Just tells me no-one at the club really knows what a good defender is, well definitely not a good CB. They should all be able to tackle and header and booterer it away when necessary; the good ones are able to turn apparent defence into positive attack as well. Oh for Keith Eddy or Ian Bolton or John McClelland.
How the **** can we have an Italian owner that thinks our defence is very good? That Bayat stuff is probably nonsense too, Gino is up to his ******* neck in it I think and the signing of Bayo confirms this for me. Why keep working with that slimeball Gino???
Thanks for the summary HB1. Listened to my first and last Sunday service last Sunday to see what all the hype was about. It was absolutely dreadful, boring, monotone, and repetitive. Actually didn’t finish listen as I had to turn it off after wasting about an hour of my life hoping the next “segment” would be better, it wasn’t. So definitely appreciate this summary so I don’t have to suffer again.
I do not know the truth of this story about the email, but I listened to 'Uncle Ron and Ed's Sunday Service' live and I think that it was mentioned that the club changed their mind about Laird. Some people are critical of Uncle Ron's negativity and it is true that both of them can sometimes drone on a bit too much, but I think that 'Uncle Ron and Ed's Sunday Service' has been excellent because they include many interesting guests (including people who have inside knowledge about the club plus some of the podcasters) on their Twitter Space. The guests will often disagree with them (which provides a balance), but Uncle Ron and Ed have asked some insightful questions relating to the club. It was also Ed who first revealed the news about the injury to Tom Dele-Bashiru and may have thus prompted the club to make an announcement. Andrew French chatted for more than an hour and gave a lot of inside detail about recent developments at the club. He was particularly keen to stress that João Pedro wanted to play on Saturday and has not been pushing for a move (contrary to some reports). Andrew thinks that one of Sarr or João Pedro will probably leave, but not necessarily both of them. He was making fun of Uncle Ron (Rupert), but not in a nasty way and said that he has known him for more than twenty years. Andrew mentioned that he trained under Oliver Phillips so he will not publish a story until he knows that it is a fact (hence he did not report the transfer rumours linking Sarr to Newcastle, West Ham and Crystal Palace), although this means that he is unlikely to be the first to publish an exclusive story.
Rupert? Ah, I think I know him from his postings some time back on the mailing list. If it is him, then the Uncle Ron persona fits perfectly.
Personally I think you have to just take "Uncle Ron" with a pinch of salt and I get the feeling that he enjoys being the pantomime villan a bit and as such plays up to it. That said I do think that both he an Ed carry some very valid points and give them credit that they've actually had the balls to air them so publicly - particularly when on the other side you have other voices who openly try to deride and belittle them and shout them down for even daring to have criticism of the Pozzos. I don't always agree in the way Uncle Ron articulates his point, but I do think that concern about the direction of the club should be able to be discussed freely. Also the next couple of weeks will of transfer window will be very interesting to see if some of his views come to fruition.
Indeed. They are hamming it up but we need a platform that questions the ownership. As Ron gets more popular the opponents become more unpleasant. That Wendover idiot they welcomed and allowed to speak his alternative view for several weeks yet now he is becoming more and more aggressive on Twitter against them.
Thanks for sharing all of that HB1. Was there any mention of what the plan is for this talented freeloader
Nope. The question from UR was “where is Pussetto?” and AF said “I can tell you where he isn’t……..nowhere near Watford” and that was that.
I kind of like him. He says what he believes, I can't see anything wrong with that. The guy who is happy with our defence and said Sema was one of the better players needs looking at though.
https://mobile.twitter.com/UncleRonisback Looks like there will be a Sunday Service this week after all...there'll certainly be a lot to talk about!
I have to say, reading and listening to French is a breath of fresh air in a world where people are far too quick to jump the gun. He may not be the first to break news, although in fairness, I don't think anyone would have known the fee for Kamara was £16m if not for him!
If he really was suspended due to voicing concerns to the fanbase you have to wonder why it happened. Well, we know why, we just have to bite our tongue.
Do you think Watford have the power to ban Twitter accounts, at a moment's notice? When there are thousands upon thousands of accounts spouting racist, sexist, anti-Semitic, islamaphobic, homophobic abuse, would it really be that high on Twitter's to-do list?
It won’t have been the club for sure. One of the pro Pozzo weasels on Twitter will have found a Twitter rule that he has broken and reported him. There are plenty on there with loads of time on their hands that can’t stand him. Twitter will then have banned him as it’s the safest course of action (a bit like when the 1881 threatened legal action against this forum!)
Don’t worry. He’ll be back as Rupert or something along those lines. He never writes anything which I’d expect his account to be suspended for. The only constant is ‘Pozzo Out’ but surely Twitter wouldn’t ban him for posting that?
Only recently found the Uncle Ron account. He:s a bit over the top but it's great to see an account which openly questions the dubious actions of Pozzo/Duxbury
Cracking response to FTRE question what are you most concerned about? “I’d say the fans are our biggest problem. Bunch of whiny little brats…….bugger off and support one of the Monopoly FCs and leave us real fans in peace” Translation: “I want to be free to power clap everything Pozzo does with our club and not be laughed at”.
Fans should delight in relegation and applaud giant killing (if that's applicable) cup defeats. Enthuse over £100m+ debt. What's wrong with you lot. Are you not entertained? However, I will caveat this. The board are victims of their own previous success. They set the bar high and have fallen so far below it you can't even see the bar anymore. This is what fans don't like. Had we had one of our previous useless owners, we'd probably all be in an acceptance that being a sh1te Championship side is our level.
I had to listen to a Watford fan loudly telling talking to another guy on the way back from Birmingham about how awful our fans are, how their expectations are totally out of kilter, why do people travel away if they're just going to shout at players they don't like, what a great job Pozzo's done given where we came from etc etc. Would have guessed both were in their 30s, so it's not like they were old timers with decades of wisdom under their belt either.
Sadly, when it comes to power-clapping monumentally poor decision making, and virtue signaling shows of support, the curse doesn’t discriminate by age.
I'd say it's less to do with the relative success and more the price we paid. Many fans accepted dodgy dealings, players who barely knew where Watford was putting in a few half arsed shifts before moving somewhere random and an ever changing conveyor belt of managers, when it meant top 15 in the country. For it to mean we are just another Champ club with big debts, then many prefer the family club of old.
My perception is that the majority of power clappers (PCs) are younger fans. Many older fans don't relate to the newer iteration of the club, the lack of connection with players, the lack of local communication from the hierarchy. They're taking their thermoses and voting with their feet in many cases.
What's happened with the 1881? They seem to have decided the flags are for certain parts of the ground only nowadays? Shame as they were brilliant getting an atmosphere back in the Vic.
