So looks like we could be effectively swapping Ighalo for Capoue + Stambouli . Considering we have plenty of decent strikers and not many central midfielders , I'd say that's good business
Do we? We have Deeny and Vydra and an inconsistent Forestieri. On his day, he is brilliant but not consistent enough for me
True, I love Ighalo and would like him to stay but if we got 10m for him and spent 6m on Gestede it woudld soften the blow. However I think its important to keep hold of a core of players from last year so would like him to stay and but Capoue and Stambouli
How do we know any of our players have signed for us? Has Abdi been here for 3 years without being told?
Not as legend as Matthew Briggs who played left back in that victory against Leicester. Just when I thought the transfer rumour mill couldn't get even more depressing.
I actually thought he had a very good second half of the season with Sunderland. On that kind of form I'd have no problem with signing him.
You obviously didn't watch him home and away, if you had any real insight and footballing knowledge you'd know how much of a legend Briggs is, so much raw talent.
Considering that all the chat coming out to later be transcribed into an article by WDSport (credit to WatfordTalk for that one) has been around the idea that we are looking for another fast centre back to play in the 3, because all our current options are considered too slow, I seriously doubt that Younes Kaboul has been identified as the solution to our problem. On top of that, I doubt Sunderland would countenance selling for a second, considering Kone is by all accounts about to leave them for Everton and they've already got rid of Wes Brown and Valentin Roberge this summer.
Not at all surprisingly, in that the world and his wife forecast it when he snubbed us last summer, but in pure personal footballing terms that has to go down as a particularly notably bad transfer decision on an international scale, surely? Aside from the evidence of the way Capoue has resurrected his playing career and reputation, just looking at Stambouli, he made 27 league appearances, only 9 of which were 90 minutes, all against teams in the lower half of the table or fighting relegation. 6 of those appearances were 15 minutes or less, and a 7th lasted just 17 minutes. Their incredibly entitled Parisian fans hated him and literally openly booed him on his debut for them, possibly because he's from Marseille (?) and he now appears to be being shipped off to a rather unglamorous midtable La Liga side after just one year. After having his reputation tarnished at Spurs, he's followed it up by having it further tarnished immediately after for another season, and as a result is on his way to Betis. I'm sure he loved the cash and claiming the trophies, so he's unlikely to be bothered, but it's still sad/mildly pathetic to see.
Might have has something to do with the fact that he was playing alongside the immense Kone, possibly the best buy in the whole January transfer window.
L'Equipe reporting in the last hour that we're 'not very far' from an agreement to signing him on a 3 year contract. http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Actu...boul-sunderland-tout-proche-de-watford/717538
Massively disappointing if true. He is utter utter **** ! What on earth are we thinking? If we play him ahead of any of the current back three I will be so disappointed. Has Gino lost his marbles ????
According to my GCSE French, learned from Tricolore 3, it says in there that he is going to La Rochelle on holiday, likes pop music and wants a bedroom with 2 beds and a shower and enjoys a croc monsieur for a mid morning snack.
Yep they do not want him to go http://www.readytogo.net/smb/threads/according-to-hitc-watford-want-kaboul.1262946/
I thought he was **** but apparently he was very good for the second half of last season. Still only 30 and hopefully still has a bit of pace.
I must admit when I heard we were close to signing him my reaction was similar to the undeniable truth but after asking around and a bit of research it actually seems like a great move depending on the fee. Sunderland fans are absolutely gutted he could leaving, apparently he was a massive reason why they stayed up last season. Some value him more than Kone who is set for a big money move to Everton. I also checked out the reviews of his performance against City at the weekend which were full of praise. He was given an 8/10 in most and "unlucky to be on the losing side", "commanding performance", "strong, powerful" are just a few of the quotes. Maybe this is a lot better move than most would initially think, including myself.
