Feel sorry for him, let's be honest, he probably will never be good enough for where we supposedly want to be, but it's a damning indictment that we've been forced into playing him
Rabbit in the headlights. Young lad who wants to play well who was surrounded by team mates who offered him no support all game. Talk about being thrown in at the deep end. Didn't play well but cannot blame him in a side who are so mentally weak.
Won the lottery ticket by signing for Watford. Never better than League One at best. He might be young, but then so is Asprilla and Pedro. If you're good enough, you're old enough........he can be 6 years older and will still be rubbish. Grimsby was and still is his level.
Probably would be out on loan if we had enough decent fit central defenders. Looked lost from minute one and is very slow.
I didn’t really notice his lack of pace today but I was only half watching, did alright in the air apart from the terrible gift at the start. Looked very nervous unsurprisingly, look who he was playing alongside. Overall I’d still play him ahead of Kabasele.
Yes he's young but doesn't look good enough to me, not at this level and especially not for a club which allegedly still has Premier league ambitions (though i think we all agree the owner is delusional). Saying that, thrown in at the deep end away at Millwall with makeshift players around him. It was sink or swim and he sunk after 7 minutes
As said already, feel for him, not his fault he's not good enough and has been thrown into the lions den (literally). That blame lays firmly at the door of Gino Spazzo. Persisting with old, injury prone, past it defenders has come back to bite us on the backside. What a great idea to sign another injury prone defender (Hause) to strengthen (lol) the defence.
With 4 CBs missing it’s no surprise that our 6th choice CB isn’t good enough for the champ, esp when most of the 5 before him are barely average at champ level.
Hopefully but for Pollock our 6th choice to be thrown in I assume Cath was effectively unavailable and wasn’t in a position to play, fatigue or other fitness concern.
Why was he named in the squad if he wasn’t good enough? Why did we loan a CB who’d just had major knee surgery? Why did we give Kabasele a stupid contract extension? Why did we bring FS on when he was injured? This isnt bad luck, it’s called your chickens coming home to roost, just like last season when we thought signing Rose and Nkoulou would work out for us. Everything that is happening now is due to awful decision making by the owner and a failure to learn from very recent past mistakes.
Maybe because there wasn't anyone else given he was 6th choice ? We have Gosling playing at RB not because he's "good enough" as a RB.
Because it was just your standard anti-pozzo rhetoric and not relevant to my post. My comment that you responded to was simply stating that Pollock was only selected as the 6th choice CB given the unavailability of 4 CBs ahead of him. I know that you like an argument and want the response to every post anyone makes to be ".....because Pozzo is ****...." but forgive me if I and plenty of others ignore the boilerplate parts of your response and take that as read. We know that's what you think. ps "....Gino disciple rhetoric...." Give your head a wobble.
Not sure why I need to "read the room". Are you saying that on the Mattie Pollock thread the key view about Mattie from the dozen or so posters is that Pozzo is **** and shouldn't have signed Danny Rose ? You just love an argument.
Well you ignored the context of why Pollock was starting which is firmly down to Pozzo decision marking therefore extremely relevant to the thread.
Everything is ultimately down to decisions that Pozzo makes but Pozzo decisions doesn't need to be rolled out as the answer in every post on every thread or every thread will become the same. There are already plenty of Pozzo out / WFc finances / Protest threads without the answer to why Pollock was dropped into the deep needing to be due to Pozzo decisions and Danny Rose ! The reason he played was because 4 CBs were unavailable.
The issue isn’t that our rookie 6th choice CB isn’t good enough in a game here and there, it’s that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices aren’t good enough or fit enough over the course of multiple seasons.
Well the Danny Rose point is highly relevant, because it back fired spectacularly last season, so did Gino learn from that? No, he doubled down and signed a CB who’d just had a major knee operation, and guess what? That backfired too, hence why Pollock had to start.
You're right. The poor signing of Danny Rose is precisely why young Pollock played last night. Let's leave it there.
I’m enjoying the image of TuT as some robed loin clothed zealot. Like that high sparrow chap in Game of Thrones.
Glad to see the "I don't care if we're crap and go back to being a mid table championship team, I just want to see young, British players who actually give a ****" train of thought lasted long
Bit harsh that, Championship level might be too much for him at the moment but he's shown he can be decent at League One level for someone.
