Sarr left this club at Christmas.
I appreciate his value has dropped but in the daft world of football we should manage to obtain £20 er 20m.

Hopefully we can then keep JP.

I'm not confident however as no one at executive level appears to be able to run a bath.

Sarr had left earlier than that I reckon. I can only recall the opening game against Villa and Norwich away where he actually used his pace. He's been a passenger for the majority.
100% JP needs to stay and hopefully Cucho too. Those two FS, Louza and Kamara. I'd even say Ngakia. He imo needs to be getting more game time because he's still young enough to improve, or put on loan. The rest I honestly couldn't care less if they all left. Thankfully alot will.

I like JP. He’s talented, driven, and not a loser like most of our squad.

I hope he gets a move to a club with a coach that’ll develop the obvious talent he has, because if he stays here his ability will be wasted.

20m for Sarr? Who will pay that? I will be very happy to get 15m for him.

I don't know and it is against all the evidence we have accumulated in the last six months.

However it is football and it operates in its own diseased vacuum, so we can but hope.

Based on what? He was a decent Champ defender to be fair but other than that I know very little about him. Not sure naming a captain that's been sidelined all season sends the right message either, especially as it's not really injury related. Personally I'd like to see the club buy someone who can come in as captain, we need a complete overhaul in absolutely every department and I don't particularly want any of these losers leading the team next year.

Think we are all pretty guilty of limiting ourselves to thinking about PL suitors when we talk of getting a small fee for Sarr.

If he was put on the market for £25m-£30m, I suspect there’s a fair few clubs in France, Italy and Germany that would be pretty keen.

Let’s face it, if we still owe Rennes £9m for him, they can buy him for £25m and include that £9m within it quite happily I imagine, and in return they get a player who was great for them.

I don’t think it’s a case of ‘Newcastle or Udinese’ whatsoever.

Genuine question, what clubs outside of England would be willing to spend £20odd million on Sarr? Sure, the world elite can if they want to, but a) would they be arsed about him, and b) would a club like Rennes have that money to spare to spunk on one player?

Italy: Juve, Inter, AC Milan, Napoli, Roma

    Germany: Bayern, Dortmund, Leverkusen, Leipzig

I’d be pretty shocked if the vast majority of those clubs couldn’t find £20m-£30m. And if he’s available for that money, I would expect a few of them to be interested to be honest.

I think it’s raw for us because we have been so close in watching Sarr. But I think a lot of clubs will disregard this season to be honest and will think he’s full of promise. I think the likes of United and Liverpool etc would look elsewhere now. But I suspect his name carries a fair bit of weight still on the continent.

Spanish sides too - probably not the big 3 (they’d look elsewhere) but Villareal and Sevilla would fit the bill.

If it’s a buyer’s market then the deal could end up being very performance based to overcome the volatility of his valuation though I suspect we just want cash and as much of it up front as possible.

Some absolute disaster players have gone for 30-40m. Look at David Luiz. Drinkwater. Hell even Jordan Ibe went for £15m.

Sarr's goals have contributed directly to more points than any other of our players. People act like he's Ken Sema.

  16. FromDiv4

But its not a simple as how good he can be.
Ken Sema is clearly no where near as good as Sarr can be, but you always get what Sema is capable of every game. Quality may be 5/10 but commitment to deliver that is always 9+
Sarr on the other hand is capable of quality of 9/10 but only shows this for moments in some games. He delivers less than he could/should in 90+% of his games.

And I don't buy the "playing in a bad team" excuse. He is supposed to be a quality above to lift the team and create things, not just hide from passes or refuse to take opportunities to run forward with the ball.

One of our best talents we have had, but also one of our greatest ever under achievers.

Villarreal love a relegated PL player (Estupinan, Capoue, Danjuma) or PL reject (Aurier, Foyth, Lo Celso, Moreno, Coquelin). It's definitely a market they try to take advantage on when they can.

