Sounds like there will be no single captain and the armband will be passed around experienced players. Seems a fair plan as we have several that have been captain of other clubs/nations.

Hopefully it will be someone who has the Watford way ingrained in them like Troy did. Clevs or Fossie for me.

That's fine on the pitch but I think there should always be a clear, fixed club captain who represents the rest of the players to the management, fans and media.

Does 'the Watford way' mean giving away last minute goals, only playing well for a maximum of half of each season and getting needlessly relegated?

It'll be Cathcart as he's going to play every game. First choice right back now as Xisco can't bring himself to give Ngakia a start and Kiko's legs are made from papier-mache.

Unfortunately all our experienced players are a bit ***** so I can understand not making one player captain.

WTE might be a recognised leader but who's going to give him a bollocking when he passes to their midfield for the umpteenth time?

Probably in the minority but I'd give it to Sarr. Some players thrive on the responsibility and I feel he'd be one of them

Still think we need to give it to Sissoko or Kucka

All joking aside Masina would be a decent candidate, unfortunately I wouldn't want him starting the majority of our games though. But he's very vocal, seems well liked and he's always on top of the refs. He's got that streak of gamesmanship as well from his Italian upbringing.

Still can’t forgive him for West Ham away in the relegation season. Don’t want anyone who shirks a game like that anywhere near the captaincy. Plus, when everyone is fit, he shouldn’t be playing.

I think TVOR the club captain remains the same unless they leave the club as the case with Deeney. He is there as a presence and senior figure irrespective of whether they play or not as with Troy.

I think he means bottling it at half time? Didn't he shirk the game at the Kenel last season as well or was that a genuine short term injury?

I made a mistake with that post (hence why I deleted it, too late though!) - Kiko actually gifted the ball to Antonio, Bowen assisted WH’s 2nd. Looks like my question has already been answered anyway, although I can’t think why Masina would do that and I don’t know what the evidence is to suggest he was shirking rather than just hauled off for underperforming or not being fit to play the 2nd half.

I don't think he bottled it, he was just having a **** game like many others and was subbed. Plus Pearson may or may not have lamped him!

It looks like he's going to be playing every game for us so I'm happy for him to have the armband. I have no doubt that he genuinely is honoured to captain us given his family connection to the club.

Imagine picking one of your worst players to be captain.
