Yeah interesting that (as @nornironhorn shared) the club’s website announcement says he can play in either role, and that he’s been given the number 16 shirt, Doucoure’s old number. From Leventhal’s article yesterday it still seems fairly possible that Capoue stays, so it looks like we’ve brought him in as a versatile option in the middle and then maybe we replace Capoue should he be sold.

 

Same. I still hold out some small hope he can recover but clearly something is being held back, be it physical or mental. Such a shame if he can’t overcome whatever it is but he’s a shadow of what he’s been capable of before. Hopefully it’s just a mental thing and Ivic’s can restore his confidence - but I’m losing hope with each passing game and thinking those who are writing him off may have a point.

 

Really good signing. Massive problem position in our first two games that we’ve solved quickly and fairly cheaply. Could even start tomorrow the way Chalobah has been playing.

In some bantertastic news, Sheffield Wednesday made an offer to take him on loan yesterday, so we might have done this just to stop him being available for them and then we can bring him on late on to lord it over them.

This is more like it, now we're properly back in Championship mode! Reminds me when we got Cleverley and Lansbury on loan about a decade ago. Joking aside, if he's as good as those two players were back then, I think it will be a decent deal.

 

Good signing, someone who can improve over the season rather than regress as he hits his 35th birthday.

If we get promoted there's probably a decent chance we keep him.

 

One thing I've noticed is he goes to ground a lot when winning the ball. Think that will catch him out at times.
