I was one of the most enthusiastic supporters of Capoue staying and being brought back into the fold, but his attitude and professionalism (or lack of) have made me look a right fool, and been shockingly disappointing and annoying to witness. As you say, he should have been one of our greatest assets, and helped us play at a level higher than this division, and instead he has contributed to our wallowing in the mire.

It's easy to forget how lackadaisical and often profligate he was before Javi turned up as coach, and it turns out he's just reverted to type. The fact that he has any role at all to play as it stands is a horrific indictment of our midfield options.

What that means is that we either need to find a buyer who allows us to replace him with an appropriate Championship player in the position, or the new Head Coach needs to be able to do a Javi and find the key to motivating him to give even a single solitary ****.

 

No offence to you leighton but I can't tell you how annoying this kind of comment is to read, and I don't mean because it contains the idea that a player is being a berk. I'd rather not know at all than have the carrot of privileged information telling us something very significant about the dynamics of the dressing room dangled in front of us, only for the carpet to be yanked with a 'but I can't tell you or give you any clues to their identity, of course', with the end result a blue-balling of epic proportions.

 

Who'd have thunk that a guy who doesn't even like football playing for a team he doesn't want to play for would be a complete and utter disaster?

 

It was concerning at the time, but in hindsight at this point it becomes even more increasingly alarming how clear it was that Duxbury was absolutely aghast by some of the relatively softball questions being asked at that event, and how differently he appeared to view things like club communication compared to the majority of the fanbase. It doesn't bode that well, as you say, for the pattern of thinking that's driving major decision-making at Colney.

 

In mild fairness, that 'doesn't like football' concept is something that has been taken somewhat out of context and clarified in a more recent interview. I just think he's a very lazy chiller with natural ability but very, very little stomach of heart for any kind of fight, nor feeling of personal responsibility.

 

I agree with the broader sentiments - but I’d rather we brought in a manager who can throw an arm around these players and get the best of them. In the short-term, we need them sad as it is.

I suspect a very large difference is that Buendia was bought from a club with no greater pedigree than Norwich. He won’t have had his arm twisted to join them with the promise of moving on when the chance arises. We have continually sold ourselves as a ‘stepping stone’ so whilst annoying, it’s natural players kick off if denied their chance to move on. I don’t agree with it whatsoever - but it’s not hard to see how it has arisen.

Capoue was clearly protesting yesterday with his performance. Shocking attitude but I don’t think he’s beyond salvation as long as the next appointment is correct.

 

How many times have you been told in the last year...Birmingham have next to no money at all. They cannot afford Deeney. Yet you continually bring it up as a possibility.

 

I get that, I’ve been on the other side of it as well so I get it’s frustrating. Equally I’m not going to drop someone in the ****.

It frustrates me as well seeing all sorts of flak being thrown around at some players who don’t warrant it, and some players getting fanboy treatment when they are the most problematic.

 

Attacking more than three times in a game might create enough chances for even our mediocre ones to score.
The lack of a deadly striker is even more damaging to a system such as Ivic’s ‘keep ball, score the one decent chance, defend for a 1-0’.

 

I can understand withholding names if LB was posting under his/her real name and they were saying something libellous. But given he/she posts under a moniker, saying ‘***** is a known troublemaker and ringleader’ is not really an area to tread carefully. May as well just say who it is.

Yeah, I mean, there's a poster on here who has constantly claimed that Deeney is a megalomaniacal psychopath doing everything he can possible to bring down the club from the inside and an inherently violent criminal to boot - I don't think we need to worry about the long arm of the law at this juncture for a 'I heard that BLAH is actually the real troublemaker'. And I do have an NCTJ, so I did have to pass an exam on media law and libel...
