My lad is just over 11 months now, and OUR broken sleep is still the hardest thing for me to adjust to. He's a happy bee which is great and is finally showing signs of longer periods of sleep at night. Bed @ 7pm, but typically he's been waking 2 or 3 times at night, recently he's only been waking once at about midnight... i hope this continues! My Wife has just started back at work again so he goes to a nursery for 2 days a week, I think his better sleep is linked to how tired is after a day there.
    Hard work, but good fun!

Ashtons and Parsons - or baby cocaine as we call it. We tried that last night and it seemed to help her chill out a bit. The thing she seems to like most is chomping down on my finger as hard as possible. Seems to help her a bit so I've no issue doing it, however it makes my missus wince when she does it on her nip..!

My daughter went through a bit of a mad one teething at the end of last summer right after her 1st birthday. She was sleeping maybe 3 hours each night. We tried Tylenol and the gel for her gums without any real improvements. By the time teething was over, her sleeping routine had been utterly destroyed and even without teething pains, she'd be up and crying every couple of hours. Eventually got to the point where I couldn't take it anymore and went with the "cry it out" method. First night she cried for an hour - a real screaming, stamping, let kicking fit, before giving up and going to sleep. Next night she did the same for 20 minutes or so. Following night was 5 minutes of crying. Since then, 9 months on, I've had to go into her room at night once, when she had strep throat. She'll sleep for 12-13 hours every night now. She wakes up a few times, but she'll have a little drink, find her bear to cuddle and roll back over to sleep. In fact, she loves her bed so much, she'll ask to go to bed at about 7:00 every night. You'll not see her until 8 or 9 the next day. One thing we did that I think helps is have a little fan running in her room at night. The noise helps drown out anything that might disturb her sleep. Plus, it's pretty warm in TX.

The point I'm making is that there's an end to the sleepless nights. It feels like it'll never end, but it will. You'll feel like it's the greatest thing in the workd when your littles start sleeping all night. All you can do is hang in there and survive as best you can.

Yes, there's an end to sleepless nights....until they begin again. Be warned! My 11 year old has gone full circle and finds it very difficult to get to sleep. We have tried everything - getting cross, not getting cross, reading, music, meditation CDs. You name it. And yet still, more nights than not, she struggles to get to sleep much before 10pm.

My son goes straight through now! (he's 20 years old and we find a drop of cider helps!).

This thread makes interesting reading looking back. It's been a rollercoaster ride so far but I wouldn't swap a second of it.

    Can't believe it's been nearly a year.

I definitely hate teeth. Daughter has had them appearing since she was 3 months old and now it's the big fookers at the back causing trouble. People tell me she's ahead of the game with teething so the only hope is she finishes ahead too.

In more worrying news we've started thinking of having a second one...!

Our daughter has two teeth on the bottom, but she's having some discomfort at the moment and whenever she chomps down on anything (including my finger) she's always chomping at the very back of her mouth so I think she has the big buggers forming as well.

Ha same here! All the way through pregnancy we said we'd have one and that would be that, but we've already decided we'll have more. Not for a while yet but definitely not stopping at one (all being well etc.)
