So will Pollock return or maybe we will sell him to Aberdeen where he seems to have been a success?

Hard to know, the Scottish Premiership is generally a lower standard than the Championship, and his style of play may or may not suit the new manager (whoever that may be!), but we're not going to have much money for a rebuild

He is only young and generally but not always centre backs get better with age when their bodies develop fully

Probably similar to a relegation scrap in the Championship, so he will fit right in next season.

Chance of a European tour (probably brief ) for him maybe .
Quite telling their other centre back who has come in and done well since January like Pollock was released by Swindon last year so maybe the level is that much lower .

But least he might have a bit of confidence and positive experience now compared to his nightmares against MK Dons and Millwall .

Just play him alongside a strong quick experienced defender .

Certainly midtable scottish premiership yes, but seeing as Aberdeen are 3rd (last time I checked), then that is closer to challenging for the playoffs or midtable in the champo.

Feels vaguely similar to Wilmot, who doesn't quite have the pace to play in a back 2, but could play very well if we end up with a back 3 next year, especially considering our younger RB prospects are all more on the attacking side.

Stoke fans have been very impressed by him this season until his unfortunate injury. Wishing him all the best as it was a rather nasty one.

Wilmot was still considerably quicker than Pollock, from what we have seen of him, though. I think his physique was as much an issue as anything, whereas Mattie has so far appeared to be in danger of being left for dead by Billy Sharp, which is always a limiting factor, even in a three - especially if they're not the wise old behemoth able to marshal the defence from the centre of it, but rather a callow youth with limited experience, all of which gathered at a lower level.

Watched the highlights of their win over Rangers to see if there were any quality last gasp tackles or blocks from our Mattie. Unfortunately most of Rangers best moments seemed to be coming down his side (getting beaten in the air by a smaller player, getting skinned and outpaced...)

Yes they were lucky really as you probably have to be v Rangers or Celtic .

    Fluke first goal too.

I'll be amazed if he has a career any higher than League one. Celtic and Rangers apart the Scottish Premier is no better than that

Forgot to post about his exploits at the weekend, where he scored but Aberdeen fell to a 2-1 defeat to league rivals Hearts, although they had a more serene ride, beating 10-man St Mirren 3-0 to mathematically secure 3rd place with a game left

Ismael coming in might not do his hopes of breaking through here any good (I'll leave you all to opine on whether he'd have much of a chance regardless!), but to give him and the club some credit, he's had two very successful loans over the last two seasons

Just a shame about his games for us !

I mean probably needs more time but wasn’t a great start .

Agree - we have so many poor loans, that it is only fair to highlight a player that is improving from them.

Heard on the grapevine that Plymouth are interested. No idea whether it's a loan/permanent or whether we're wanting to keep him though.

Without knowing too much about their style of play, a club like that who will probably be near the bottom of the Championship next season seems like a good next step. He struggled in his brief time in the Championship with us, but in a more settled environment where he's getting games regularly, he might do better, a bit of a risk, but he'll need to test the waters at Championship level sooner rather than later

We will loan him to Plymouth and sack Ismael. Ismael and Pollock will then manage and captain Plymouth to a fairytale promotion.

As we settle back into our place as a mid table Championship side, Pollock is the type of player we should probably be giving extended chances to. Can't have done much more in his loan spells, young, homegrown. Give him a chance and hope he can develop the skills he's able to develop. Hopefully that will be enough to make up for his lack of speed.

John Terry was never blessed with pace, an incredibly slow CB, but one of the best CB’s in that era. What he lacked in pace, he made up for with his positional awareness, concentration, tactical wisdom and ability to lead the line. Now I’m not suggesting Pollock is anywhere near Terry’s level, but pace is something that can only be improved slightly. However the positional awareness etc can be taught. With Pollock’s age, if we get it right, he could be a solid option for us.

Unless second tier Inverness pull off an almighty shock in the cup final against Celtic, Aberdeen are guaranteed group stage European football, as much as regular Championship football at somewhere like Plymouth might be attractive, I think I'd rather have Europe if that were me! No idea if we're thinking of selling though, and no idea if Aberdeen would be able to cough up what we'd like for him

Insanely pointless league - they're in third in the table; the best team outside the Gruesome Glesga Twosome, and they haven't had a single shot in this match on the way to a 5-0 loss.

Not to mention that they're in third with 57 points, 35 points behind Rangers in second and 42 points behind Celtic as champions. Ludicrous.

Oh yes - basically a one horse league with Rangers suck in the middle .

They never get far in Europe either .

It’s probably hard to gauge how well he has done but guess it will give Pollock a bit of confidence for now .

Group stage European football could be enjoyable, but it could also be over quickly and then he's still stuck in the SPL. If he wants to develop and progress his career I think he really needs to try and demonstrate if he can perform regularly at Championship level.

Indeed, wants to play next season and is willing to move if not given the chance, cant blame him, needs to be playing on a regular basis to kick on. Seemed to do ok at Aberdeen and seems commited to the club if we commit to him.

If Ismael still isn't willing to risk playing him in the Champ straight away, as Edwards wasn't, then his best chance really will be for him to go on loan to a lower Championship club and see if he can impress enough there until January or the end of the season.
