  1. Although the Wobby is trying to make a big thing of it, the two stories are not mutually exclusive. WDS have said that the deal is not done because we don't necessarily want to take him on, depending on other circumstances (playing style for sure and possibly the availability of a preferred player) and is presenting a positive view of the situation, whereas the Wobby is presenting the doom laden little Watford couldn't possibly sign a player that Chelsea want line.

There is a lot of comm chatter about this and that, but WDS have not said it is a done deal, but people seem to be implying that they have. The only difference is that WDS is saying it is us holding off, and the Wobby is saying it is them. As a fan, I am happy to accept that my team is in the driving seat, and when it comes down to it, it makes sod all difference, other than that some of us can enjoy the story whilst others get upset about it, whilst having no effect what so ever on the outcome.

They want £20m for an injured player who'll have no preseason and will miss the start of the season!?!? ... if it was Messi or Ronaldo I'd understand but it ain't and neither Chelsea or Arsenal will cough up anywhere near that much.

To me it sounds like Lille are desperate for cash and are trying to drum up a bidding war ... good luck to them but Gino won't be a part of it.

Funny that Kevin was claiming that a deal was agreed and Boufal was a high quality player but have just "liked" a tweet that says

"Some bloke that has a semi bad knee injury for e20m and probably won't be properly match fit until nearly Xmas Not bothered me. #watfordfc"

As stated earlier, they/he was referenced in all the other media outlets mention of that story.

Though I'm pretty sure Squawka 'broke' it before them.

Hopefully Gav can clear up this confusion.

I'm actually gonna go out on a limb and back them here, they were insistent on the Iturbe stuff in the face of a lot of conflicting reports

If this really is on then the denial/rebuttal stinks of desperation ... [selling] club, agent or player, take your pick.

  17. I don't get it. I really haven't got a clue what you are trying to say here. I think you have either missed the point of journalism and taken WDS's reporting as their own sworn testimony, by which they may hang themselves, or possibly you are trying to highlight where other people are mistakenly implying so. I just can't tell.

Can it possibly be that they are simply reporting what they have been told by trusted sources who have been pretty accurate in the past? And if that is what you are saying, couldn't you just say so?

Affleck and coldrake are mates that's probably why he liked that tweet and it just increases the attention round the article by liking tweets on the subject.

People need to trust WdSport Affleck has definite reliable sources in the club which far out weigh the Wobby.

It's barely worth reading the wobbly these days. They are so far off the pace, a good 24-48 hrs.

What is 'the pace' though? A breathless rush to report every rumour and comment on every fart from the training ground? The WO are often quicker at reporting stuff just before or at the time of official confirmation than WD. It just depends what you value - both seem to have a place to me.

UAE. They are caught between a rock and a hard place. Boufal for example. They reported the rumour days after it broke and was already old news. They just seem to document what has already happened and occasionally report a rumour days after it broke. Can't remember The last time I learned anything new by reading the wobbly site.

Well personally, speaking as somebody with a background in media/journalism, I think we are lucky to have WD Sports. It's an excellent rolling-news service, and I know how I missed it when it was offline.

They were the first site to break the news that QSF was leaving, that Success was joining us, and several other 'scoops'.

Kevin obviously has good contacts at the club, but it's also worth remembering that it is what it is, a non-WFC official site that reports what it's given by its sources but occasionally these stories don't come to fruition.

On the Boufal subject, we're not in League One anymore. Our transfer targets aren't free signings, or players released by other clubs desperate for a contact. They're not easy deals that can be done at the drop of a hat. Transfers at this exalted level are bound to be protracted, complicated, drawn-out affairs. Patience is needed by everybody on this one. The player is injured anyway, so it's not as if we need a decision soon so he can turn out at QPR or whatever.

I'd love this to happen based purely on the fact that the Spuds fan next door is crowing about how Watford are interested but Spuds are going to hijack the deal last minute.... and obviously he will want to go there because they are a bigger club....yadda yadda yadda.
