'According to Il Secolo XIX, the forward has already refused a move to Bologna and is now set to do the same with the Hornets although the circumstances of the transfer are somewhat different. The deal would have seen Okaka sign for Udinese, who in turn would have shipped the player out on loan to Watford, as both clubs are owned by the Pozzo family. The story goes on to suggest that the player is holding out for a chance at a bigger club.' Pr1ck.
Today's signings so far. 0 Today's reported rejections so far. 3. (Santon, Zappacosta, Okaka) Today's updates on Stambouli. None
I'm only being tongue in cheek with my daily updates! Players will be joining us over the next couple of weeks and actually, in terms of newbies being intergrated into the dressing room etc, it's probably better they arrive one at a time than five or six together. The thing to remember is, with the exception of the duo at Inter about whom Gino was directed quoted, (twice in the case of Santon), the entire summer has been played out on here so far as a result of Italian websites, Italian journalists, British journalists, Twitter users, tabloid newspapers etc. The recent pattern has been an Italian source claiming we are after a player to be followed by a few days later another source claiming he's not keen. It's important to keep remembering there's a world of difference between rumours of what may be happening and what actually is happening!! I'd guess that probably only 40-50% maximum of the stories we've been busy discussing in here lately have much truth to them. By the end of the month I'm confident the club will have secured at least several of the main or back up targets they're after.
I'd love to know at the end of the summer just how many of the deals we've allegedly been discussing have been total fabrication wouldn't you?
http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/07/09/report-stefano-okaka-rejects-offer-to-join-watford/ put this one to bed?
Apparently Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero "can't wait" to get him out of the club, due to his troublesome antics. Looks like we dodged a bit of a bullet. http://www.football-italia.net/69093/ferrero-cant-wait-okaka-exit
Where does it say anything about his troublesome antics? Can't say I'm too familiar with Samp, or Okaka.
To give you an idea about Ferrero, current Sampdoria's owner: Massimo Cellino compared to him seems like an old-style perfect English gentleman.
http://talksport.com/football/stefano-okaka-snubs-interest-watford-join-anderlecht-ps2m-deal-150728160156 Stefano Okaka believes he made the right choice in joining Anderlecht - despite interest from Watford. The 25-year-old is due to have a medical at the Belgian club on Tuesday after Sampdoria accepted a bid of £2m. Watford had previously been interested in the former Fulham striker, while Bologna had also made enquiries. However, the Italian, who has been capped once for his country, has now revealed he is off to Anderlecht. "I have chosen Anderlecht because I am here to win," Okaka told Het Laatste Nieuws. "I will have the medical and I'll explain the rest after I've signed the contract." Idiot.
We dodged a bullet i think - a non goal scoring centre forward is as much use as a chocolate fireguard
I'm gutted. he scored 4 goals in 34 games for Sampdoria last season - just the kind of goal machine we need to replace Deeney, Vydra and Igloo.
Any striker coming to Watford knows they will have their work cut out getting ahead of TD, especially one worth just £2m (peanuts for a striker and perhaps an indication of his level) I think that's why we are struggling a little to fill the role
WHy is he an idiot if there's more chance to play in the first team at Anderlecht? It makes a change that a player wants to play rather than getting paid more money getting splinters in his arse. There's a host of young British players who could do with that attitude at the big four.
Rather than play in the Premier League? He basically said he was too big for us, then signs for a tin pot Belgian club :naughty:
Vydra replacement Stefano Okaka. Allegedly having medical now. Weren't we linked with him last summer?
Just checked Twitter as that's the most reliable source with no trolls or pretend ITK's and within the last 20mins this has blown up all over Twitter from various people, including an account dedicated to Anderlecht.
Good at scoring goals when there is no-one marking him. I don't think the Belgian League is even at Championship standard but he'd be another big, physical lump to chuck on in place of our other two big, physical lumps. Or maybe go for all three and just pump balls into the box from all angles?
