I assume we would have the club's permission to discuss personal terms before agreeing a fee right?

 

Thought it was reported last week we had agreed a fee? Either way been excited before by a exotic name and a youtube clip of the player making a defender look a mug..always slightly nervous of bringing a player injured..still the reaction of other fans indicates he is highly thought off.

Him going to Spurs of all clubs would really add insult to injury for Affleck.

 

A summary of all the recent reports in one handy post for anyone new to this exciting rumour:

We have either had a bid accepted or it was dismissed as insultingly low. Or we haven't quite agreed a fee yet. We have already agreed personal terms or he is aware of what they would be and he would agree them if we have an offer accepted (which we may have already or it may have been rejected). If we manage to come to an agreement with both player and club (which we may or may not have already), then Mazzarri may or may not give the signing the thumbs up depending on how Austria went. Oh, and a load of other clubs are really interested but haven't put a bid in yet.

Would appear that we've had a bid provisionally accepted with a proviso that Lille have the chance to drum up interest elsewhere ... presumably they are in financial doodoo and need to reduce their wage bill, especially of any dead weight (Boufal is long term injured).

 

Is that the one where you are supposed to give them a reach around in return, but dont.

I think the fall back if this falls through is an extremely talented AM just been released by Sheff W. Has a great shot on him.

Yes he's injured but from what I can see that's why we are making this move. This would be the most exciting signing we have made and it is very much a case of capitalising on circumstance. If he wasn't injured and Lille not desperate to offload wage bills, we probably wouldn't have a shot at it.

 

Could just be the move is a 'Forward Doumbia' i.e. nothing agreed with anyone, does not happen.

 

Barring any set backs supposed to be back beginning of September, so wouldn't call that "long term injured". Didn't he do his knee in end of May as well, with surgery a few weeks later? If so, 3-4 is an extremely encouraging turn around.

Abdi's lack of pace causes him issues in the PL

 

On normal timescales he'll hardly be kicking balls by September. He should be fit to play before Christmas is what I read somewhere.

 

Fair enough, I guess there is an element of unpredictability and these things never seem to go smoothly - just going by what the player himself said.

Very optimistic IMO, from inactivity a player needs at least 6 weeks just for match fitness. Of course modern medicine and training methods are much better than in my day but still.

 

Good to have Godfather back to draw comparisons between his conditioning in the early 80s pub team to a current day £20 million footballer.

 

In fairness, it's well known that German 4th division players would run rings around our Premier League cloggers.

Says Lille are keen to get rid so they can pursue their own targets; us and Everton are a long way short of the €20m (plus bonuses) Lille are demanding. However they have 3 targets that they are keen on, and not to sign any would leave them light for the start of the season, so hopefully a deal can be done.

I doubt it is the €20 million price tag that we are refusing to pay.

More likely the bonuses which will see the price tag eventually reach nearer the €30 million mark. As well as the percentage of next sale etc.
