Equal split between CF and AM/Wing according to SB, but again pretty good for a 20 year old in their first proper season in the PL (other than the finishing!)
Thank God he was fit, because otherwise it would have been even more embarrassing than it was today, fantastic game, didn't deserve to lose 5-1!
I’ve heard from some on here/Twitter who think he’s Udinese bound. No idea how true but thought I’d share. Still think he has some of the skills required to be a top player, but probably needs a manager to build a side with a structure role created for him. I’d hope that’s Edwards and us in the Championship, but can see why he’d be Deulofeu’s replacement in Udine.
I definitely see one of our South American forwards leaving, but ffs, if any of them are to leave, I'd have ******* hoped to get some actual money for them rather than shift them on to Udinese
Am I the only one who thinks he will stay? He and Cucho are the future of the club. Louza, FS, Ngakia, Louza, kamara and maybe Kalu should stay. The rest I honestly wouldn't bat an eyelid.
Fabrizio Romano @FabrizioRomano · 6m Brazilian striker João Pedro is now attracting lot of interest from top English clubs. His agent has already been approached. #WatfordFC Watford will try to keep him for next season - but at same time they know he’s gonna be one of the best sales in the club’s history.
I tentatively think so, now that Udinese is apparently off the table, I think he's best off here playing regularly, and hopefully absolutely ripping up the Championship. If he goes to a big club, all he'll end up doing is sitting on the bench...
If clubs are already in his ear then it's probably only going to end one way. Players hold all the power now, if he decides he wants to move then we'll just have to get the best possible fee we can.
It does feel like this might be one of those times where Gino digs his heels in - in my opinion of course. Obviously money talks and if silly amounts get put on the table, then it only ends one way. But I’d be surprised if anyone offers what Gino would class as ‘silly’…eg. £20m+ …and I doubt Gino would consider less. The wild card to all the above though is if we struggle to offload Sarr and Dennis for reasonable fee’s and still need money.
By the looks of it we shouldn't have too much of an issue selling Dennis for a decent fee, but Leventhal reckons we'll get closer to £9m than £29m for Sarr, which is...a bit of a flop to say the least
…but also, I doubt Joao Pedro see’s many more years with us either to be honest. He’s been here for 2.5 seasons and that’s probably not far off what was sold to him to begin with. Perhaps a sell and ‘loan back’ could work…
I mean. The Sarr signing has been an unmitigated disaster by Pozzo but even I don’t think we will fail to get £15m for him. Even at that price there will be plenty of faces like slapped bums to enjoy on Twitter.
Happens to too many South American players. Has held CONMEBOL back. I fear the same for Alvarez at UAE.
Honestly wouldn't sell for less than £40m. If he's coached properly he's a future regular for a Champions League side
Think it depends how you read it - I took that to mean that AL thinks we will aim to break even on Sarr - rather than sell for profit like I’m sure the aim has always been.
He’s done his time in the Championship and is too talented to waste away without proper coaching at this freak show of a club. I assumed he’d be off to Udinese so getting some actual money for him will be a bonus. If Romano is right and PL clubs are circling, I’d say it’s inevitable he’ll go. Imo we should demand £15m and a good sell on fee (20% of profit?)
But Leventhal spoils it by using a made up number for break even which is either trying to help out the owner, or financial illiteracy.
On second reading, I tend to agree with you, we'll look to break even, but have to brace ourselves for initial bids below £20m. Breaking even now seems a bit of a pipe dream, I'd take £20m for him at this stage...
The difference is we bought Sarr as a ready made star, who had already starred for a few years at top flight level, playing in Europe and impressing against big teams, JP has one season of regular football in the Championship and a bit part role this season. He's clearly going to the top, but he ain't getting there yet, so why not stay with us for another year?
Probably because he’s not progressing at a huge rate and the club has been a circus since he arrived for the most part. Personally, and I’m only speaking as if it were me, I’d be keener to move to a bigger club under a good coach and be prepared to initially play less.
Yep, he's at a very important stage of his development. He needs to be playing for a coach who can really improve him, hopefully he stays and Edwards is that man though.
Imo it would be an absolute disaster if he went. We need to be building a team around him. He showed heart, passion and desire against Leicester and should of scored more tbf. I'm confident especially after he signed his new deal that he will give us another year atleast.
