The man at the Mobil garage says that Panini have reduced the price of all football stickers with pictures of Gibbs in an Aresenal shirt. He says there will be a reprint later this week, probably Thursday.

But to be fair, that is exactly what has happened on this Gibbs thread no? People have largely talked about Gibbs, compared him to Holebas etc and things have gone off on tangents at times but generally when any new updates happen in relation to Gibbs, it has gone back on topic. As with pretty much every transfer thread on here.

And to be fair guys/girls, you'll be happy that you only have to get to Thursday. Then as usual, this transfer section dies until mid-December...and you'll get your wish of people taking things elsewhere.

 

If people want to concentrate solely only talking about Gibbs transfer can they take that to a relevant section of the forum, the one entitled...

Sorry but the Gibbs thread is not the place to start guessing each others ages.

 

You do realise that more people participate in the humour etc that goes on here than moan about it? So whilst I do understand your points, I would say you are in the minority. And I've stated at length that is your right. But until you become a mod on here, and can change it, it's easier to just lighten up and enjoy talking about the club you love and either engage in the humour or ignore it.

My Arsenal supporting apprentice and I have just returned from an emergency call out at a haberdashery near Highbury Corner. The owner was very pleased by our promptness and commented on the apprentice's Arsenal shirt. To show his appreciation he offered to stitch the name of any player across the back. As the lad's surname is Gibbs he chose this. The haberdashery owner said 'my boy, as I am so pleased with your service I will give you this one piece of advice, you should not choose Gibbs, select another player'

Maybe he offered this advice because Gibbs is sh*t but I think it was because he is joining the mighty Hornets.

My view on the difference of opinion /friction in this Gibbs thread is that posters fall into different categories as follows:

1. Those who come here as a source of often insightful information on WFC e.g. the amazing breaking Chlaobah signing
2. Those for whom it is a large part of their social life and/or a place for banter
3. Wind up merchants who get their thrills through the art of twatery
4. Something else I have forgotten
5. A combination of any of the above

I think the difference of opinion in this thread is inevitable and will crop up again and again due to these differing motivations.

For myself, my motivation was initially primarily in category 1 so I do have some sympathy for the frustration expressed by those seeking to discover news and having to syphon through the banter, some of which isn't necessarily scintillating imo. However, I now find myself tediously sitting on the fence somewhere between 1 and 2.

Although I do get occasionally irritated by some posts on here it's not really ever worth getting worked up about and ultimately those persons trying to combat thread drift are never likely to succeed.
