At this rate it'll be an easy game for the scum ffs

Quina needs to play as a No.10, that’s obvious by now. If we can’t play a formation that suits that, he should be the one to miss out right now.

Hopefully they'll get battered midweek and go into our game with confidence knocked and tired legs and they'll get battered again next weekend.

Hopefully United have a point to prove and go in hard on whoever the **** L*ton's best player is!

Does seem a little bit of square pegs and round holes at the moment, doesn't it?

And for no reason. A lot of these players would look far more comfortable in a familiar formation. I know it’s fashionable - but I just don’t get why we are playing 3 at the back. We look so bad at it. And it’s having knock-on effects all over the pitch.

It's not even Ivic's preferred formation, which makes it a whole lot stranger.

In fairness, before Sarr started training he had Pussetto and Sinclair to choose between for right wing.

Not privy to his thoughts, but everything is in such flux at the minute I don't think we'd be convincing in a standard formation tbf

Looks crap. Will fit right in.

Ivic has probably been told to play it by Pozzo, so that there's the excuse of "getting used to a new system" to distract people from our crap performances whilst he desperately tries to sell everyone.

  13. Perhaps because without Hughes and Capoue we don't have the midfielders to make a 433 work?

I hope Garner can actually play because he looks a complete jerk. His socks (or were they tights?), rolled right up to his shorts and his shirt outside his shorts - a mess! He then got booked in no time and could even have had a second yellow with a mis-timed tackle.

We have no left back. We only have Pedro available of the many squad members that could play wide in a front three. Well, we could play King Ken there but then he can't cover at left back.

I don't think we'll play the whole season like this but with the players that are currently available, at least we look relatively solid, if pretty disjointed going forwards.

How would you (or anyone else for that matter) have set us up yesterday? Interested as I don't see any other options really, until we have more players available.

GT would have not stood for it.

He liked players to have their shirts tucked in I think.

    I agree with this.

Being so solid at the back is a decent starting point. Not having someone capable of playing out from the back on the left of the 3 is hindering us a bit going forwards, but as demonstrated when Perica came on, we've also looked poor in attack due to currently lacking strikers with much sharpness and goal threat. Even having Perica and Gray both fit and starting up top will instantly make us much more dangerous in attack and make playing 5 defenders seem less of a hindrance to our attacking play.

He can certainly play. Already learning to be tougher is no bad thing. We're lucky to get him considering the number of clubs after him. Let him loose in midfield and the final third and he will distribute and create chances. I like seeing that little bit of swagger in a youngster.

Agreed Smudger. We'll be hoping to beat a handful of clubs to loan Chelsea's Ian Maatsen as well.

Can he play LCB? I feel that's more important than LWB

    No he can't.

If we want to loan an LCB from Chelsea then that would be Clarke-Salter, though there'll be loads of competition.

I don't really know how highly rated Maatsen is though. At just 18 and with 0 first-team appearances anywhere, giving him our LWB spot sounds a bit of a stretch.

Imagine Messi playing there HD. :D Far too small. He will be supplemental to Kiko if he stays as I want to see Ken play up in the final third and midfield. Not defending in his own half. Although to be fair to him he did a grand job there.

Hey if Watford are willing to pay £5m then his value has got to be £25-30m. This kid’s going to get us up by himself.

United are generally pretty good at letting the players who aren't going to be good enough for them go, rather than endlessly farming them out on loan to bring in loan fees like Chelsea do.

True - although I think a lot of ours was connected to the acquisition of most of the Granada B team when they sold Granada, most of whom would never get work permits here. Given the significant reduction in the south american signings recently, I wonder if we will continue with the model.

We also don't really use our academy players for it like they do - probably more because they aren't good enough.
