A lot of this is accusations, not proven truths OR we don't have all the facts to make a reasoned decision. However, that's your opinion and of course that is cool. The last few seasons have been absolute disasters on the pitch, no one could argue different, but I still maintain, that with some decent decision making in the recruitment department, like in the first few years, the pozzos can take us forward again.

JP is about to go to Brighton as well,
I never knew if any of them had any intention of staying (Vydra obviously didn't initially which was a big blow, although he came back the season after), but ultimately I was OK with bending the rules in that way as it was a fresh start after Baz, it's not as if the new Pozzo regime had done anything wrong at that stage (with us I mean!), but this does leave me feeling very uneasy given what it implies about our financial situation...

I understand why you would feel uneasy about the financial situation, but if we can sell our more "average" players for 4/5 times what we paid for them, whenever we want, we haven't really got a financial problem in practice!

Look forward to hearing this being spoken about at the fans forum with Gino in attendance, ready and willing to be open and honest.

Which of the points I have made do you think aren’t genuine? Debt, other expenses compared to peers, Bayat being subject of financial crime investigation are matters of fact for starters?

Pozzo being investigated for tax evasion also a fact (unproven agreed). Fraudulent bank letter we were fined £4 million.

How anyone can be comfortable with a person of this nature running our once great club is beyond me.

Do you think that is a sustainable model? That Udinese can continually pay £15 million for dross Bayat signings?

It’s going to take administration for some of our fans to question this dreadful owner.

Of course not, as I have said, the recruitment has got to improve going forward. But for now, it does limit the financial damage and will enable us to be more competitive next season. Surely, a good thing, right?

You have to be a troll, nobody could possibly say something this stupid and not be joking? Where on earth do you think Udinese will be getting this unlimited supply of money from?

Well that is the trouble - deals like this will only attract more interest and investigations from the EFL/FA.

If it was 5-6 million probably wouldn't look so dodgy but double what we paid certainly does.

I mean the bloke hasn't played for 6 months and cannot kick with a right foot.

Is that how much such a player is worth now?

No wonder clubs are a mess!

Debt - isn't the debt almost totally to the pozzos? as long as the debt is serviceable it isn't a huge problem. Obviously I would rather not have debt but the **** ups of the last few years mean we have. But all business's go through good and bad times
Other expenses - well, we don't know what they are so it's hard to judge. If you are referring to things like agent fees which are higher than other clubs, I doubt Gino is giving money away because he feels like it! their must be a perceived benefit somewhere along the line for the club. after all, it's all his money he's lending the club! just to be clear, I HAVE NO LOVE FOR BAYAT, but I can tell you as a matter of fact , nearly all agents sail close to the wind. let's wait until the outcome of the investigation.
Fraudulent bank letter - yep, this was daft! but wasn't it one of Gino's minions who had this idea and went ahead with out his boss's approval? who knows!

We've basically got 28 million out of them in one year, so my assumption would be it's something to do with the supposed stake in Udinese they were supposed to be selling in January and some investment funds relating to that. I just don't see how Udinese have that much money sloshing around.

The main problem with that line of thinking is I can't find any confirmation of that stake ever having being sold. Not sure if it fell through or just wasn't reported on after the closing.

It was just reported rumours I believe - nothing official and denied very quickly .

No idea, but remember they still have to buy Sarr later in the summer, as no one else is going to give us the 25 million or so Gino wants for him!

So you think Udinese have a spare £50m knocking around they can just afford to lose in one season? Keeping in mind the Serie A TV deal is worth significantly less than the Premier League deal, the top Italian clubs earn less than the bottom premier league clubs, it’s doubtful they’d even earn £50m in prize money:

Yes, you'd think there would have been a confirmation.

Only reason I think something must have happened is I just can't see how Udinese came up with 28 million to throw at us. That's an astonishing amount of money for them.

The debt was under half to the Pozzos last count I believe. And I think these inter group inflated transfers show it isn’t serviceable which is what a lot of people are worried about (or at least we have serious cash flow problems given all our future revenue streams have been borrowed against externally).

  21. hjw

    hjw Reservist

OK, but you could also argue that the Pozzos planned these inter club transfers into there thinking when it comes to cash flow. i don't see it as a desperate panic action as some on here do.

  22. hjw

Well, weren't they Serie A's biggest spenders in the last transfer window? and if your aiming for Serie A glory then Watford rejects are exactly what you need! (try's so hard to keep a straight face but fails!!!)

I have no idea to answer your question, but I actually think Sarr would be quite a good fit for them, but it's just an assumption / guess on my part as to whether he goes there

The chances are the money is going round in a circle and ending up back in their hands though, the club wont benefit. Udinese > Watford > Luxembourg holding company.

Imagine trying to justify this ****. Fair play to Gino, he has managed to discover a new type of sportswashing; one where you don't even have to bring continued on-pitch success to get large numbers of your fanbase to act as your fawning flying monkeys defending your every move.

Bending over backwards to debase yourself for a man who wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire and getting two of the worst seasons in our history back to back in return.

You said that finishing 19th in the PL and 13th in the Championship are somehow "two of the worst seasons in our history back to back" - get a grip dude.

There might be technically 'worse' seasons but 11 home defeats in a row last year and the connection with the club/players over these 2 years has probably never been lower. Imo @J.B has a point.

Sigh, I mean how many times has it got to be said that “worst season” doesn’t have to have a direct correlation to league position? Have you literally never heard of the words context, and nuance in your life?