He’s deemed not good enough based on this season to be fair. Many clubs will his international form and performances at Rennes…and for us last season. And they’ll see good.

Then they will look at the negatives - and I expect many of those will be written off as ‘it’s Watford…basket case club, not consistent coaching’.

I don’t think he’s as good as £40m or as good as our most positive fans claim. But claims of him being **** are overrated in my opinion. He’s clearly a good footballer who needs a good coach and stability in his environment.

As for not being good enough for those teams - an Ismaila Sarr that’s realising his talent would be knocking on the door of most of those sides.

Sarr is an excellent player when he uses his best asset, pace. He just couldn't be bothered to use it. Villa home and Norwich away are the only games I can recall.
I for the love of me can't understand why he just didn't knock into space, beat his marker for pace then deliver. GT would of hammered this into him time and time again.

PSG, Inter, Ac Milan, Napoli, Juventus Bayern? Seriously? Most of those teams you mentioned have players better than Sarr on there bench so why would they want Sarr? Can't even see PSG, Juventus or Bayern being linked with Sarr even if he is available for a free transfer. Cucho and Pedro have a better chance of moving to any of those teams than Sarr.

Based on what I have seen from Sema in his last two games, if we were still in a relegation battle and we need a point or a win in our last game to survive, I will be furious and won't bother watching the game if Sarr starts over Sema.
Sema simply has no technique or talent, but he is always willing to fall back and help the team defensively, when he is given the ball and we are attacking he is willing to run with it towards the opposition goal rather than stop the ball and wait for the opposition to regroup and then pass the ball back to a defender, when he receives the ball on the wings, he is always willing to try and cross the ball into the box (even though his crossings are terrible) rather than pass it to a defender.
We are **** but we are better with Sema playing than Sarr.

Read the question. It was WHO could afford him….

And look at the make-up and ages of Milan/Napoli squads when you claim what you are. And also the potential for their players to leave this summer.

I’m not talking about certainties for interest - but writing these clubs off without looking deeper is pretty short-sighted. I imagine most of them would be interested if they are financially stable.

The second half of your post is laughable and just clouded by your own bias - if Sarr was FREE, there’s barely a top aide that wouldn’t at least be interested. And he’s achieved more in his career than Cucho and Joao Pedro. That’s just a fact. I doubt Cucho, for instance, is even remotely on their radar. At least be vaguely realistic in your bombastic claims.

Sarr was really good in his first season in the Prem, and was the biggest reason we got promoted. A big chunk of what we paid for him was paid off by helping us get promoted last yr. He was also decent at the start of this season, until injuries, Afcon call up and presumably a loss in confidence have had a big impact on his performances. Personally I think we should get most of our money back for him. If we don’t, I wouldn’t sell if the price is low

I don’t know how anyone can arrive at that conclusion. You shouldn’t need a €35m player to get promoted from the championship and relegation costs you at least double that in the first place. Surely getting promoted was just getting back to square one, at the very most?

He was decent at times, put in one or two very good performances, and registered slightly better numbers than you might have imagined at first remembrance. Then, as you say, he mostly fell off a cliff (as did almost everyone, and many in worse and far more culpable ways). If he was 'really good', given the margins involved, we wouldn't have been relegated in the first place. DISCLAIMER ALERT - not that I'm saying he deserves to bear any particular weight of responsibility for our relegation, except as an entirely passive element of the choice to piss away our transfer budget on him (particularly in hindsight) at the expense of actually required positions.

You say that, but Fulham might not have gotten promoted if they didn't still have the £22mil Mitrovic leading the line for them.

Also Bournemouth still have £24mil Dominic Solanke and £25mil Jefferson Lerma helping to get them promoted.

They're slightly less than the Sarr fee, but if Sarr and Dennis go then we'll be left with no players who we paid that kind of fee for or are worth that kind of fee. In the Championship that extra touch of class can really make all the difference in winning promotion, as Sarr definitely showed when we went up last time.
