Don't really understand this one, good option to use away from home and filled a couple of positions, plus he's been used quite a bit by Quique already. Said the other day he and his wife had just settled over here! Must have a winger coming in now surely.
I agree, really didn't expect the club to let him go. I hope they've got a few tricks up their sleeves..
Perhaps they don't think he's going to fit the game in England. Some players don't. No shame in that.
http://www.ojogo.pt/Futebol/1a_liga/Porto/interior.aspx?content_id=4753452 The gist of which is: Mexican international Layun , 27, plays for Watford and has versatility as one of the main weapons: he can play at left-back, on the right and in midfield. FC Porto have made a bid to fill the spot left by the transfer of Alex Sandro. The Dragons are trying to conclude a deal for the player that the English club acquired from Granada in January on a loan agreement and have until Tuesday when the English market closes.
Would agree with this one. Only useful for very tough away games in which case Anya can fill one side in the same role better anyway. Good guy, don't think England suits him.
I'm going to take a wild punt and say we are getting something out of it, for example lots of cash. If it's a loan maybe he also comes back better.
Layun has favorited two WFC fans complimentary tweets this morning, one saying it'd be madness to let him go.
I hope it's just an enquiry because he's not been a regular starter. I think Layun is much more suited to the Prem than the championship and he's starting to show more what he's capable of. One great strike v Everton and could easily have been a second with another decent effort. At the very, very worst a more than a decent squad player to fill in during the season. In this formation I think he possibly offers more than Abdi.
I don't think he's ever played much in his natural right-back(or right wing-back) position since he's been here. I would rather we kept him, as back-up for Nyom if nothing else. If he does go does I suppose this means Anya will have to cover for both full-back positions if and when we get injuries there.
I think Layuns **** but QSF is baffling me even more. He's now not only getting rid of players who haven't been playing, but also those who have been . Which means even more waiting time for them to gel together presumably. Odd.
Have to say, I would be disappointed if we let Layun go now. I'm sure i'm in the minority here but now he's started to find his feet in this country he has looked a much improved player so far this season and seem's to have adapted to the new system alot quicker than most of our attacking players. We certainly look alot better when Anya & Layun play as part of the 3 behind Deeney rather then trying to force Abdi,Jurado,Igloo into wide roles they arnt suited to.
I think Layun has done quite well so far this season and I believe he has it in him to become a Premier League player. I'm not sure I believe the reports that say we're looking to sell him, and the amount of game time he's got under Quique only reinforces that point of view. Would be surprised if he went, but stranger things have certainly happened.
Layun offers nothing but versatility (pointless when you already have 2 in each position) and running, which is WAY easier to replace than pace & goals. Especially when we really need more pace, and goals
https://twitter.com/WillyworthWorth/status/638348675538792448 He's doing his medical and signing on loan.
Interesting. I suppose he didn't play a lot there either! Oh well, looks like he's off anyway. I would assume Paredes is staying now to provide full-back cover.
Cant help but feel it would be a mistake to get rid of Layun or Vydra. Unless we are getting a wide player before the window shuts, i would keep Layun
As for Layun, came with a big reputation. Didn't do much, always seemed a million miles behind the game. Always wanted him to get involved but never really did. Shame.
https://twitter.com/NicolasRomay/status/638471115589877760 Closed loan @Miguel_Layun. To the limit. He will play this season with Porto.
Be a good experience for Layun. Be good to have a break from all the Mexicans typing "Layun?" beneath every picture of Watford including one of Doyley.
Him going out on loan isn't strange given his performances since arriving here. Him going out on loan after being so heavily involved in the first team so far this season, with the likes of Abdi sitting on the bench.
