Interesting - but this doesn’t measure hold-up play, technique and so on. Don’t know whether it’s a strength of Kaba’s but Bayo’s all-round play in build-up is certainly a weakness.

    Thanks.

As I thought. They seem incredibly similar, and Kaba isn't necessarily an improvement on Bayo.

Though it's not on there but Kaba's goal return seems to match his xG, while Bayo's is a bit below his xG, suggesting Kaba is a slightly better finisher. But maybe Bayo gets in to more scoring positions (albeit while playing for a stronger team).

The shooting stats on the radar only show shots taken (xG etc) - not the result of the shots. Kaba took 31 shots registering 5.05 xG but scored 7 goals. Bayo took 30 shots registering 5.56 xG and scored 4 goals so pretty small sample sizes but could definitely make a case for Kaba being a better finisher. Though taking a look back through previous seasons I think they're pretty even in terms of xG to goals

edit: decided to do the maths:

    Kaba: 44.83 xG = 42 goals
    Bayo: 32.97 xG = 29 goals

So both slightly underperformed their xG relative to their career, although Bayos is slightly worse.

Thanks. You'd think these clever charts could show at a glance whether a striker was good at finishing or not, and that higher ratings across the measures would suggest a better player :) !

Tbf these are the defaults offered by SB - I can customise them to show any of the stats that are logged, I might have to delve into that and change some of the templates to show some more relevant stats. For instance I'm not sure Turnovers (How often a player loses the ball via a miscontrol or a failed dribble.) or both pressure stats are particularly needed and could show something different (goals/90 or goal conversion %) instead

Scored more from less xG, doesn’t that mean he’s a better finisher?

Yes it does but see the posts above. It seems crazy that the graphs show he has higher ratings across the board yet he's a worse player and a worse striker ? I always assumed without looking at the detail too closely that a bigger shadow generally meant a better player. Perhaps it's just a clever way to get his fee down :) !

@reids Thanks as always for your data

I posted last night that of Bayo’s 4 goals for us last season, 3 came as a sub.

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but are there charts or data specifically available for Bayo’s appearances off the bench? So we can compare his numbers to his matches when he started?

I'm a huge data fan but just watched back all of Kaba's goals for Cardiff and cannot imagine Bayo even getting close to some of those finishes. Movement incredible but on top of that seems outrageously good in air. Confident he'd score between 15-20 as likely pen taker.

We also have visual confirmation that Bayo couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo

He started so few times I'm not sure there'd be that much data for it?

There's this thing called 'goals', they're kind of important in the game of association football! Snark aside, I knew Kaba scored 8 last season in not too many minutes, but how a strikers actual goals versus expected goals obviously varies from season to season, seems @reids long term data just about backs up my point!

Not a stupid question at all! Sadly it doesn't split radars or stats by starts/subs. However it does split the shot maps by which half the shots were in - he took 11 shots, 1.28 xG and 1 goal in the first half of games and 19 shots, 4.28 xG and 3 goals in the second half of games!

My stats are very very basic but seems to me he had a 1 in 9 chance of scoring when he started and 1 in 5 as a sub, so in other words the longer he was on the pitch, the less likely he was to score!

Started for Midtjylland last night but was subbed at HT. Don’t know if he got injured or just played woeful.

Only if he stayed on the pitch a little longer than everyone else and was a bit sadder with his clapping.

Living in Denmark and watched Kaba today against the team I follow here, Lyngby. He had an absolutely awful game and was replaced in the 67th minute. Offered nothing. Frustratingly Cho showed in 9 minutes at the end of the game why he would have been a brilliant signing.

We're supposedly leading the race to sign him according to Mike McGrath from The Telegraph.

Would love for that to be the case.

I hope this is true, he looks decent and I think Moore may stay at Bournemouth this season, he started and scored for them today.

Obviously I’m only saying this after one match, but what I’m pleased about is our signing of a new number 9 doesn’t seem to be the ‘be all and end all’ situation it appeared back on Friday. Of course we still need one, but we now know we already have some goals in the team. Bayo is off the mark, and hopefully Healey gets a chance tomorrow. So I think we’ve bought ourselves a little bit of time, and this should give any new striker chance to adjust to us too.

Seen it's in Côte d'Ivoire, Bayo has a few caps, maybe he'll be super motivated to make the squad?

Maybe, but looking at it they've got a deep pool of attacking talent to choose from and he's only been capped twice and not involved in the current qualifiers, so he'd have to be going some to force his way in.

Based on what I saw Saturday, he could easily score 15+ for us with the types of chances we're creating. Also fits exactly what VI has asked for, clearly wants a 9 who's played in the Championship before.

Is this the dude that played for Cardiff last season and scored against us when they mullered us at the Vic?

He was a handful. On that viewing I would be happy.

That's unfair. My wheelie bin's had Sarr marked for weeks now. He just can't get past it. Worryingly it beat him in the air twice too.
