    1. Better than having Mazzari there
    2. I think he would be a good leader.
    3. It would be only for one game, and I think he would get them playing in a way that would create openings and chances.
    4. It might help him to get back some of his confidence that he has so obviously lost under Mazzari.
    5. I am thinking that the players would play for him.
Party time, we have nothing to lose.

I'd rather have Gilmartin than Deeney - and that's a genuine feeling. I actually think 'Reg' reads the game very well.

The quote suggests he slated our CLUB for lacking ambition as opposed to just the TEAM. That's an entirely different thing.

Of course it might have been lost in translation but if he genuinely meant our 'club' then that would mean the whole of our 'club' in its entirety. From Gino downwards. Which would obviously be ridiculous. Why couldn't he just have kept his mouth shut for four days anyway?

So, if I was Gino, I'd call him in again to explain himself. The conversation would be conducted in Italian so nothing would be lost in translation. And, if he did mean our 'club', that would be a personal insult to our owner and I wouldn't be letting him anywhere further near our team as of now. The 'Troy's in charge for the day, let's just go for it and enjoy ourselves' option would be a far better one.

And if he did mean our 'club', and thinks he can then get a bit of polite applause, I'll change my mind and suggest he should get dog's abuse at best instead. Along with the odd half-eaten burger aimed in his direction starting during the warm-up ...

Is anyone actually going to stay after the game? I'll be out of there before the ref is off the pitch.

I'm not sure. Some of our players do deserve our applause, some don't. I wish the crap ones can just go straight down the tunnel along with Mazzarri, so those doing the lap of honour deserve it.

depends on the score. If we win or draw I'll stay till the end to clap holebas, but if we go 2-0 down I'll probably leave then

I'll stay to say bye to Troy and thank some of the players. Can only think of a couple who deserve some applause but still.

Walter doesn't deserve the flak he's got on here overall. Despite key injuries we won back to back extremely key games twice under his tenure. Arsenal 2-1 then Burnley 2-1, followed by Sunderland 1-0 then West Bromwich 2-0.
I will remember him as a bloke who should've picked up the English but nonetheless kept us in the Premiership for another season.
Yes the footy cudve been sexier but it did at Hull to a point and ultimately didn't give them what we got. Premiership survival.

I am with you to a degree in the fact that yes he did achieve what he was asked, pretty or not he got the job done. But to then come out and criticise the club and players ambition is a bit stupid when he still has a game to turn up to.

I don't agree. Any flak he's getting now he's brought on himself. His interview was not intended for an English audience. It was for clubs in Spain and Portugal to explain why HE decided to leave. He spins everything to ensure he comes out unscathed. As I mentioned in another post, he must be incredibly insecure in himself as he's not able to admit he gets things wrong from time to time.

On the touchline during a game, he constantly throws up his arms, and throws his jacket to the ground, when things are not going well. Do you think that's passion? Nope, it's designed to tell everyone around that it's the team not following his instructions. It's the players' fault.

I don't think he deserves great credit in keeping Watford up. He should do this as a bare minimum. We're no longer a club that doesn't belong to the Premier League. We're not the small club that went up under GT (second time) or Boothroyd. The sooner people realise this the better.

He's an average coach at best, but combine that with his inability to learn the easiest second language spoken on the planet (sorry but it is), plus his incredible excuse making, he was always going to fail. Players won't like taking the blame all the time, and fans will not accept being spoken to like idiots.

The only thing I can't get my head around, is why did Gino and the board think this guy was so wonderful. Why did they offer him a 3 year deal and allow him to bring in such a large backroom staff. It was a strange move and one that seemed to depart from well held ideals.

We lost good people such as Austin and Collinge in the process.

I just felt, a bit like when Vialli was hired, the club went a bit "ga ga" over him without any real justification.

I liked most of this, but even if you are Spanish or half-Spanish, the quality of your written English is such that you must have had a lot more opportunity to learn it in situ than Wally has. A British colleague of mine who is quadrilingual in French, German and Swedish and can get by in Italian, Spanish, Danish and Norwegian gave up Czech, reckoning that the Czechs must be the most intelligent people on the planet if they can master that language.

I do not want to get into an endless debate with you on this, so I am just making a one off observation and that's it.

Sorry HB1, but I kind of find that sentence highlighted in bold rather ironic coming from you, pot calling the kettle black springs to mind ;)

However, to be fair I can think of a few others on this forum who fall into that same category!

We have no divine right to be in the Premier League. And despite what people say we are small compared to many.
Don't get me wrong I don't particularly like the bloke and some comments have been puzzling but we survived.
Next year I will be hoping the same I don't dream about top 8 and Europe as some do as I'm well aware how good our players are at this point and how tough it is.

I'm well aware of how I'm perceived on here and I can think of about 50 other posters who would have pounced on this rather obvious put down, but I wouldn't have necessarily expected it from you.

The thing is, I only write on a football forum, where you are supposed to have opinions. To my mind, opinions are never wrong as long as they are your honest thoughts. He is a football head coach, so there is a world of difference between the two.

If he wrote on this forum, (I know suspend reality, go with me here and pretend he can speak English). He would be even more irritating than me, and that's saying something.

I agree we have no divine right and I also agree we are a small club compared to many, but what I don't agree with is our squad is in the bottom three of this league. The quality we have is better than that, so in all reality, to stay up is something we SHOULD achieve, given the tools he's been given to do the job with.

Read it again. You've not understood.

So many are giving Mazzarri credit for keeping us up, but my point is, we shouldn't be in the bottom three with the squad we have, so it's no real achievement to avoid relegation.

This season, with the strange way the league has gone, we should have finished 8th. This squad is well capable of gaining 50 points. A 5 point incremental on last season, should have been the modest improvement this year. We didn't even get close.

Agreed definitely a more entertaining second half of the season. Loved QSF but Mazzari is clueless and had to go. Please let it be Silva or similar young blood. COYHs!

Come on - there is no way we should have been near the bottom this season. There are some pretty poor sides - not only the three who got relegated. How Swansea with their 3 managers and Crystal Palace - and even Leicester given their position in January are now ahead of us is a mystery. Even Bournemouth have a lesser squad than us, Burnley who were appalling away from home. The Pozzos have enough resources to get us players to do well. They clearly got rid of QSF in order to go UP the table not down and Mazz has not achieved that. He deserves to go and in my book is one of their poorer choices. The few good wins need to be set against a few defeats where we were abysmal. Please somebody who supports Mazz try to tell me a few good points he has - and not that he "kept us up". The only reason I would have not sacked him is it would be nice to have a little stability - but he is not the man to build it around.
