OK I don't get the bit in red. £49 million in debt and they can afford to sign a striker. Even if he's free he'll have wages.

I think the scottish league will be more harsh than 10 points for administration.

Did gretna not get docked about 20 or 30?

Just got taken over as well...probably be big enough to come out of it but would be interesting to see what happens to other big football clubs with massive debts if Rangers are the first to go into administration.

Arguably the largest Scottish club. Could be the tip of a rather large iceberg.

The bloke that took them over raised the money by selling future season ticket income (about £20 mill?) to the same people we did. He had no money what so ever to begin with.

At least they could start again somewhere like the Blue Square North.

Most clubs do it, but I just can't understand how they are allowed to buy players worth millions when they are millions in debt themselves. They are a huge club in Scotland though, who is going to challenge Celtic for the league now. Will be a completely pointless league, could this be the start of a merge of the english and scottish divisions?

Were not £49m in debt, that is just that figure spouted regarding the on going tax row.

The Rangers support are split 50/50 on wether chairman is on the rob or being clever by doing this reagarding the tax bill but it is very messy up there at the moment.

But there is a massive debt though yeah? So how can they still sign players for transfer fees and decent wages?

Not questioning you btw, just wondering why a club thinks they can get away with it.

This is good news for us and our chances of relegation.

I don't think there is a massive debt the the moment. I believe Whyte is trying to get the HMRC to do a deal on the bill in the next 10 days before entering administration. Fans are split 50/50 so really no ones knows the full story.

Regarding Cousins, we need strikers, if they do the deal with HMRC then there will be no admin, no 10 points deduction , title to go for still.

    To me that's blatant cheating.

Blatant cheating sounds a bit harsh, this isn't to help Rangers win the league, this is to keep them alive. If the tax bill is £50m then they would go striaght into adminstration anyway.

Hopefully this will see Partick take their rightful place as the best team in Glasgow (sort of).

So buying and paying players they could not afford is not cheating ?

Not paying HMRC, signing and paying players they can't afford and doing a deal with HMRC (who haven't been paid = illegal) to make sure they stay alive in order to still challenge for the title is cheating.

Cheating? Watford have debt, shall we stop buying/loaning players then?

Rangers are in court with HMRC regarding a tax bill from 10 years ago, no one as won the case yet but Rangers are expecting the worse and preparing for the worse. Cousins is on a reported £5k aweek and a free transfer, 8 players left in Jan including Jelevic for £5m. So £5k aweek isn't alot considering the wages saved from Jan.

So 10 years of cheating or mismanagement and only now doing something about it. They have had many years to reduce costs and pay the HMRC so no sympathy.

It would depend if we owe money to the taxman...you guys aren't the only ones trying to find ways to counter the tax system ofcourse but its just bad luck for the fans its Ranger who have been caught out.

Legally we own the HMRC nothing yet.

    Watford pay their tax.

Watford don't pay their players with EBTs to try and avoid paying tax.

HMRC only investigated Rangers 2 years ago.

Oh, all is ok then, just the £10mil a year you spend more than your income to worry about then. If you are sure you owe the HMRC nothing why threaten adim to force a deal then.

  23. nascot

Then why try and force a deal?

Who wouldn't try and do a deal though? If they so no then admin it is.

They don't owe HMRC money but are trying to do a deal with them? Makes sense....

I hearby award Celtic the Scottish Premier League. If Rangers were to go bust, I award it to Celtic for the next 50 years and recommend the suspension of that football competition due to it becoming even more pointless.

If Rangers go bust there is a massive chance that the entire SPL will follow.

Madness that they are still 9 clear. Whats the point in other teams trying? It's a monopoly.
