So, who would you like to see us sign this summer? Keep suggestions realistic-ish if you can!

    I'll kick things off:

Desperately need a keeper in my opinion:

    Pickford
    Begovic
    Vorm

    Need a left back too:

    Kieran Gibbs
    Jordan Amavi (plleaaaaase)

Loftus Cheek or Chalobah on loan would be quite nice.

Remy could be good if he hasn't lost his pace after injuries this season.

Tom Cairney from Fulham would be nice too.

Don't know much about the European Leagues to know anyone who's not obvious!

One of these please. Desperately require a keeper with British citizenship for the sake of freeing up an extra foreign slot in the squad.

Itwill be our third year since promotion, we shouldn't be loaning anyone in unless there is a "with a view to buy" clause in it, the sole exception would be if we were to loan in someone from Udinese.

    Nnnn First Team

    Niang made perm.

Quality holding MF. We've got Doucs & Clevs who play deep but we need another if Behrami's offski

    Top top top quality striker.

    Leftback

Youngish HG keeper that can push Gomes

  5. BewareOfTheDog

    BewareOfTheDog Academy Graduate

Keeper, preferably Pickford, Bentley or Lafont (which is very unlikely)

Left back, maybe Ryan Sessegnon for the future, Robertson if Hull go down

    Besic to replace Behrami

Heldar Costa if Wolves will sell, Tom Cairney wouldn't be bad

Defrel/ Gomez for a bit of extra pace and agility up top

Lafont would be a great asset to the club but as you said, a very unlikely purchase considering his already increasing reputation as a 'wonderkid' goalkeeper and there is no doubt a lot of interest from other clubs.

I think it is also vital that we look into some center backs as the likes of Kaboul and Britos who are getting older as each season drags and the cracks in their careers are beginning to wear. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Watford go in for players such as Daniele Rugani who seems to have some good experience in Serie A under Juventus but shouldn't cost too much as he indeed quite young and is not their first team player.

That said, I don't want to suggest anyone too 'good' because it seems that Reid's gets easily offended as little ol' Watford are not good enough to sign world class players such as Demarai Grey who is supposedly the next Neymar x100???

Another possible goalkeeper could be Paulo Gazzaniga who is relatively young. That said, he doesn't really have much experience of the Premier League as he is essentially the backup to Forster who doesn't seem to be going anywhere any time soon.

Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot about Nathan Ake. It doesn't seem that Chelsea are ever going to use him and I think he could be a possible replacement for Holebas but it is likely that 'Muff are going to go after him and it's probable he will cost a small fortune ( Around £12 Mil?)

In a perfect world we'd add one quality addition in each area.

A GK with better distribution. A strong CB with better distribution. A LB and a RB. A ball winning midfielder, a winger and an explosive striker.

I think a number on here are underplaying how in demand Pickford will be. Begovic would be a more realistic option. I'd love Meret, but I think Udinese fans would riot.

I've been thinking about PL defenders which we could steal relatively cheaply, who would improve our squad.

We need a CB who is strong, calm, has a bit of pace and is good on the ball. And he should be a leader at the back. Easy to find then... Ranocchia has been immense at Hull - not really sure how they got him in the first place. His relationship with Curtis Davies has been the main reason for their good form. Sahko has been a beast for Palace (despite his awful performance against us last season). Gibson has also shone in a poor Boro team.

As somebody has said above, Robertson would also be a good signing from Hull. Barragan has played well for Boro. Gibbs is a decent shout, if he wants to push on. Fosu-Mensah on loan would give us pace and strength, plus he could also help out in the holding role.

    Oscar calling Squad Player

We need to bring in some younger players who are likely to improve and eventually take over from the likes of Gomes, Holibas, Britos etc. Our squad is generally to old. Players like Pickford, Ake, Mawson and Zach Clough. I would not go for Chalobah as he doesn't seem to have improved since he was here.

  9. Teide1

    Teide1 Squad Player

I don't care who we sign asking as they make the overall squad stronger, I expect there will be 1 or 2 go who are currently first choice and a 2/3 of our backup players. It's never dull with our owners!

  10. Steve Leo Beleck

    Steve Leo Beleck Squad Player

I'm not sure that we need much more than tinkering, providing we can get everyone fit next season. We have cover in most roles but could do with another left back, a HG back up keeper to ease pressure on squad places, and a replacement for Behrami if he leaves.

I did think we urgently needed a ball playing centre back but if Doucoure plays that's less important as he picks the ball up from the centre backs and gets us moving forwards. When he's not there, no-one goes towards the ball when the defence have it so they end up going long a lot.

If you look at our attacking options, we're pretty well stocked when people are fit (and if we keep Niang):

    Target men: Deeney, Okaka
    Powerful speedsters: Success, Niang, Amrabat
    Creative players: Pereyra, Zarate, Berghuis

Could maybe do with a younger target man with a bit more pace as well but don't think the squad needs major work in the attacking areas.

Watched a bit of Harry Maguire after the pundits were raving about him, could be a very useful signing.

You failed. Rugani is touted as both Italy best defender since Maldini, there is no chance they'd sell him unless it were to Real/Barca...

  13. JK HORNET

Niang permanent. Showing flashes of brilliance, but we could have a very good player on our hands if he becomes more consistent

There will be a few good players to pick up from relegated teams this year. I'd rather the bulk of our signings have previous prem experience to lower the risk.

