That's why I'm going on the basis of the evidence given by Professor Peter Wade and Dr James Scorer to the enquiry...

Even if we are to assume that Suarez only used the word 'negro' and it was meant in a friendly way (despite all evidence proving otherwise) are we expected to believe that despite playing in Holland and England for six years he does not realise that the term is not acceptable in most places in the world, particularly in Europe?

And if he was arguing with Evra why would be use affectionate terms when addressing him? Remember that this is the same little angel who also cheats continents out of World Cups, frequently dives and bites opposition players. The guy is a racist and a cheat. Liverpool would argue his innocence even if he himself pleaded guilty to all charges at the FA hearing, as is their nature.

You really need to at least read a summary of the report Don

Even Dirk Kuyt said that Suarez told him he had said "I kicked you because you are black" and "I dont talk to blacks" to Evra, there is no way in hell those comments could be excused by cultural differences

one mans word against the other based on probability

    Probability
    322. A third test for assessing the credibility of a witness, and the reliability of his evidence, is
probability. This involves asking which of two divergent accounts is probably correct.
Motive is one aspect of probability. It may be helpful to ask: if Mr Suarez's account is
correct, why did Mr Evra make the allegations and pursue them through to this hearing?
How probable is it that he would do that? It may also be helpful to ask: if Mr Evra's 82
account is correct, why did Mr Suarez act in the way Mr Evra said he did? How probable
is that? We shall consider these questions in turn.
If Mr Suarez is correct, what is Mr Evra's motivation?

As funny and relieving as it is to see the justice mongerers finally back down over something and admitting that they were wrong after being so aggressively supportive of rat boy I think an apology needs to be issued to Evra after they basically came out and called him a liar despite obviously having no knowledge whatsoever of the case or the evidence.

Admitting they are wrong? I must have missed that bit

Disgraceful statement which comes very close to condoning racism

    Joke of a football club

I just read the full statement on Liverpool's official website and it has to be said that Liverpool's actions throughout this whole case have been nothing short of disgusting.

It's not as if they haven't got form for this sort of thing either.

Liverpool FC have always been a rather distasteful club but they are fast becoming an embarrassment to themselves and English football.

I'v heard that it was foul and abusive language, but not racism. Who knows? Remember that the media will jump on any possibility of racism now, especially at Liverpool and Chelsea. The mirror are hardly a reliable rag now are they?

Eye witnesses saw two fans wearing Luis Suarez t-shirts, and heard one of them clearly shout "You f***ing black b***ard".

There are other versions of this story, neither of them make good reading admittedly, but i'm just making the point that the press will always go for the sensationalist headline, no matter how true it is. Apparently there are other 'eye-witness' accounts which reckon that the fans were ejected for throwing coins and other 'eye-witness' accounts that reckon they were calling him "You f***ing Manc b***ard". Either way they were rightly kicked out.

didnt actually realise the fans started chanting the suarez song after the initial incident with a couple of fans. like it or not that is only going to be interpreted in one way after what has happened so far this season.

like I said earlier, please elaborate........ every club has its element of moronic support, these two idiots highlight that fact, after recent events theres only one way this incident is going to be perceived, and whilst whatever insult has been shouted is lamentable, there is some doubt as to whether the abuse was of a racist nature. Apparently lots of supporters pointed out the culprits straight away to stewards but there are conflicting reports as to what they shouted, some say black b***** others say manc b****** but whatever it was, to tar the whole club, its supporters and manager as detestable is just ridiculous.

I don't think Liverpool has a monopoly on racist fans, nor that the problem is limited to football supporters, though naturally many of us tend to see things in terms of football support. Liverpool is unlucky to be in the spotlight now, and every other team is lucky they aren't.

EDIT: I take that back. Liverpool was unlucky to be in it because of the racist comments of Suarez, but they should really be regretting not taking stronger action on it afterwards.

You can't control what a racist will say, but the team had every bit of control over the actions taken afterwards and let the opportunity to 'do the right thing' slip away.

Tbh it is the timing of the incident and the profile of the club that has caused this incident to be highlighted. Anyone who believes that all or even the majority of Liverpool supporters are racist or condone racism needs a reality check tbh. I doubt that they are any worse than most other sets of fans in general.

Sorry Roady but you have this wrong about LFC. I have always liked Liverpool but their handling of this has been appalling and the current management has besmirched the good name that has been established over many decades.

The fact that the club has not firmly condemned racism without condition is disgraceful, the fact that they will not accept the FA's decision without having to have the last word is pathetic. Dalgleish is blinkered and the players are being used as pawns to support Suarez. Last night's events are a red herring because as you say every club has morons - do you honestly believe that what your club has said and is doing is right? I was at football today with two lifelong Liverpool supporters and real scousers and they would not defend the club's actions.

I'm a life long Liverpool supporter and have been a ST holder for 24 seasons, I can honestly say that if Suarez had spoken in a racially abuse way he would have been shown the door. There is a lot about that case that still isnt in the public domain. Even Evra himself has stated and I quote, 'I do NOT believe Louis Suarez is a racist'. He has acted either naively or ignorantly by shouting the word negro (which apparently is commonly used in Urugauyian culture) to get Evras attention, which has been verified by linguistic experts. This is why the club has defended him, because they genuinely believe he said it in a non derogatory manner and that he is definately no racist. Otherwise I can guarantee you he would have been shown the door. There is also other aspects to this case still ongoing.....it has emerged after investigations by a journalist for the Telegraph, that Evra was given access to the video evidence three times before the disciplinary hearing, something which Suarez was not, so he had to rely on memory alone whilst Evra had time to 'prepare' his case, no wonder Suarez's evidence was labelled as unreliable compared to Evras, especially when in the past the FA have described Evra as an unreliable and exaggerated witness in other cases. (their words not mine).

Would have this racism problem kicked off if Suarez had called Evra a French...... rather than a black......?

Clearly not, especially as Evra insulted him in a similar way and nobody seems to bat an eyelid! I would be a much less skeptical if it were any one but Evra making the accusations.

But it is the same thing if people want to take racism seriously. What is the difference between skin colour and the country you are from?

It appears that racism based on country has almost become institutionalised.

Is that Evra wearing the shirt?

I don't see what the relevance is when it has already been stated in the FA report that the word is not necessarily deemed offensive in parts of South America including Uruguay. However, seeing that Suarez wasn't telling Evra that he loved him (in the same way he uses the word when he's talking to his missus) and instead answered "Because you're black", that was what brought the complaint.
