the chances of 1 in 22 or what ever it was

Surely the back up seer is only going from previous messages rather than "I was shocked to see that the previous seer viewed"
Wouldn't they have put something like, I was surprised to see the previous seer view, x, y or z ?

  6. wfcmoog

That wording sounds like a weak attempt to try and swing public opinion on which of the messages has been from the seer over the past 3 days.

5657 could be a clue also. China celebrates the year 5657 as part of their calendar - with the red fire Ox. Pick the two words there "Red Fire" like the campfire? Is this also a very deeply thought out wording that the new seer is a good and not a wolf?

That's a wolf's message, no doubt about it. Moog is a wasted choice for viewing today given there are other players attracting more suspicion. Surely someone such as Tom or Tony would've been a better view? Even Skyla?

I think it's a poor attempt to confuse us further.

Just to reconfirm it has always been the case that when a good player of significance is killed they are written as " VERY GOOD" in all other games Ive played.
I haven't seen a "very good" player death so far.
Dont think Opti would change the rules or break precedent or normal process on this.

Further believe the numbers at the end are a red herring meant to lead us towards some irrelevant discussion about meaning and distract us.

Can only conclude that the first message is the wolf and an inexperienced one at that.

The linguistic style of the post is of interest:
It seems very forced and stunted it could well not be their natural style.
That said there are a lot of "I"s and it seems very egocentric which may point to certain players.

CLARIFICATION - I was asked earlier in the game (day 1) if I would say anymore than if a character was GOOD or EVIL. I said at that time that I would not. You should not draw any inferences from my intervention today but appears a lot of players did not see that message. In that respect all Evil Roles are EVIL only, and all good roles are GOOD only.

A few days ago Opti pointed out roles were assigned at random.
I am going to interpret that as meaning we may be surprised that newer players have significant roles.
He wont want me to interpret that way but I am anyway

Well that puts the cat amongst the bloody pigeons. As if we needed it to be harder.

OK, so Opti's post clarifies about the Very Good part, but still, we then have to accept that the seer chose CB as a view (which was an odd choice) and against all odds, struck the Tinker so early in the game and then, today, after being promoted, the backup seer chose me, out of all the players under suspicion to view.

Not convinced yet. Let's see what message 2 brings.

    5657 in binary is 1011000011001

Could be a list of the 13 (minus Cthulhu at the top seeing as 99% good)

If this is a list from the other 13 it hits a 1 on

    Wfcwarehouse
    Diamond
    Wfcmoog
    Ebhornet
    Me
    Watford talk

Maybe this is a kill list forming?

I'm basing this purely as I know it ain't a wolf list as I'm not a wolf!

So, the lack of 2nd message is a concern.
Why would a wolf mention being the backup seer when it could so easily be debunked?
The longer the day goes without a 2nd message then the more it would appear the Seer is dead and we have no backup. But then the wolf would know they got a seer??????
Or is the wolf so clever they're just not going to post?

No way would opti not have a backup seer with so many players, (IMO).

  20. With A Smile

I can't think of a time that there hasn't been at least one back up seer.

As the game is there is no benefit of the seer no to post or to leave it late. I can understand the wolf not posting, but posting 2nd they would also have the option to name a random villager and see them lynched. That would give them 3 or 4 more killings before the morning comes.

The longer we go without a 2nd message the more I'm moving towards the pirate messages being from wolfie.

  22. Harrow Orn

The longer there isn't a second the message the more I believe that's actually the seer speaking in the first.

A seer wouldn't stay silent and I'd be shocked if there wasn't a backup seer.

    Second Message

    Good afternoon', maties.

Hope ye all had great weekends on th' island and discovered a few o' its hidden treasures, avast.

It looks like me opposite number has blinked first, which be what I were bein' hopin' fer.

Today I have used me periscope t' view wfcwarehouse. The ornery cuss seemed content t' run with th' theory regardin' Otter’s links t' Harrow Orn and AshdonWFC afore in th' game, so I had me suspicions aroun' his game plan.

wfcwarehouse be Good. Sorry t' disappoint ye all, but hopefully th' wolf be attemptin' an elaborate bluff!

On day 1 I viewed Ctulhu. On day 2 Iviewed Harrow Orn, and on day 3 I viewedBurnsy, Arrr.

"I have come t' understand that life givesye a sea, and ye must walk down it, and a bottle of rum, to be sure! It be alreadywritten fer us, Wilson."

OK, so if we continue with our consensus view that the Pirate messages are from the Seer, we have very little to go on.

I have to say Warehouse was a more logical candidate for the seer to view than I was IMO, but him being confirmed good leaves us with:

Either vote for me or Watford Talk on the basis that we've been named by the probable wolf as good, or, take a punt based on suspicious gameplay.

I am inclined to believing that is the seer. Rather than some unconfirmed things about tinkers and back up seers.

  32. wfcmoog

I have to say, the one element of doubt I have, is that if the Alpha Wolf knows that Cthulhu, Harrow, Burnsy and now Warehouse are good, why have they not attacked any of them for kills?

Let's have a show of hands. Who we voting for?

EB, TonyCotonsTache, Tom, Ashdon, WatfordTalk. Me?

Anyone else we should be trying to raise our pitchforks for?

For what it’s worth, my thinking is todays first message was the Wolf and second is the Seer.

Personally, I think the one and only thing we have truly worked out successfully this far is which message comes from which.

My other thinking is that the first message was written by Skyla who I personally think is a Wolf.

I’m a bit perturbed by recent posts that seem to be questioning which messages are coming from which side seeing as we had that pretty much nailed - I ask myself why are individuals now potentially seeking to reverse that. Is it an attempt by potential wolves to undo the one successful thing we’ve managed?

Lol Actually that is a credible theory.

I know its her first game but Skyla.
Youve changed how you have spoken on the day the wolf has also changed.
Youve left clues hidden around about wolves "claw" etc
You have a good knowledge of computing - that binary thing links into that.
Opti has indicated that roles allocated randomly

    Ill get the pitch forks
