My point is simply that we’d be exactly the same, as proven by your point about Bournemouth. It’s strange to think Watford fans are some sort of unique island, and that despite all the other championship teams being up in arms about us exploiting the loan system, if the Pozzo’s had bought Ipswich and done it with them instead, we’d somehow be the lone group of fans standing in solidarity with them.
I cba to argue with you, but I’m saying I don’t care about Bournemouth as it’s the reality of modern football that money talks. My point is I don’t understand why people seem to get more angry about this than if our owner was to simply just give us £12M. I’ll leave it there.
Trouble is a lot of fans (mainly on Twitter ) did seem to find Bournemouth’s situation something to get angry about . And their fans reacted and are probably loving our current situation.
People don’t like it because (if true) it is just another dodgy action from this grubby, seedy, secretive club. We are a million miles away from the family club of Graham Taylor and Elton John. It’s not hard to see why people don’t like it. The fact other clubs do dodgy stuff is irrelevant - weren’t we the ones who led the way in terms of integrity? And by the way it’s hardly ingenuity to bung a load of cash from one group entity to another!
As an aside aren’t Udinese fans getting upset that they have to bung us £15m a season for dross so that we can keep afloat?
No. The transfer fee, will go towards giving us a substantial transfer kitty to invest into some more duds, who can in turn be sold a year later to Udinese a year later for a profit.
Did the Udinese sale/partial sale go through? Haven't heard anything on that for a while, if it did you would think the new investor would have oversight of these things? If not maybe extracting some cash before the sale.
I'm sure they'll be annoyed but they've been given Deulofeu and Pererya in recent years. Deulofeu's contract goes next year so they'll probably sell him and recoup a nice amount this summer too.
What does that have to do with the club? For all you know Gino might eat puppies for breakfast. Nothing to do with Watford.
He'll probably go and be a half useful player for them, like others who we shipped off for being sh1te, but actually ended up doing a job for Udinese, like Masina, Zeegelaar, Success etc. £12mil is hilarious though. Sh1thouse FC, the team for me.
Procure player with name beginning with K Overpay via Mogi Zero good performances later Zebretti launder some cash Obstruct any investigation POZZO model
Exactly this. I'm not annoyed about the deals themselves, more so that it make clear how much trouble we're in. We urgently had to get £16m upfront for some reason at the start of the season, presumably to get us to squeak in under some Financial Fair Play threshold or even worse, as we had serious cashflow issues. If we were to now sell Kayembe for 3-4 times his value, it suggests the wolf is still at the door, even if we sell Pedro and Sarr as expected. But anyway, let's see what happens. If he does go, it will be undisclosed and we won't find out until the accounts come out.
Maybe, but could it not equally be true that we need the cash to get some manga inspired transfer deals over the line?
It's not the bending of the rules which bothers me as such, it's the fact that it's considered necessary in the first place. The initial loanees from Udinese...fair enough, we were in a state under Baz, but we've just had 6 Prem seasons in the last 7 seasons, it all leaves a bitter taste
And meanwhile the worm Duxbury will tell the podders at “Parlaci Gino” that all is tickittyboo and he is looking forwards to giving Manga/Gaffer 19.0 the financial backing he needs.
In days of yore it was assumed only enormous masses could bend light in such a way that it could not escape gravity. Gino says no. I'd just like to have Peter Purvis Estupinan back. Mind you as I'll be a Seagull come August it should not be a problem.....
Not mugs, i wouldn't be so harsh. If it's within the rules, i dont see a problem. Using what you have to give you an advantage. Can i ask, back in the first pozzo season when we had 55,000 players on loan from our italian partners, did you complain about the integrity of that at the time?
Not really. A mild feeling of wrongness but happy to see those players. However that, inflated transfers, tax evasion history, tight links with an agent facing financial crime charges, hundreds of millions of debt, high “other expenses” in accounts, failure to pay bonuses, bizarre transfer fiascos (Zuniga, Marseille bloke, Bayo, Kalu) and fraudulent bank letters later, I’m of the opinion our owners are sc&m. What do you make of it?
