This may just be player investment and nothing to do with strengthening our team. No way would they pay that sum of cash with the risk hanging over a U.K. Work permit unless that permit didn't really matter to them.

My very limited understanding is that there is no work permit issue for players who cost more than £10m?

£10,000,001 then including a £7m part exchanged Holebas who doesn't realise yet that he's been sold or that his family is "missing".

Well we were wondering where our striker rumours/deals were... Well hear it "ducking" well is! Seems to be confirmed and I am very pleased that he has taken the route of (hopefully) first team football at Watford rather than being at Chelsea but loaned out every season.

Genuinely know nothing about him, so hoping we've done our homework and he'll be a hit.

What do people reckon - that's it as far as new strikers are concerned, or do you think one more will be incoming?

Edit - assuming of course this is true.

I reckon we'll go for another striker for around the same price and either offload Sinclair (on loan/permanently) or Okaka (permanently)

Except pretty sure it says on some reports he's happy to come to us because we intend to play him rather than loan him out...I think anyway.

Apparently his last game was played at the Maracana. He's gonna have the shock of his life when he's unveiled at the Vic on Saturday in front of about 4,000 fans.

  16. I'm sure adding a few noughts on his wage packet will make up for the reduced stadium capacity

No, nothing like that. I'd be very surprised if he got a work permit to play for us. He's a great investment for the club though, whether he plays for us or not.

  19. Kenedy joined Chelsea from Fluminese, no issues with a work permit

He'll just go to udinese as their non Eu signing should we not be able to get a wp

Uuuurrgh - here it "ducking" well isn't, he's a winger. He basically looks like a Niang replacement (should he get a work permit).

"Fluminense will be entitled to 10% of a future sale. The club only had 50% of the player’s rights, and that’s why their fans think the starlet is leaving for very little."

Sounds like he is choosing us because he will be playing in the premier league and other teams could only offer a loan out. If this is the case I'm sure gino has done his homework and he qualifies for a work permit. On the other hand, maybe it was agreed he will play for us after a spell with Udinese and gain a work permit over time???

Knowing the Pozzos they had probably already bought the first 50% for a few pesetas or something via some South American company a year ago. They know how to do business - Italian style!

What have the Wobby got right recently? This article is the biggest most annoying tease of all time. Don't throw cold water on our dreams! Have alot more trust in the Brazilian media. It's not like the newspaper is based in the town, when Watford was 'print town' with Oliver Phillips and other local journalists. They now Just recycle and syndicate other sources for stories. The Herts Mercury seems to have led on more scoups recently on WFC. They know nothing...we hope! COYHS

I don't know if someone else might have suggested this as I have only just seen this thread, but if this guy is as good as is being suggested and a work permit is not forthcoming.

Maybe we could do some sort of swap loan deal with Udinese for one of their top strikers, until he becomes eligible for a work permit over here!

This is a bit Janet and John - but it explains the WP issue well

Reevaldo is a made up example but it fits this situation well

So- clearly e fails the automatic as he is not a full international let alone played 30% of senior games

He will score well over 4 on the objective criteria - so moves to the next stage and playing regularly for a top team in Brazil - he will get through i am sure - this is where Pernaranda fails

So - i suspect we will see him in Yellow fairly soon
