The Brazilian name excites me and makes me think he’s going to bang 20 goals a season until PSG come calling with £100m bid but the realistic side of me says we won’t see him play for 6 months apart from a league cup cameo where us Watford fans can write him off as a waste of money until he’s cast off to a second division side somewhere in Europe.

Never heard of him but promising if big clubs have looked at him and I’ll assume he’ll be tearing the league up once he’s settled in to life at the Grove.

Typical lack of ambition from the Pozzo’s though, I hear that Neymar chap is available, why aren’t we in for him instead of this random 2nd rate tinpot value Brazilian!?

Richarlison is leaving Fluminense. His fate, however, will not be Ajax, Manchester United, Rome or other major European clubs as he came to speculate. The striker, according to NETFLU, will be sold to Watford, England.

The parties have already been successful, missing only a few details. The deal was to be sacramentalized on Monday, but over the weekend the talks stopped because of the death of Abel Braga's son.

In this way, the sale of Richarlison to Watford can wait a little longer and be made official by the end of this week.

Fluminense owns 50% of Richarlison's economic rights. Business values were not revealed.

 

This is all quite exciting in a vaguely "I have no idea what's happening here" kind of way. I'm not generally the kind for jumping up screeching NEVER EARD OF IM, but in this case I have genuinely never heard of him before this morning, which seems a little surprising in hindsight. I guess he represents the trend of the previous season's must have new accessory: the season before last Kante appeared, so then everyone went out looking for their own version of Kante, now last season Gabriel Jesus took to the prem like a duck to water, so we're all on the hunt for very young Brazilian attacking prodigies who can adapt in 30 seconds.

 

+1 for the never heard of him camp. Although being an U20 Brazilian he stands a better chance of getting a permit than Penaranda so at least there's that!

 

If he can get a shot on target with more power than a 9 year old girl and isn't injured or overweight, it'll probably make him the best striker we have at the club.

 

I saw him as a new winger coming in. He doesn't strike me a lone striker kind of player.

 

He is my new favourite player.

He will remain my favourite player until he signs at the last minute for AFC Bournemouth.

At this point I will begin biting the carpet,froth at the mouth and hop into the corner of the living room and die!

 

If he can cross a ball it'll probably make him the best winger we have at the club.

 

I think all that has to be done to get him a work permit is overpay for him.

People used to claim that Brazilians found it challenging to adapt to English football. The truth was that the clubs used to buy players and expect them to get on with it.

Man City learnt this lesson the hard way after buying Robinho. Since then, they and plenty of other teams have completely rehauled the way they deal with expensive new signings from very different cultures. They sort out houses, have a single point of call for all times of the day, get them driving licences and even sort out their weekly shopping. Now suddenly, really talented footballers on pitches in Brazil appear to be really talented on pitches in England. Funny, that. You wouldn't buy a 30m classic Ferarri and then leave it in an alley in Luton, so why would you just buy and ignore the needs of a 30m footballer?

Of course the Pozzos were probably doing this years ago. I expect him to fit in rather quickly, and be the best Brazilian at our club since Douglas Rinaldi.

 

Clearly has potential, but I could so easily see him being another Penaranda/Success who will either A. never player for us or B. struggle to adapt and actually provide the quality we need.

Could well be and hope I am wrong, but I do hope we see a Ghezzal/Carillo type come in who has a little bit more of a proven record at a higher level.

 

If you've watched him for a whole season, as I have, you'd know that Boro would take a punt on him so we should be like them.
