Even if Deeney doesn’t go we could get a useful replacement by getting rid of Gray , selling someone like Capoue/Sarr if they doesn’t want to be here and sending Murray back.

Instead we are probably stuck with all 4 and their wages for the rest of the season.

And won’t buy much more than another Udinese reserve player in January.

I would say it’s been obvious for years that Gray “isn’t”.

I suspect January is more likely to see our squad weakened, rather than strengthened. As the window closed in the summer, we were still trying to raise funds IMO. I don't think we are spending money in the near future.

Our season will fade out to nothing and then we'll have another summer of rats jumping ship. Only those who are being paid well over the odds on their contracts or those who nobody else in their right mind would touch (eg. Gray) will still be here - bleeding the club dry.

You obviously didn't hear Ivic's press conference, or just chose to ignore it.

If we put in another lacklustre performance tonight I will happily eat my words and say this guy isn't going to be a success.

If we do win and play well, and follow it up with another terrible performance at the weekend then see above.

We wont go up playing well in one game and doing terribly in the next. We need consistency.

You cannot be being serious to be this dogmatically obsessed with something Ivic said once in one presser quite a while ago, relatively offhand, at the expense of all evidence and what you and everyone else knows to be true.

Either way, it's essentially irrelevant, because whether he sees him as his 'main striker' or not, he's still absolutely **** - however much you delight in regaling us with this little titbit, it doesn't make it any less of a reality on the pitch.

Absolutely. Terrifying to think even further down the line. In 2022/2023 we will have Dawson, Cathcart, Cleverly, Navarro and Isaac Success on the payroll with a destroyed balance sheet. Imagine a team with those 5 two years older and 6 free transfers!

I agree. If we win tonight and follow it up with several wins in a row, then I will keep faith in Ivic, but fail to win tonight or on Saturday and then go through a period of indifferent form, then I will be asking questions of him.

An opinion of a forum member is less relevant than what a manager actually says and/or does as it is the manager who picks the players.

Unfortunately Gray’s performance at Forest was the worst in living memory by a Watford player. I was willing to give Gray a chance and thought he’d do well this year but his awful performance when available and Covid indiscretions have made me forget that notion.

You are unfortunately now a lone man in a storm clinging to a raft.

Just because he is not aggressive and abusive doesn't mean he is not a (very subtle) troll.
After all, as his moniker says, he's got plenty of time to construct his posts.

It isn't me who is the lone man, Ivic said he is the main striker of the team. He makes the decisions not me.

Last season, under Pearson, Deeney was the main striker of the team, even with a bandaged leg. Many of us on the forum didn't like it but he made the decision not us.

One has to reach that conclusion. The alternatives don't bear thinking about.

His press conference from several months ago. Which is a fairly crucial bit of detail - which you chose to ignore.

His press conference at the start of the season which started in September. No mention since of a main striker change from him.

I don't have a problem of a change of striker(s) if others grab their opportunities and impress Ivic whilst Gray is out.

So several months ago then as I stated? And when do you ever hear managers talking about who their main players are these days or hear them guaranteeing games to a player? Just doesn’t happen.

It was a nothing, passing comment and you’re hanging out to it beyond any reason. Fairly certain you’re just trolling people now.

He said it in a press conference in front of the press. You don't have to believe it if you don't want to. Its ok.

I mean, press conferences are normally said in front of the press.

Lampard also said Kepa was his No.1 and then signed a new GK 2 days later and he hasn’t played since...but he said it to the press so it’s still true right?

Kepa made mistakes. Things can change. As I said in my previous post if the other strikers step up then things can change.

Not in the same ball park. A goalkeeper and a striker are completely different positions. Let it go.

He let all his teammates down again by breaking Covid guidelines. That’s a huge mistake on its own before you even talk about his latest performances on the pitch...

I’m giving up engaging with you now because you’re utterly clueless and beyond reasoning with.

You had to resort to his off field antics having discussed on field matters because you know what I am saying is reasonable. :)

    ‘Having discussed on-field matters?’

He’s been awful all season outside of a few mins before pulling his hamstring. That’s his lot for on-field matters this season. Open your eyes to what you’re actually watching - you’re in denial.

If this carries on for much longer the discontent will grow. Awful second half. What did he say ? Lets express ourselves and keep the foot on the neck ? By heck.

Manat is LAP in disguise. No other explanation than all the excuses made for this reprobate. Awful footballer and person. A stain on the club. Not because he is a former scummer because we have had several that have been great servants in the past like Alec Chamberlain and Alan Garner but because he is a waste of space and valuable resources we can ill afford to keep throwing away.

If I thought we were good enough to just slow the game down and protect the lead against all the teams in this division, then I wouldn’t mind it as much - but I don’t think we are.

I don’t actually blame Ivic for tonight as bad as it was to watch. I think he’s been told to get promotion at any cost - so protecting a lead is understandable. It won’t always work though as we have found at other times this season...QPR? Bournemouth?

What I can’t abide is the pedestrian pace we play at a lot of the time when it’s 0-0 or we are losing. And that’s been the overriding sense this season...

Let’s see what the weekend brings.

If we were playing a team with better options up top they might of put a few of those chances away tonight. Ok you can only beat what’s in front of you and that was achieved.

Like Burnsy said I don’t think we’re to capable of seeing games out like that however if this was the case I’d except it. Those tactics worked tonight but after getting a 2 goal lead this is maybe how ivic intends it. Long gruelling season and when you have the ball the other team is working harder so it may come off 2nd half of the season as hopefully we will be a bit fitter.

I can’t see it working as there’s more Cardiff type teams than Rotherhams.

On to the next one and hopefully at least another half of putting the game to bed and getting control

The quicker we sack him, the better chance we have of salvaging the season. We are currently sleepwalking to 10th.

We didn't lose the game to a side that many on here thought we would. No sleepwalking being done yet.