    Swansea: Sigurdson, Cork, Mawson, Fer

    Hull: Maguire, Robertson

    Sunderland: Ndong, Kone, Oviedo, Pickford

    Boro: traore

Other than this maybe some prem fringe players could be possible: Gibbs, Begovic, Ben Davies, Trippier, Jay Rodriguez, Imbula

I think a change of direction is required and I believe this is starting to happen.

We need players with a good attitude, that want to actually play for the club and have a vested interest in it. More placement on home grown players.

Cleverley ticks all the boxes for me, and players like this should be always the number one target on every list.

With this in mind, our ability to sign top HG players is smaller than most in the Premier League, but not impossible.

Defoe and Pickford will leave Sunderland in the summer, for example. Pickford may attract the big boys, but I see no reason why we cannot compete with the teams just below this level.

Niang is a bit up and down, but there's no doubt about it, he's a match winner on his day. I'm sure with the right coaching he could become a big asset, but he's a player you really have to nurture. I've seen enough to think we should take up our option and sign him permanently.

There are some great players listed above that we should go for just chucking in some more that haven't been mentioned and might be worth consideration due to prem exp / potential

    Aaron Lennon
    Danny Ings
Simon Mignolet (ok a bit dodgy)
    Joe Gomez
    Fabien Delph (wages issue ?)
    Iheanacho (Loan)
Phil Jones (injury record is poor and wages)
    Callum Chambers
Lee grant (will be a No.2. next year with Butland back)
    Charlie Austin
    Andre Gerey (expensive, ex-luton)

Then there are some well regarded youngsters available out there that would be worth a punt possibly

    George Cooper - Crewe
    Josh Vela - Bolton
    Zac Clough - Forrest
Leonardo Da Silva Lopes - Peterborough

    Just food for thought

Nathan Ake to play left sided CB (his preferred position) in place of Britos.

    Gylfi Siggurdson Swansea
    Ranoccia Hull
Pickford Sunderland ....before you say all the big boys want him, would they guarantee him the No 1 shirt?
    Josh King Bournemouth

Agreed, there's some great pickings to be had at relegated clubs this year.

Huge fan of Trippier but he seems content as Spurs number 2 right back.

I'd second the Imbula suggestion. Not getting on with Mark Hughes but dominated our midfield twice this season.

    Where do you start ?
We all know we need a new keeper, with Pantilimon and Arkinsakaeas (sp) leaving
A right back as cover for Janmaat
A left back to compete with Holibas
A centre back, maybe two. Definataly another left footed option or one that can play the left CB role
    A defensive MF
we only have 2 recognised CF at the moment. One gets injured then we have no cover on the bench. I think we need at least 2 maybe even 3 if Mazzari does want to go two up top

Pickford's top class. I reckon Liverpool or Everton would, Arsenal too maybe as Cech's a bit past his best now.

Yes I agree. Not sure what has gone wrong there for him,he looked terrific.

    I'd completely forgotten about Lennon.

Pickford would be worth bidding for as he may be too young for Man City or Liverpool as yet.

Not sure about Ake but I'm sure I'd come round,Pinocchio at Hull looks good it's true.

  27. lowerrous

    lowerrous First Team

Honestly, you must be sniffing glue...

As pointed out elsewhere, the issue isn't that Gray is "too good" per se, he's probably at a similar level to Niang, but that he is the best young player of a side with a higher profile than us - they wouldn't sell him and he wouldn't leave unless for a big sum to a top 6 club. It would be like us selling Niang to Swansea.

As for Rugani - he soon will be a first team player for them. I doubt they'd even loan him.

  28. ForzaWatford

I'd take Delph. Will probs be leaving City and could be what we need in.

  29. lowerrous

    lowerrous First Team

GK - as most have said. I don't think Pickford is completely out of our league as yeah he is still young and a bit of a risk to play regularly at a top club, but it's likely he'd still go to a bigger club than us.
LB - definitely, no idea who though.
CB - we definitely could do with an upgrade. Britos has been a liability lately (even ignoring his red card) and all our current CBs are sluggish and poor on the ball. I don't know much about Ranocchia beyond hearing good things - at 29 and Italian he'd fit our profile, but will also then no doubt end up another lame cripple after a few weeks with us.
CM - definitely another tough tackling destroyer. Cleverley and Doucoure are good but fairly slight, Behrami is likely on his way out and Capoue has looked fatigued quite often this season.
Striker - Could do with someone who can lead the line with the pace to run in behind as an alternative option to our two big men. In our third season in the Prem I'd hope by now we could sign a better calibre striker than Deeney and Okaka anyway. Success and Niang both have pace of course, but neither of them could really work as the spearhead of an attack.

I think we can survive elsewhere - at right back we can get by with Janmaat, Cathcart and Dje Dje if he's alive. Kaboul wasn't even that bad there. Wingers and attacking midfielders we're good, so long as Pereyra and/or Zarate recover.

Just five quality signings seems modest and feasible to me.

  30. ForzaWatford

Pickford will go to Everton. They need a keeper and they have lots of money.

Defoe will go back to West Ham (if they stay up).

I actually meant Harry McGuire - oops!

I'd certainly take McGuire and Ranocchia.

To be fair, the best signing you could make from Hull is Marco Silva. His home form since taking over, with the one of the worst squads in the league, is WWWWDWWW. Insanely good.

Think Cech, Sturridge & Antonio are absolutely bonkers suggestions, not sure who some posters on here think we are.

Sakho would be great but think he's comfy at Palace now, they'll likely make it permanent.

    Would LOVE Young back!
