I honestly don't believe there is a better young midfielder in the country than Chalobah, and he will go one to become one of the worlds greatest player's of his generation.
Have to say some of the tweets being sent to Chalobah yesterday when it was rumoured Palace wanted him were disgraceful. It really is just an a sign of how the younger generation have been poisoned by social media.. sad times we live in!!
Still a loan possibility for next week. Has he bulked up yet ? Hope he has done some upper body work this summer.
He would be a direct change for Iriney but not the beast perhaps we need alongside to smash the opposition up. He'd be more than welcome though particularly if he has bulked up.
Not so sure about that; I was never hugely impressed with the defensive side of his game (although that's a bit unfair, since he isn't at peak physical prowess yet). He's competent defensively, but I don't think he was capable of doing what Iriney has shown in flashes so far this season. I'm sure that'll change when he bulks up a bit more. The bit about Chalobah that impressed me was his passing range and ability to dictate play, especially for a 17/18 year old. I could see him replacing McGugan; we all know Chalobah has a strike on him, his passing is frequently nothing short of brilliant at this level, and he's better than McGugan defensively. Iriney/Chalobah/Abdi would be a rather tasty midfield three: two capable of scoring great goals, two fantastic passers of the ball, two capable of defending at least competently.
I don't believe he has signed on loan for anyone yet. Also, according to Ladbrokes online (I know, not the most likely of sources), Watford and QPR are front-runners for his signature. If Zola wants him back I really can't see him going to QPR as he knows he will be suited to our style of football and can slot right in, whereas at QPR he isn't guaranteed this. Also, is he guaranteed to starting berth with us, and the same can be said at QPR as this might influence his decision too.
I don't think for an instant he is "guaranteed" starting with us and besides didn't Chelsea already stipulate they want him to go to a team where he has to compete for a place?
http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/3448194/title/squad-lists-announced NC not included in Chelsea's 25 man squad for the Prem. Another stone put down paving the way for him to come back here on loan.
Really? Did not know that (obviously). Still it seems weird that they created a section on that article for their under-21 players and then just named 3.
Looking very likely he ll be coming back now. Unless he wants a guarentee of first team football and GFZ cant give him that meaning he might go to a lesser championship club, but in truth I cant see that happening.
I reckon he will go to QPR to team up with Tom Carrol. Potentially England's midfield in a couple of years time.
QPR are over loaded with quality central midfielders, with Barton, Carrol, Henry, Jenas, all vieing for 2 spots. So I doubt whether Harry would want him. Even if he did it would be a strange move for NC to go to QPR instead of Watford bearing in mind the relationship with GFZ and the style of football we play. Sorry, I have to disagree with you on that one.
Definitely Chalobah would replace Mcgugan, not Iriney. He's a magnificent player when he goes forward and expresses himself and who's to say he can't sit in and play from deep anyway alongside Iriney
Tbf to Ladbrokes the person who wrote the article tipping us for relegation followed by the article tipping us for promotion followed by this article were all written by 3 different people. The last 2 article writers seem much more intelligent than the first

£35,000 a week!!! jeez. I know he's got masses of potential but what's he actually done so far in his career to earn that amount of money apart from play very well at championship level? No wonder we're refusing to pay those wages in full, if we did surely we would be paying him more than double what we're paying any of other players? Of course, this is all assuming that the Mirror has all its' facts 100% correct
Wigan have signed Nick Powell already and I don't believe they'd be willing to pay 100% of the £35,000 p/w
They've got a load of money from the McCarthy deal + all the other deals between them and Everton. Oh and the parachute payments. And probably the Europa League money. And they are run by a man who actually knows what he is doing when it comes to owning a football club. Wigan are in a good position. £35k a week is crazy amounts of money for anyone that age. Hopefully, Chelsea & Chalobah see the footballing advantages of coming back to Watford and not the financials. Wigan have signed Powell for the midfield but who says they aren't looking at him for their defence, where he usually plays. I'd love him back here but I have a feeling cash and European competiton may win this battle.
So Chelsea must have given him a 5yr contract worth 2.1Million. The pursuit to sign against rivals must have been very realistic, no wonder they wanted to loan him to a premiership team, they would be the only one to afford him. For that kind of money we must be crazy. Unless Chelsea contribute then I would rather us loan a player who is more of that value. To be honest surely we have already aided to his development and his value. We should get him discounted.
Think they've already submitted their Europa League squad so he wouldn't be able to play in that. I think we've got a good chance of getting him. He knows the place obviously and I'm sure the Pozzos can sort out some kind of deal.
I wanna think down your line of thought but unfortunately Chelsea (or more specifically Abramovich) doesn't care about loyalty, as proven by the constantly swinging managerial door and in particular his treatment of Roberto Di Matteo. If Wigan are willing to pay his wages in full and we aren't, they'll make sure he goes to Wigan.
This doesn't make sense? Then there will be a chalobah role filled by chalobah at Wigan, but when he leaves we will have to find someone to fill that chalobah role as well???,and ??? Who will fill the chalobah role here, it's just creating more problems.
Basically this mismanagement is causing chalobah roll shaped gaps all over the country. Pretty soon I wo t be able to walk down the high street without falling into a hole the shape of a talented but still untested at the highest level footballer
Surely £35k a week is wrong. I would imagine he is not guaranteed to start at either club. I would have thought if he could have played for Wigan in the Europa league then he would go there but if they've named thir squad and he can't I would think we would be favourites. I would be very surprised if Dave Whelan approves £35k a week. He has has done a fantastic job up there and understands how a football club should work and is not not known for overspending. Fingers crossed he comes here asit would be a fantastic signing
They know he can do a job and they are aiming for immediate return to the PL. With the squad stretched in Europe too they may look for talent they know can perform at maybe a higher price to give the chance of others to rest. I think they have a 55 game minimum season.
Agree with Knight on this . If he could play euro football for Wigan he would go there . Chelsea would be thinking about his long term development more than the wages , and working under GFZ last season transformed him .
