The main point of that comment wasn't about praising Sarr - it was rebutting your assertion that "you shouldn’t need a €35m player to get promoted from the championship", when in reality most teams do still need to have at least one star player worth a hefty amount who will make the difference for them in winning promotion.

Not that anyone in their squad has been bought for mega mega money, but you'd think Brennan Johnson will be every bit as valuable as those players very soon

    Forest have Brennan Johnson.

Huddersfield don't seem to, they seem to be an outlier this season. I haven't seen much of them though and wasn't particularly impressed with them vs Luton; no idea how they've gotten where they are really. I'm also expecting Forest are more likely to beat them in the final.

Most teams need some stand out players to get promoted. Sarr was easily our best forward last season, and you get £100m+ for getting promoted. The fact that our owners haven’t spent that money wisely isn’t his fault. He has issued a lot of games this season through injury, and pretty sure he will be an asset to most mid table Prem teams. Still think we will get most of our money back for him.

We bought him as a Premier League team. Getting relegated then getting promoted again but being in such a poor state as result that we broke all sorts of hideous records is nothing to be grateful for. I think it’s probably an attitude that reflects how passive a lot of our fans are and how they’ll put up with anything and let the owners get away with murder, that they’ll see getting promoted from the league below as Sarr repaying his massive fee.

If he’d helped keep us up in the first place then yes he would’ve repaid a large chunk of his huge fee, I’m personally not thankful that he managed to get us back to a worse position than before we signed him, but if you want to be then that is entirely up to you of course. I just think it’s ever so slightly bonkers to be grateful for a player we bought as a PL team for €35m performing well in the league below, I think that should be taken as an absolute given and nothing to be grateful for.

He wasn’t bought to help us get out of the championship was he? What do you think we actually bought him for?

I’m not sure how you count the hundred million for getting promotion but ignore what was lost through being relegated and the obvious state our team is in now as a result of that.

And all of this is before you even get into the fact that we won’t get back what we paid for him, so we won’t even break even on him yet he’s somehow repaid some of his fee, even though we won’t actually repay all of his fee when we sell him, remarkable.

How much would JP be worth? Reckon there'll be interest in the region of Mitrovic/Solanke/Lerma, if not quite in the region of Sarr

It's possible of course that we could have spent the money on Sarr more wisely, but we could have also just as easily spent it on yet more duffers.

One thing which I do think is clear though - had we not signed Sarr and not signed anyone as good as him instead, then not only would we have gotten relegated that season, but we also wouldn't have gotten promoted again the season after. That for sure would have left us in an even worse financial situation.

I don't think anyone is arguing that a player who cost as much as him should be a star in the Championship, but the point remains that it still required us having someone of his ability to get us promoted again, and getting promoted is worth more than Sarr cost.

We could’ve just signed some players that fitted into the incumbent managers system while we were also busy giving him a four year contract.

That's a tricky question. There are plenty of people on here who are also think more highly of him than I do.

One thing with him as that any buying club will still be buying mostly potential. His value in future is still more than the value he actually gives to the club now with his performances on the pitch.

I'm not convinced he'll be prolific in the Championship next season and don't think he'll be able to fire us to promotion in the way that Sarr did last time, or the likes of Mitrovic, Solanke, or even to a lesser extent Johnson are doing this season. He'll get goals, but we'll still need other goalscorers around him.

I'm also still not convinced he'll ever have the physicality or intensity to be a first-choice regular in a comfortably positioned PL team and he'd have more chance in La Liga or Serie A.

As for his value, it'll take a club with enough cash to take a long-term view to get a decent amount for him, and we might only sell if we think we can use the money better on players who will more immediately improve the team. My guess though would be £17-20mil.

Javi Gracia played with wingers. In fact I have been reminded by some on here recently that he was even having to use Will Hughes as a RW sometimes here due to a lack of other options, so us signing Sarr for there made sense in the context of us definitely needing a new first-choice player in that position. Our managers since then have all played 433 as well so that wasn't the issue.

He did not play wingers...he played a strange 4-2-2-2....none of those were wingers, hence how he could use Hughes as a 'tucked in' wide midfielder.

Sarr got 5 goals and 2 assists this season, and only played half the games - which is decent for a right winger. Once he got injured and his form dipped our season was over. But if the bedwetters want to tell us he isn’t very good, then who am I to argue.

I don't think the "bedwetters" are saying he isn't at least average for a premier league player. They are concerned that Pozzo is going to make a thumping loss on him, which is the reality. If you think otherwise you are living in a fantasy land.

They worry too much. We will sell Sarr and Dennis this summer and make a combined profit on those sales, even if we lose on Sarr.

Some of the bedwetters just aren’t particularity grateful or surprised that a €35m player who we bought as a Premier League team contributed towards promotion from the league below.

Ultimately it wont be the bedwetters who set his eventual transfer fee either, we hopefully won’t have long to wall it until we find out what that is.

Edwards plays with 2 up top and a #10 in behind, so JP wouldn't be the only one charged with scoring goals (although you'd think we'll need more goals from midfield). Still, 9 goals in the Championship in his first season in English football is very promising, I don't see any reason he can't add 5-6 to that next season

Well the other news is it’s external debt. Which is a bit more of a problem when we have been left with a squad with only a handful of players who actually have transfer value, and some below par players who remain on decent contracts by championship standards! Still, we mustn’t let that worry us eh?

Cucho is an average player and not very good, but if he played the same number of games as Sarr, am very certain he will have more goals and assist.

If we get an offer of over £20m with a good sell-on, we should let him go.

If we can pocket £20m for Dennis, £20m for Pedro and £20m for Sarr we'd have done well.

Cucho is the one I want to keep.

Does he plays 4-4-2 or 3-5-2? Am a big fan of the 3-5-2 formation as I think it helps to concede less even if you don't have the best defenders, though you will need the 2 forwards to be clinical in front of goal as chances created over 90 minutes will be limited unlike with other formations. I think it's part of the reason why Brentford looked good this season.

Somehow, I don't think he will develop into the player we all want. He seems to like dribbling pass players more than playing for the team, and I see lots of people here giving him praises after games simply for that.

Same here, I will be really disappointed if we sell Cucho. No team will sign Sarr for 15m though!

This is what Edwards' FGR team looked like this season, they scored 75 goals in League 2 which was 2nd in the league, and 17 more than last season with a similar squad, so I don't think creating chances was a problem (stopping goals also wasn't a problem as they conceded less than a goal a game). They had 2 very prolific forwards (with young backups who chipped in with decent amounts considering their time on the pitch), 5 league goals from their #10 Aitchison, 13 goals in total from their deeper midfielders and 6 from defence, which is pretty good going!

3 at the back does provide more protection at the back, which could be useful as we'll struggle to be as solid as we were last season. I think JP (and hopefully his striker partner/backup) will be pretty prolific, hoping Zinck and Louza will add a few goals with decent amounts from those behind them
