Its seems that no one can have a debate about this without the PC Police getting involved and being called a dreaded "Racist". Although I cant stand Blatter I think he has a point here? In our society we have thousands of people losing jobs everyday, the Euro Crises, the best Soldiers in the world coming back in body bags for a pointless war and some people that earn £50,000 a week are worried a bit of name calling.

Can you imagine John Fashanu moaning over a bit of name calling during a game?

Why is it that Football is more than welcome to welcome back people into to football that beat up women, (Marlon King Stan Collymore),Drink Driver Murderers and drug cheats. But a genuine football man, that did a lot for black players, Big fat Ron, one slip of the tongue and will no one will touch him?

Why is it ok for Roy Keane to boast about calling the Ireland Manager "a English C**t" but if someone had caledl Keane a "Irish C**t" they would never work in football again? Seems one rule for one and one rule for another?

I know I will get slated for dare to bring up the subject but does anyone else think it is PC gone mad?

No. It's learned behaviour and needs to be challenged whenever it occurs.

What do you imagine Justin Fashanu thought about the name-calling?

He would have put the ball in the net and that would have shut the player up or given him a little kick or elbow!

Blatter's comments were ill-advised and harmful to the way that racism is treated in football but let's face it; people are just using it as an excuse to try and get him out.

I'm completely fine with that by the way.

At least TVOR will be glad to know he's not alone in not getting it. :dismay:

It's not PC gone mad. Even though I hate that phrase <---

It's just racist. We've gone over this in that other thread.

While its true that the reaction to Blatter's comments has been OTT.. i to cant see how its related to 'the PC brigade'
The loudest discerning voices have come from across the football world.. well in fact the English football world to be accurate. In other parts of the world they have been pretty non plussed on the subject.

It seems that in England there is a ground swell of people who want to see the 'cheese eating, cuckoo clock making, racist SWISS **** (yes.. i am being ironic!) out of his position as head of the worldwide game.

This is partly due to the perceived bias of fifa against English football and party because.. well... he isnt very good at it!

Luiz Suarez has been found guilty of racially abusing Patrice Evra. £40,000 fine and an 8 game ban.

Liverpool will appeal but if the FA really want to make their point that this isn't acceptable then the ban should stick.

Wonder if the FA will show some consistency this time, especially as it seems (i may be wrong) that there was no real evidence of the Suarez incident. John Terry on the other hand......

So Liverpool are defending a player who has admitted using the word 'negro' in the direction of a black opponent during a heated argument and are blaming the FA for banning him for doing so? Typical pathetic, blinded victim complex on show from the Scousers. He's lucky he didn't get a larger fine and ban.

Suarez and Evra's faces here tell you all you need to know about how the nature of the comments:

Of course Mr Suarez, calling someone 'little black' in Spanish is a friendly term, especially in an argument. Has Gus Poyet had any more words of wisdom on this?

Terry news will be out later on or early tomorrow, once the police have announced their progress (I doubt any action), he can be charged as well.

I know many on here don't see this viewpoint, but how the hell can somebody be found guilty of something when there is absolutely no evidence? It is one mans word against another. Nothing more, nothing less.
It is akin to somebody being prosecuted in court without evidence. It just doesn't make sense.

People can say what they like about Liverpool playing the victim card etc; but to be fair to them, they have made several very valid points in their statement. It seems like the FA have made Suarez a scapegoat for their anti-racism campaign.

He's admitted to saying it though? He says he did not mean it as an insult, but if you are having an argument with someone and say something strong like that, sorry but I can not see how it is not 'meant' in the way it comes out.

It might be learned behaviour but it is still wrong to use terminology like that. It is not as though Suarez doesn't have history in contempt towards fellow pros having bitten another player whilst at Ajaz

Do you know anything about Uruguayan culture, or modern day South American culture at that? Judging by your post, I would assume not. I don't know about Uruguay, but in Argentina, racism is lot less taboo over there than it is here. I'm not defending what Suarez said, but he is coming from one culture to a completely different one, where saying anything whilst noting one's colour will get you much more than just a slap on the wrist.

Yes I do to a degree, travelled in Brazil for 6 months. So what if is is less 'taboo' doesn't make it wrong. The bloke has lived in the Netherlands for Christ sake, I think he knows a multi-cultured Western European society and what is right and wrong to say.

If I went and lived in another culture like Saudi Arabia for example I would know what is the cultural 'norm so to say and what not and I can do.

Surely Evra is also in the wrong for insulting Suarez in a racial way though? Supposedly Suarez's comments were only a reaction to Evra saying "don't touch me South American" or whatever it was.

  25. Timbers

    Timbers Apeman

If he found 'South American' derogatory, perhaps Suarez should have a complaint then? Perhaps, Evra just knows his Geography?

  26. folkestone orn

Yeah but why call him it? Seems unnecessary, as it is still in reference to his race for no reason. Much like what Suarez has said, no?

South America is a continent, what if Suarez had called him an African? Then Suarez would still have been charged would he not?

Liverpool make some good points in that they'd like to know how he was found guilty, as they are only going by Evra's word.

And camera footage from several different angles.

Suarez has admitted using certain words to Evra so that's it anyway; case closed.

You don't want to see it. It's a picture of Suarez mid way through conversation. So basically his mouth is open.... It apparently shows him saying the N word, yet no one knows what language they were speaking at that time. Apparently Evra insulted Suarez in Spanish... Is the N word different in Spanish?

Oh right, thanks for clearing that up for me. I know it's embarrassing to admit, but I have been forced into doing a complete u-turn. Suarez is definitely racist.

Not sure whose idea it was that the liverpool players wore Suarez t-shirts during the warm up, hardly that much of a victim.

If what Suarez said is racist, then so is what Evra said to Suarez!!! Well IMO it should be , if we are going to stick strictly to the philosophy of the PC BRIGADE!!!

Having said that I still believe MOST of these incidents are blown out of all proportion!!! I won't subject you to my full opinion on this, as a lot of you will remember my previous posts on this subject!!!!

However, what I will re-emphasise is that I am not racist in any way!!! I just believe that the vast majority of, so called, racist comments are taken out of context, and blown up into something they are not intended to be!!!
